I only wish I could play like Otis Taylor on guitar, and he makes me wish I'd have learned to play banjo, too. He's a brilliant musician and songwriter!
@kathyuk28 Something like that. The character's name in the movie is Tommy Johnson. Check out the Odyssey sometime if you want perspective on the movie. It's what they based it on.
This song and this film are 100% complementary! I'm surprised I never thought of it! They are both refreshingly folksy and very nostalgic for me. Thank you for this.
this song was not in this film? but it is one of the best films ive seen and very funny! if it is in the film then i totaly missed it. but i have the sound track for this film.
This is my all time favorite movie. The song "Ten Million Slaves" was featured in the Johnny Depp movie about the life of John Dillinger, "Public Enemies." The song is on Otis Taylor's CD " Return of The Banjo."
@cvvemuri I don't want to be "that guy" here, but something is compelling me to point out that the fact that both movies share a common character is in no way irony, it's coincidence, sure, but irony is a contrast between what is expected and what has actually happened.
@cvvemuri I believe you mean coincidence, but even that would be incorrect because the character Baby Face Nelson was an actual person... Its not like both creators accidentally made a character that had the exact same name of which both robbed banks.. come on now..
such a good song!

The irony is both Public Enemies and O Brother Where Art Thou share a common character - 'Baby Faced Nelson'.
cvvemuri 2 years ago 35
Hey........good one man, I didn't even notice. They even have the same scene with him hysterically laughing and firing a tommy gun.
mikechen121 2 years ago
I was thinking the same thing, I wish they'd done more with Nelson in public enemies though.
SwordsmanMercenary 2 years ago
