Hm. Not sure what I think about using a lot of foodstuffs on a styrofoam dummy which will then be thrown away. Isn't there a less wasteful way of producing these tutorials?
@syyspilvi : using a Styrofoam dummy is common when practicing piping techniques. The frosting is scraped off and the Styrofoam is used over and over again. Doing this for practice on real cakes would be wasteful.
Thank you! I was asked to make a three tier cake of this fashion for my cousin's wedding but I wasn't quite sure how I should position the bag and tip to get the appropriate effect.
I saw this cake on a blog today which led me to your site. I loved the look of it so much I decided to come here to see if someone had a video demonstating the technique used. Lo and behold here's the video from who else but you!!! Thanks for sharing! I also featured Sweet and Saucy Supply on my facebook page today. Just type in Nishto Neshto Boutique if you'd like to see the post.
Thank you!!! I love this.. I actually tried it tonight and it came out perfect. I used a swiss buttercream icing and it tastes wonderful. I will definitely be using this technique in the future!
Love this cake so much!! I'm planning to make this for my daughter's 6th birthday and I was wondering how much buttercream you need to make for the bottom tier?
Thanks everyone for your sweet comments! The tip that I used in the video is Wilton's #104. As for sizes I would say it is an 8" bottom with 4 layers of cake and three layers of filling and then a 6" top with two layers of cake and one layer of filling.
Would you do the ruffles on top over the entire top - Or just the border?
Could you please tell us what size petal tip did you used? I know you said "small/medium" but I really like the size of your ruffles and wanted to try to reinact it. Thanks! :) Beautiful!
I'll be making this for my sister's bday! hope it turns out as nice.
