  • @barnumeffect5 im sorry dude now tht i read tht again i sound like a cocksucker. my apologies. happy hip hop!!

  • @barnumeffect5 uh if you dont know wat this song is about then you need to take another listen or listen to somethin else

  • the artist doesn't even know what the fuck he's talking about

  • @barnumeffect5 You don't know what the fuck he's talking about.

  • aes says he's still trying to figure it out himself. i get bits and pieces. and what i understand from him is pretty dope.

  • @barnumeffect5 This is talking about how how some artists or people be like "HIP-HOP'S DEAD", but really, it isn't broken.

Hence, what you holdin ain't really broken. =D

  • hah they do and they dont Polemic . . and theyre right . he was a head . .listen to greatest pac man victory

  • @split876 i never said he didnt do drugs

  • I love the Catcher in the Rye reference..

  • I think people should just expand their vernacular, he makes plenty of sense to me.

  • The verse at 2:43 is probably my favorite moment in all of hip hop.

  • Who is the rapper at 2:45? Doesn't sound like the same guy.

  • @ChaosDystopia He goes by the name Aesop Rock.

  • Brain nothing broken, Where you at? Piston's pump perfect, Where you at? The bass tone is Merlin, Where you at? Aesop Rock is so Ill.

  • ZZ ZZZZZZ ZAAAAA ZAAAAAAA ZUUUHHHHH ZUUUHHH ZUHHHHH

  • all im saying 2:45.....go burn in hell chris brown and lil wayne and any other rapper who trys to rap fast

but i like busta, the man is ill

  • @fuel126 just look up def juxtapose and a lot of the artists are similar, but I think Aesop Rock is the best.

  • Hip Hop at its best!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Ohh the double-time bridge is always my favorite part of this song. <3

  • @MartinRiatsuKasran aesop sick at the double times, Substance is another good example of this =]

  • Aesop is any rappers worst nightmare

  • I don't know if I'm the one who has a bad vocabulary, but whenever i listen to Aesop Rock, i learn at least three new words.

  • Can someone give me the names of some artists that are similar to Aesop and/or are in the conscious hip hop genre

  • @fuel126 I don`t think anyone can be similar. Aes is unhuman.

    ps.atlas

  • @fuel126 cannibal ox, atmosphere, company flow, el-p

  • @fuel126 Not really in the same "genre", but Immortal Technique.

  • @fuel126 Ecg..for real.

    your welcome

  • holy shit i just found aesop 10 minutes ago THIS SHITS HOT

  • @v3nd3tta543 agreed

  • ima save you a seat in the front row of aesop rocks 12 steps to shut the fuck up seminar

  • I disagree. I think it is relevant. Aesop Rock was an acid head lol. You can't look at his lyrics "logically", you need to expand your head and grasp it's imperfectness and his beautiful way of explaining something. I've listened to him for years and I still find things I can pick out and finally "get it". Being high definitely can help grasp him... or just confuse you lol.

  • @BDawk1234 tell em man.

  • @BDawk1234 I'm not sure drugs help anything however it does help some squares look outside themselves... it did for me =] I now see myself as a slightly oblong polygon

  • @BDawk1234 drugs do not help you understand anything or help creativity.

  • @PolemicArts ahahha you're an idiot if you think that bro.

  • I love aesop, but only understand him completely when im high as a kite, idk why that is, til now, AESOP is MADE to be listen on a Higher Level.

  • @elniesr Yeah or on a sober level. That was a pretty illogical statement. I doubt Aesop made this only to listen when you are high. Actually I know he didn't. You are just fucking high

  • @elniesr hey can you see the rabit in the album art maby one has to be high because i never noticed it before.

  • my fav track off the whole fuckin album, no doubt a classic album sad it aint recognized smh..

  • Aesop is GOD

  • Speaking of.. You should listen to Pigs when you're high. AMAZING

  • Aesop:

"Motherfucker, my word is born like Siamese triplets

With doctor, lawyer, rocket scientist promise

    (let em grow leisurely)"

  • I'm bringin' my T.V with me

  • Aesop is a god! His voice is epic

  • listen to water aint safe no more by aesop

  • this song is notched up on beastmode<3

  • In this song it sounds like Aesop is dissing KRS-ONE for always talking about the mind state of hip hop culture.

And I would have to say if KRS is the "God of hip hop" or the conscience of it. Aesop is the opposite of God spiritually within the culture. I.E.

    - "I'll let God warm the bench for now, but I'll ascend to spin y'all dizzy."

    - "cursed version of a certain virgin mary womb occupant."

-"you have seen the days when, I applied lies in a billion different ways"_A.R.

  • Incredible CD, right next to The Cold Vein. Def Jux.... leaves me speechless time and time again.

  • Favorite song off of my favorite rap album.

    Genius.

  • "and i dont comment if you form your little weak zen"..mystics can suck my very real nuts

    tHNx

  • i think this was a diss track to Gershwin....

  • it's not....he frequently uses "broken Gershwin samples"...and why wouldn't he old school jazz has influence hip hop beyond measure

  • this song is about SAVING YOURSELF

    duh..

  • Can someone explain me the lyrics? I'm a frenchie and I don't get anything, but I sense it brilliant.

  • @FFIYA way too hard to explain it took me 2 weeks to understand the lyrics and they are still unclear to me

  • @FFIYA cant explain these lyrics. i doubt even aesop knows the meaning of every line. there is a lot of "nonsense" poetry in this song. actually its more part of his style.

love aesops lyrics him and Sean/Slug from atmosphere are my two favourite rhymesayers

  • tooth of a bazooka

    T.O.N.

    ThnX 4 tha memz

  • This was the first Aesop Rock song i ever heard...

Needless to say i was hooked instantly:)

  • VVAGE SLAVERY, BABY

  • great song

  • though its far from a rip, i cant help but be reminded of saviourself by J.M.T. the spanish guitar and title- but this shitz still original and fresh as hell

  • not even close besides the title

  • uhh yeah it is. like i said, not the same, but a little similar. spanish guitar-title subject matter- the rhythm isnt far off either. soo yeah

  • alright instead of being an ass and just backing up what i said at first ill change my statement and agree with you. the guitar is similar but the tempo is different. this is a more pushing beat than jmt. jmt is slower and more distinguished i guess if thats the right word. but yeah they are kind of similar. both good songs.

  • dang he goes fast on dat one part

  • illest

  • @d2thh725 umbrellaseance youtube em he is said to be the greatest rapper alive

    aesop rock old teamate

  • Comment removed

  • went all twista on the middle part

  • yea the bass tone is merlin

  • sample used in this song was taken from the movie stargate

  • this is like the cat's fuckin pajamas. i just got bitch slapped with talent. right in the balls. thanks for posting :)

  • aesop's 12 step shut the fuck up seminar. brilliant

  • u serious, i should go beat ur ass for that one

  • This song is about how aesop feels about the people that are out to "save hip-hop". He obviously feels that what "they're holding aint really broken."

  • or a warning to those who are just about to embark on their so called carreer

  • @Padooshka I used to think it was all about hip hop but it isnt its about life, this man is truly gifted in a manner that his lyrics will speak to 10 different people and give 10 different perceptions of what he is saying. One Brick and Bent Life are 2 of the most moving songs I've ever heard

  • wow...that's it. wow.

  • please dont watch the response

i am still disturbed by the chick dude looking i dont know wtf...

  • aak ool rap altered

  • dope song

  • wow ... fantastic lyrics... phew...

  • man aesop rox songs are all really sick they are all good listening music cuz he doesnt curse like a retard..hes got his own distinct style hes awesome

  • You know what i like the most about Aesop Rock? I can listen to a song 10 times and each time i listen i hear something new in his song, something i didn't understand in the previous hearing :-)

  • fucking rights buds i listen to my aesop collection over and over for weeks and dont get sick of him just music for earthworms songs get skipped sometimes

  • same, except for that last part.

  • i kno same here, id hear something new at least everyother time listening to one of his songs

  • @Happyanand69 couldnt have said it better bro, hes mindblowing

  • Its the name of the fucking album you retard if you don't like it than dont click on random fucking songs.

  • It's NOT the album, it's the artist. ;\

  • TECH! wtf it just gets better. great song. thanks.

  • Ace..."What are you saving? Honestly? Honestly?/ Honestly?/....What are you saving? Honestly?/...Promise me / you gon SHUT THE FUCK UP and recognize what you holdin' / ain't really broken" /

  • Ohh shit, this is deep. Have you actually listened and understood these lyrics? It blows my fuckin mind

  • your a fuckin idiot i hate how ppl consider other artiest as a reminder, bro this is aesop rock! not slim, not atmosphere or some mainstream dick!! THIS IS HIPHOP SAVING YOU FROM THE PITSTOP!

  • shittt you dont need drugs for aesop to be the dopest emcee ever

  • but it sure helps!

  • dude you have no idea the first time i heard this song it was on the radio and i was on acid it totally mind fucked me when he broke it down all i ever wanted was a getaway

  • straight blasphemy

  • I'm sorry. Truly.

  • WHOAAAAAAAAAA you stop that

  • ahh thank you

  • you should listen to this song when you're really high... soo fuckn awesome

  • couldn't have said it better myself...herb always helps hip-hop out, thats why hip-hop's never gonna die

  • @ajcarralejo man herb helps everything out!

  • @ajcarralejo well, with aes your missing a puzzle piece without psychedelics. Weed may not make you "Trip", but it's still labeled a psychedelic. But... You throw some mushrooms, mdma, dmt, acid, ect ect into the mix and aesop can change the way you look at the world.

  • @poinnovate lol. label weed whatever you want but if you call it a "psychadelic" well that's just plain retarded, I include the government in this statement...

  • @merockstar420 well, a psychedelic basically means something that when injested alters the way you look at things, to keep it broad. Although this is typically restrained to basic things such as a heightened sense of humor, it still applys.

Not to say that weed is anywhere in the same ball park as something like p.cubensis but, yeah.

  • @ajcarralejo whats when the herbs all gone? :D

  • @ajcarralejo unless everyone stops smoking herb lol

  • @GomestaProduction Well thats never gonna happen lol.

  • @sv650andres05 I have. This song is sickkk when your blazed.

  • @sv650andres05 worst song ive heard in my whole life

  • Every song off this album is a classic.

  • I would....agree.

  • I wake up and play 9 to 5ers anthem everyday

  • yehhh boy!

  • This Guy IS my calculus techer. He's better than this song though, it's an annoying type song...

  • i dont flick needles like my sick friend

  • "The bass tone is merlin.'

  • u gotta love the guitar pluck

  • Aesop will never get into a Soulja Boy fiasco like Ice T.

  • my fav track from labor days. dope shit.

  • Listening to this song now

  • "That'll be Six Fifty plus tip darlin,

I take cash, credit, check, money-order, gold and cigarette cartons"

  • there are so many quotables in this song.

"Once my shpeel's perfected I'ma save you a seat in the front row

Of Aesop Rock's twelve steps to shut the fuck up seminar

And when all these bickering crowds turn solid you gon be proud"

pretty much aesop is all about

  • "next time you wanna be a hero, try saving something other than hip-hop and maybe hip-hop will save you from the pitstop." tell em aesop

  • this song is dope

  • This guy is my calculus teacher's nephew.

  • then tell that nigga i said wut up

  • Thats honestly really cool.

  • @VimmyxSDxNothing you shoulda had him come in and give an example of calculus vs-life.

  • @VimmyxSDxNothing does his uncle like his music? lol

  • @VimmyxSDxNothing where does he live then?

  • @VimmyxSDxNothing thats really confusing but i understood it haha

  • @VimmyxSDxNothing
