Man! great cymbal! I definitively fell in love with it! this is the sound I'm lookin for, are you going to sell it or this video is only a demonstration?
Damn... I have one of these cymbals, but it has a small crack about one inch long, moving in perpendicular from the outside of the cymbal. I really want to play it but I'm too afraid to irritate it. Any suggestions?
Just drill a TINY hole at the end of the crack - it will prevent the crack from expanding.
If you hear a rattling sound from the crack, perhaps rivets (or a little chain) could cover it up . I drilled a few rides myself, and never had a problem.
@crampon1973 I cut all the way around a cymbal, by cutting a keyhole, youre not actually eliminating the stress points. so theres no guarantee that the crack wont progress. that is all :)
bosphorous and istanbul,do not make cymbals that sound and play like old ks. they advertise that, but they simply dont, although they're makin some nice stuff these days. if you want that old k sound, youll need an old k or spizzicinno.
after fifty+ of drumming... my ears may have susatained some residual damage..... but....i still maintain...new symbals dont do it for me....in gen. maybe the appriciation of sound resonance has changed over the decades...?
@zildmaster Spizzichino cymbals blow my mind. I found the ride I have been looking for for years and it was made by Spizzichino. The only downside is the $1,500 price tag.
they got lazy. they don't hand hammer any cymbals anymore. with zildjian you're mostly paying for the name. but don't get me wrong some of their stuff sounds great. i have a few my self, just they're not like they were a long time ago in a galaxy far far away
the families split up into istanbul, zildjian, and sabian. zildjian came to usa, istanbul stayed in istanbul (why theyre not so popular, sabian went to canada
Kerope Zildjian and Avedis came from the same family, but Kerope stayed in Turkey hand making K Zildjian and Avedis moved to US. Mehmet and Agop are two people that worked at the K Istanbul plant, but they're not part of the Zildjian family. In 68 A Zildjian bought K. Zildjian and after some political turmoil in Turkey moved production to Canada at the Azco plant. After Avedis died the two brothers Robert and Armand split, and Robert turned the Azco plant to Sabian as Armand went back to US.
i bought a old 22 zildjian for $50 off craigs list, it's hand hand-hammered, i think it is an old k or somethin gotta figure out exactly what it is, it has the moon and stuff on it, yeah i wish they would make more cymbals with better quality
is it sold?
