Sure Fractal does have a better quality but it's 20 bucks more and MUCH heavier. Plus the Fractal may be unavailable in certain countries (like here in HK). The H2 is not really THAT bad as u described. =)

how does build quality affect things in a practical sense? yes, i know the padding/magnetic top/optical drive bays are flimsy and weak, but how does that affect much, apart from MAYBE a little bit of extra time actually putting drives in or installing the fan? it seems to just be an aesthetics thing to me

I bought this case after watching this video. Love the case. It seems like the magnets on my top cover are alot stronger, because you can't remove the cover by accident. They hold it in place quite nicely. People should not pay to much attention to self proclaimed "experts".
Thumbs up to Tom for telling it how it is. If case manufacturers want to build sub-par products and pass them off as great quality, they should continue sending them to Linus. I appreciate how Tom sees through the advertising material on the box and actually reviews the products he features.

While its good to install a harddrive on the tray because you can bend the tray to poop the HD in (they design the tray to work like this)
But removing the HD is impossible. You CANT bend the tray and if you're not careful you can damage the PCB board on the HD. The tray does not isolate vibration from HD at ALL. NXZT should learn ALOT from Lian Li
You are more thorough on the most aspects of this case, but you forgot to give it your goldstar! The one you promised to give the first case that would rout the front USB3 liked you wished for in your 600t review, which the H2 case does. :P

If u are an NZXT fan-boy that doesn't mean u have to blindly charge in and say that its good its great and stuff like that. There are times when a favorite brand of mine does something stupid and i point that out. It doesn't mean i am no longer fond of that brand but it just says this product is no good and this is one example of just that. THIS CASE SUX!
@uzor123 He's the only one I've seen so far that's pointed out it's flaws. I wouldn't buy it. I'd rather put up with the issues of my Antec 902.
I think this case just sucks all round. Apart from the front fans and the bottom sliding dust filter. I wouldn't want to deal with the limited space between the edge of the motherboard and hard drive bays.
@uzor123 The problem with almost all of the people who makes reviews of PC components is that they get the gear for free, and if they give too many negative reviews they will no longer receive these components for free from the producers.
Buttom line: You have to be very skeptical when you read these reviews, because they might not be very objective.
While I agree that this case is not worth the price and is pretty crap quality, and although I am a fan of the Fractal Design cases, their Define isn't exactly "unique". It was pretty much a re-branded but slightly modded Lian Li PC-A71F from the start, just without the logo. Hell, Lian Li are the manufacturer of Fractal Design cases anyway.
I totally agree with you on this one mate we shouldn't be expected to put up with this type of workmanship now computer cases have been about as long as computers so to the designers have had enough time to go with the technology.
Thank you for saving me from buying this peice of trash, I have been trying to decide between the 650D, the R3, and this, and while... this case reminds me of why I'm ditching my current NZXT, if you even slightly touch the ODD covers on my M59 they fall inside the case, and the thing is a bitch to open up to snap them back into place.
Funny to see 3Dgameman giving this case a kickass product recomendation. Its far from kickass, and i think this must be some of the worst cases ive seen a review of.

Basically, if you regularly watch toms videos you know that he speaks his mind and is not bias. After seeing this review i would never buy this case. If everybody would know and follow toms channel, this case would have no chance on the market with higher price tag.

I think it is great that you tell the truth on how you feel even if it may upset the manufacturers, although this could be a plus point for them if they respond to your feedback positively by using stronger magnets, better plastic etc it would really give them kudos with the purchasers to know they are a company who cares what people think (which I am sure they do). I also know they have been good to us in the past so hope it continues.

@zer0l0w Amazingly if you are thinking of the White R3 then NZXT Hale90's come in white and thats also what I used in our competition rigs so I would definatelly suggest one of those so it all matches and looks the part. If you are buying a black one then get a Corsair unit. You dont say what your rig is so I cant say about wattages.

The performance is realy amazing with 2 xNvidia 560. So now i want to use my old components (ati HD 5870, Intel Core 2 Duo 3Ghz) to build a media server and for that i need a case and a power supply. It should be realy silent and i realy like the look of the R3 in white.

If games and big budget then some 650W/750W enermax .Its one of the best and quiet.
if games and smaller budget seasonic is quieter than others, corsair tends to be little louder under load.
Anyway R3 should be able to keep most of quality PSU inaudible on idle. And under load its not that terribly loud and game sounds should cover it anyway.

Your reviews are very detailed and honest, which I like. However, I recommend two things for more engaging reviews.
1. Get yourself a clip on mic, so we have full rich audio of you talking.
2. Try to plan what you're going to say before you say it. 5 minutes of this video could've been cut if there wasn't all the pauses, "ums", and stuttering. Maybe record your videos and segments, then splice them together in a video editor.
Lian Li PC P50WB if you want a fully fledged gaming case that actually looks sleek and professional, rather than a tacky eye sore like a HAF X or antec whatever. Some people may think they look good and so might you. Your choice mate
@fxscreamer I'm only speaking for myself when I say this, but damn, I don't want more robot reviews read from a bloody script. The reason I come to OC3D/TTL is because Tom doesn't bullshit. The reviews are honestly FAR more genuine than some of the others out there. I like the rants and the 30 min videos. They are relaxing, easy going, fun and informative.
To be fair mate, he's speaking his mind about the products, and given the amount of subscribers its obviously an opinion that alot of people respect. Scripted and rehearsed reviews sound like they could have come straight off the notepad of a companys PR guy, like many other youtube reviewers. This is why I subscribed, and why I wouldn't buy many components without this blokes nod.

Forgetting the skiddy magnet cover. The style of the top fan cover and the dock bay cover look like random old car speaker covers from the yard just placed on top. The R3 and antec P183 have a clean flat look, the NZXT odd size top covers ruin it
Very cheap and nasty finish. The Phantom is very good quality case and should've been easy for NZXT to be on par with the R3/P183
R3 is a bit bendy at the top too but way better overall

That review was hilarious. The words "horrible" used about 3 times "cheap" used about 11 times, "crappy" used once and "horrid" used once along with a barrage of other negative words were used to describe the H2. Those words really did stand out in this review and they out weighed the positive words you used like "good". Scratching the side panel and breaking off the black clip thingy. LOL. Because of YOU I bought the Phantom and because of YOU, I will NOT buy this. Thanks.
Have to agree with most of the things you say, but i don't agree with the harddrive part. I personally have have issues with my graphics card beeing humongously big, covering the harddrive space so that i can't add extra or remove harddrives without actually having to take the graphics card out. The fact that you will have an easier time removing adding drives in this one is quite nice.

I got experience from both R2 and Coolermaster Scout.
I don't own a NZXT buy my friend does and i've seen it, it has some new and smart solutions and the air flow is not so much better than the R2.
The thing i find funny is that the material of R3 is more plastic than the R2.
I never said that the nzxt is the best, it is great and do its job.
That is my opinion, sure you can say whatever you want and i respect that, dont start a shitstorm please.

If games and big budget then some 650W/750W enermax .Its one of the best and quiet.
if games and smaller budget seasonic is quieter than others, corsair tends to be little louder under load.
Anyway R3 should be able to keep most of quality PSU inaudible on idle. And under load its not that terribly loud and game sounds should cover it anyway.

@TimeToLiveCustoms Well, if they make poor products then there's no loss! It is bad considering they also make good products that you have also reviewed honestly. I run a much smaller review site called Gundog Reviews, we're trying to get off the ground really. You have to be honest otherwise you won't get any popularity, but nor will you get any products if you have to give them a bad review. Fortunately we have never had that trouble yet! Once again, keep up the good work!

Your reviews are very detailed and honest, which I like. However, I recommend two things for more engaging reviews.
1. Get yourself a clip on mic, so we have full rich audio of you talking.
2. Try to plan what you're going to say before you say it. 5 minutes of this video could've been cut if there wasn't all the pauses, "ums", and stuttering. Maybe record your videos and segments, then splice them together in a video editor.
Keep up the great reviews.

@fxscreamer I'm only speaking for myself when I say this, but damn, I don't want more robot reviews read from a bloody script. The reason I come to OC3D/TTL is because Tom doesn't bullshit. The reviews are honestly FAR more genuine than some of the others out there. I like the rants and the 30 min videos. They are relaxing, easy going, fun and informative.
Don't ever change the way you do this stuff Tom!!

To be fair mate, he's speaking his mind about the products, and given the amount of subscribers its obviously an opinion that alot of people respect. Scripted and rehearsed reviews sound like they could have come straight off the notepad of a companys PR guy, like many other youtube reviewers. This is why I subscribed, and why I wouldn't buy many components without this blokes nod.

It looked very rough and cheap on the pictures around the net.
Forgetting the skiddy magnet cover. The style of the top fan cover and the dock bay cover look like random old car speaker covers from the yard just placed on top. The R3 and antec P183 have a clean flat look, the NZXT odd size top covers ruin it
Very cheap and nasty finish. The Phantom is very good quality case and should've been easy for NZXT to be on par with the R3/P183
R3 is a bit bendy at the top too but way better overall

That review was hilarious. The words "horrible" used about 3 times "cheap" used about 11 times, "crappy" used once and "horrid" used once along with a barrage of other negative words were used to describe the H2. Those words really did stand out in this review and they out weighed the positive words you used like "good". Scratching the side panel and breaking off the black clip thingy. LOL. Because of YOU I bought the Phantom and because of YOU, I will NOT buy this. Thanks.

Have to agree with most of the things you say, but i don't agree with the harddrive part. I personally have have issues with my graphics card beeing humongously big, covering the harddrive space so that i can't add extra or remove harddrives without actually having to take the graphics card out. The fact that you will have an easier time removing adding drives in this one is quite nice.
