  • I'm both happy and sad about the fact that its polyphonic now. I like that you can pitch shift entire chords now, but ill miss the glitchy monophonic sounds of my older whammy.

  • how much it cost?

  • How does it sound on a bass??

  • Do people just ignore the fact that Jack White also uses the whammy pedal?

  • @MichaelHarrisGuitar if you ask me, he has used it the best out of any other user

  • @5Harring I agree completely, although I must admit I'm not too familiar with any of the other users.

  • @MichaelHarrisGuitar yeah also billy corgan uses it pretty well on a few of his stuff, as well as some tom morello

  • @MichaelHarrisGuitar Joe Satriani, David Gilmour, Steve Vai, Dave Weiner.

  • Does this pedal work well with droped tuned chords? if so better than morpheus's ?? Thank you guys! :)

  • literallt best whammy vid out there :D

  • does anyone know if you can replicate the digitech bass whammy's setting 5th up/oct up harmony setting using both sides of the pedal at the same time?

  • 9:16 Fat riffs!! Can someone tell me...is this essentially the old digitech whammy but with new features?

  • What an idiot! 09:09

  • Idont know why but I wouldnt trade my whammy IV for this ...

  • kinda boring that they just play some Morello Riffs in every demo of the whammy

  • @ijumitzu Maybe cause Tom Morello is the Whammy Master

  • FUCK... i want this

  • @guitarz418 Bea, (afro dude), plays in Robs band, haha

  • I know that the whammy dt has to use it's power supply but do the whammy series 4? I checked on mine and I thought it said it was 9 volts

  • is it an actual song at 5:12?

  • If I was getting into guitar now, this mess would put me off to be honest.

  • what band is that guy in? not rob. Afro dude

  • i think i heard a little bit of RATMs Voice of the voiceless

  • Lot's of RATM riffs getting raped here haha, awesome though. They need to rename this pedal .. "Wanky" seems more appropriate. :)

  • does this work with a bass too?

  • 10:24 ! Nice!

  • Like a stone

  • He man

  • a must buy.can make a 6 string a 7 string, and a 7 string an 8 string...at the touch of a button.Revolutionary

  • so they just add an harmonizer before the whammy.... mmm..... oh and the momentary function mod can be done in every WH4 for less than $10...... instead you got double space dimensions and more expensive?...... no thanks......

  • @saturnoenllamas it seems to track allot better and the gain loss/true bypass thing is quite a massive improvement

  • the only reason i would be to dive bomb and i didnt see anybody really use it or show if it was possible u could do

  • what this music the 3:52 / 4:15

  • @nicolastxable Sounds like something from Karnivool.

  • It's like 3 morpheus pedals in one (droptune, capo, bomber). Wich is better the morpheus polyphonic pedals of whammy DT? I read somewhere that guys from digitech started the morpheus brand so maybe the same technology here. Maybe it's a marketing stuff, making different brand names working under a big one just to fool people they have a choice :)

  • OK the guy in the red shirt can play the guitar, but he is fat, ugly and with a shocking hairstyle. He could do something about two of those things.

  • @dravidwake you strike me as the kind of guy that's sucks his mums cock. You can't do anything about that though.

  • I used to have the WH-4 but the tracking on it was so horrible that it rendered it useless, especially when trying to play higher chords. Does this new version track better? While your video is pretty sweet, you should try to show the other applications of it, like using it for spacey clean chords.

  • @Phantazmelodia It's polyphonic, so yes it will track chords.

  • I NEED it.

  • Is this new Whammy DT Way better than the classic Digitech Whammy??

  • 11.00 Red shirt guy played solo "LUNA SEA's IMITATION"~!!

  • @xhibitionism it's actually a tom morello solo from the time he spent in audioslave

  • I love that guy's hair!

  • I don't think there is a proper use for any whammy style pedal besides misusing it the us no proper use

  • stop doing that horrible tapping thing!!! its so annoying... just play guitar...

  • I didn't want one until 4:49

  • I cant come to terms with a whammy bar, this pedal could kill me...

  • pause at 0:04 for great lulz

  • @RobChappers where did u put the distortion in the pedal chain?

  • @dintubeDK did you not watch the vid? they followed the manual that said keep a clean signal into the pedal.

however, try it both ways. maybe get some wierd sounds :P

  • @robchappers is that your tele? if so its pretty sweet

  • Bea's face at 10:23 is extremely distressed.

  • Very nice review amazing keep rolling !!!!!!!!

  • That guy's got some epic buzz Ozbourne-style hair :D

  • 00:36 - 00:57 He man woman hater solo :D

  • What this music 1:18 / 1:32

  • @nicolastxable Limp Bizkit Rolling (air raid vehicle)

  • @nicolastxable Limp Bizkit - Rollin'

  • Thats cheating.

  • @dreadfullguitar can you make these sounds without the pedal? and also, do you use a distortion/gain/OD pedal?

  • 9:09 Dickiridoo.

  • You guys could make me buy anything haha

  • wooow Limp Bizkit is on tha house!

  • Also known as the dragonforce pedal.

  • @scorpia616 more the tom morello pedal

  • @gitariff so true!

  • @scorpia616 : Screw dragonforce, these guys do it better, haha. Joe Satriani and Steve Vai are excellent with it too.

  • @DJParkesie959II So true!

  • @scorpia616 I thought this was the Tom Morello pedal! :D

  • @theheretic100 Tom uses an original Whammy

This is a Drop Tune Whammy

  • @cmzangetsu1993 it's an original whammy with more harmonies and whammies and a drop tuner attached to it

  • @VintageburstStandard I know he was playing RATM... I was making fun of you because you said paying not playing...

  • Digitech only made this pedal because Electro Harmonix made the POG and Morpheus FX made the DropTune and CapoFX as well as their own polyphonic whammy pedal. Otherwise this pedal would never exist.

  • @mr4y Though i have the whammy and pog in my pedal board and its like the ultimate combo

  • @mr4y this Whammy is Capo, DropTune and Bomber pedals on a single box man. Im not saying that whammy is better then all of them but you can save some space on the pedal board

  • @reikofact My main concern is that this pedal try to be too many things at once. The Whammy had lots of calibration issues over the years. I also don't think this is a bad product. My main questioning is why it took so long for digitech to release it? They had to wait for two companies to make products that could end their whammy reign, so they could lift their lazy asses of the chair?

  • @mr4y Agree 100%. Perhaps they release this new version until realized their WH-4 dissapointed a lot of users wanting/waiting a little perfection since WH-1 or WH-2. Bad for Digitech.

  • This demo makes me happy o_o

  • What's in the water over there? Everyone he knows is amazing at guitar.

  • Rob, what you refer as the 'version 1' or 'the older version' is actually Whammy IV, right? I guess you're not talking about the old now expensive as hell black Whammy I.

  • i want one of those bwcause of this video! also whats the song at 3:52 cus its one of the best things ive ever heard ever from anywhere

  • @a7x3908 cheers man. it's nothing written. i was just jamming really. glad you like it though. i'm gonna buy one of these after playing with it. so much fun

  • I like the afro guy!

  • Didn't know the English Kool-Aid had a fro. Sure can kill it on a guitar though!

  • KEEP TROLLIN TROLLIN TROLLIN TROLLIN

  • 7:32 is chilling.

  • is it polyphonic this time around or does it have a polyphonic features? i'm one of the few people that didn't like the glitchy sounds from the original whammy, love your vids by the way, great to see a guitar teacher thats enthusiastic about playing guitar, keeps me inspired, cheers. =]

  • I hate such digital sounds!! However two names come to mind who use it awesomely...tom morello and of STEVE VAI!!

  • @nemogre-listen to Searching by Joe Satriani. The whammy pedal riff is one of the most creative things I've ever heard.

  • PUR-CHASE!!

    i love that word

  • And I just bought a Digitech Whammy 4V last month. Fantastic.....

  • You suck badly at paying RATM

  • @jajoosp I dont think he's paying RATM in this video...

  • @jajoosp You suck badly at recognizing Audioslave!

  • @starius16

so since when Fistful of Steel is an Audioslave track?

  • the whammy is like marmite you either love it or you hate it.

  • More Bea-awesome from now!

  • "The new whammy pedal is stupid, all they did was add a morpheus droptune to the original whammy" *watches andertons demo* "sweet lord...... i must have this"

  • @holleyab It couln't be a stupid idea! :)

  • Chappers looks tiny at 01:35 ! Nice video !

  • @mapexdad that's hilarious!!! well observed ; )

  • the bit at 2:40 would be awesome with a slide

  • the guy with red top looks like the man from coheed and cambria

  • the guy with red top looks like the man man from coheed and cambria

  • And so the quest begins to find the lost comment of helmsdeep48

  • So... JEALOUS. I always wanted a Whammy pedal. ._. Never able to afford it.

    Hahahaha.

  • I FUCKING LOVE WHEN CHAPERS FRIEND DOES THAT TOM MORELLO THING :D

  • 3:02, I was lulled into a deep sleep until this point

  • I have no interest in buying a Digitech Whammy I am only watching this vid because CHAPPERS IS AWSOME!!!!!

  • @RockGuitarDave I AGREE CHAPPERS IS AWESOME

  • Respond to this video...COOL BUT NOT IT IS NOT THE ORIGINAL DIGITAL WHAMMY. TO DIGITAL OR ELECTRONIC SOUNDING.

  • Imagine Hendrix with that thing !!!

  • @ray7469

nahhh he had his fingers, nuff needed

  • @ray7469

    Everybody would be trippin'... :P

  • Wow chappers, your first playing sounds like the band Element Eighty! :D

  • Limp Bizkit !!! hehe

  • This is AMAZING, do you know if you get these kind of effects on a boss GT-10?

  • @OBPmusical I got a GT-10 myself and yes there is this effect ! =)

  • @Lyudiato WOOO! how do I get it up may I ask?

  • @OBPmusical There is an expression pedals on the GT which can be use as a wah wah pedals or volume pedals etc... Now go on the "master pedals FX" option and turn the selector on "pedal bend FX". You can also setup the fx , that's all.

  • @OBPmusical The GT10 (like most mulit FX units) has a whammy immitation, but none of the multi FX units do whammy as well as the proper Digitech unit.

  • That's a great review, thanks a lot guys!

Though there's one question that bothers me: how well does Whammy shift complicated chords? Do they sound clear or there are some distorts?

My G-major2 handles complicated (or whatsoever they are called, I mean not just A or Am, but A7 or things like that) chords really bad, shifted chords sound like some alien shimmering chaotic disaster.

  • @kantefier

This pedal does a really good job of keeping your sound nice and clear. I would imagine that the lower you decide to pitch shift the chord, the harder it will become for the pedal to do it comfortably. But for most things relating to your question, it's pretty awesome!!

    Cheers ; )

  • @kantefier We found the shift function seemed to handle anything we threw at it - I'm not sure how complicated our chords are, but we didn't notice anything trouble the new Whammy.

  • Polyphonic so no matter what chords you play it tracks to a T like the POG or HOG by ehx.

Don't know if that helps with the info, good demo by the way.

  • The detuner on this sounds better than the morpheus droptune

  • @RandomGuitarist96 i just got the morphues, its pretty good

  • @MrAsymmetriphobia I have a morpheus too, I like it, but it's kinda annoying when you go down and it messes with your tone :/

  • @RandomGuitarist96 same here :(

  • @RandomGuitarist96 yes your right about that :(. I also don't play with my amp set loudly, so i hear the acoustic note next to the amp note, and that sounds weird. but overall i like it and what it can do.

  • rob! how come you haven't done any Mad Professor reviews?

  • ULTIMATE WIN OF ALL PEDALS

  • LIMP BIZKIT!

  • I want to plug my guitar into one of them whammy's.

    AND a Cornford amp!!!!!

  • 02:38 killing is my business

  • It must be great fun to use such a whammy with a sustainer.

  • to hear this pedal used perfection in a song check out "first born" by just like vinyl

  • Tom Morello solo at 11:02!..

  • @champ10allamerican This solo had to be in this video!

  • That amp sounds not so great. Not very responsive.

  • ratm & audioslave _\,,/

  • Using a guy with an afro of win as extra sound proofing was a great idea.

  • it's cool to see two great guitarists use the same pedal in very different ways, gives a huge range of demonstrations.

  • :O I fucking love that momentary switch!! Might have to redneck me one of them from an octave pedal..no way i can afford one of these right now

  • Amazing pedal and awesome playing guys \m/

But what is the song from around 1:28 +

  • @igovoom sorry 1:18 :D

  • @igovoom lol. it was an attempt at 'rollin' by Limp Bizkit.

  • @rabeaafro It was pretty badass if i may say so :D Mucho respect \m/

  • rabea is really good, he knows how to play and how to use that whammy :D and rob amazing as always!

  • Great tone off that tele

  • My ears are bleeding, thanks!!!!

  • Rob i must say at 8:15 that's absolutely beautiful!! I kept replaying it.. love this review thank you guys for your efforts!

  • i dunno why but this pedal cracks me off.

  • why are you a beast rob?

  • This is like the opposite of all the crappy guitar videos you see posted by stores with loads of thumbs downs and people saying how crap the players are. Your the only ones doing it right guys!

  • 01:18 ROLLIN' ROLLIN' ROLLIN'

  • Chappers I must ask... is it something that is genuinely worth having or is it just for dicking about with? XD

  • @phlorgan I loved it mate, it's really a writing tool... I think that's the best way to view it - If you write a good riff/song with it then it's worth it. Don't just get one and shred lead, it's not that kind of tool ;-)

  • @RobChappers Ah right cool, thanks for that, sounds like it may be worth getting one when a) I don't suck at composing and 2) I can actually play decent solos that dont sound like they came out of a cereal box (Y)

  • I enjoyed this demo :)

  • 04:39 Is this a part of any song ?

  • @VoidOfEulogy i was just trying out some octave riffy stuff really. i don't think it's part of any song though.

  • Dan didn't get to say goodbye!

  • you guys use cornhole amps

  • 2:42 thats some straight up Vai shit hahaha

  • Comment removed

  • where's suicide note part 2!?

  • By any chance is he a Tom morello fan?:)

  • @21stCENTURYBOY12 i am a bit of a fan. that's the first thing that i thought to play when i had a go lol.

  • nah...
