  • Man, how does one explain this drum work? W/every little bit of my brain let me try! Just when you think their about to be out of sync they slam you methodicly dead bang! Electricly charged robotic, thundered deliboracy! Non-sensically brilliant! The music coming full circle is followed with an elliptic orbit beat that drives home the meaning in the lyrics! A planitary swirling of beat and lyrical content revolving opposites in perfect balance! Add Gene and...! Damn! GOOD STUFF!

  • Phil Spector's wall of sound.

  • i saw this great man live only 3 days before he died was one of the best concerts i have ever seen RIP Gene you are still missed

  • 1 person has no soul

  • This song is a tear jerker, liked it the first time I heard it and its stood the test of time.

  • Actually, I had heard that this song was produced in England and some of the Rolling Stones (who loved Gene) were in the studio.

  • Great song. Love it. RIP Mr. Pitney. His voice was unique....Town Without Pity. Another hit by Gene. Good stuff. Thanks for posting rwells47.

  • Let's not forget theat Alan Lorber was the arranger for both Every Breath and Raincoat. He was also responsible for tons of early 60s hits

  • Arguably the finest song Gene Pitney ever released and definately the most compelling. It soars!

  • A Masterpiece of Sound !!

Phil Spector and Gene Pitney creating a moment in pop-radio's Golden Hour.

  • Spector produced Sammy Turner's epic "Raincoat in the River" the same year, 1961.

  • It's excellent how you can mix rock with a symphony. Beautiful.

  • it was worth it to spend $14,000 on this one!!!!! great job Phil!!!!!

  • Spector ?

He was a scumbag even then.

    Then he graduated to murder.

  • @joestonbely Even scumbags can produce great music.

  • The young Spector burst on the scene like a nova, and Pitney was just the man to make it happen. Brilliant neo-doowop, a classic.

  • Every aspect of this song, it´s production and performance, is soulful and brilliant.
