While it's frozen, you eject the disc and insert another disc, like a game that has an update that you don't want to do, or a PS1 backup, or something. It's not just a thing like he did!

I found another exploit, if you have a power outage, the ps3 will turn off, to stop this happening I turned off the ps3 first. It works for other consoles too. I tried it on my 360 and PS3 at the same time, neither had any problems, I've even got my TV to do it also, no more sudden equipment turning off. PowerOutages for Dummies made easy!

@Oasistudios you can prevent a game update by putting in another game, stop the loading as seen, then insert the game (that needs to update) remove the memory stick and it will load without updating.

during the freeze period you eject your game, insert the back up, then eject the mem stick. You can also eject the game, insert the back up, then remove the stick and it'll still think it's the same approved disc and allow you to boot.

(message for crmat3rownz) if you have a 40gb playstation 3 there is no memory card reader eg. sd card slot and memory card slot., so that could be why you cant open it. only 60GB and 80GB have these memory card slots. hope this helps

i really don't see the point of this, and i wouldn't call it a hack, similar things can be done on a pc, if u load a large file to about half way, then stop and quickly attempt to run a program, the program wont run until u cancel the load operation

When you have the frozen screen. You can replace the game with the PS2 back-up. Thus effectively the PS3 will not stop the back-up from loading.

That .tif file is actualy some bootloader made for the ps3 wich was originaly made for the pc. It can boot backedup dvd movies and ps1/ps2 games. It can not run ps3 games. We can all hope a custom firmware comes out soon tho :)

No. By doing this you can possibly play playsation 1 back-ups. The Playstation 3 wont let you play back-ups of any kind unless you use the exploit. Basicly this is just to show that if we mess with the exploit we can play ps3 back-ups
