@Omnipotentguy420 almost. They have the same beat, but different lyrics. A moment of silence is about how the smallest actions can affect in a big way. This is about how we cant stop with violence
@gioDKM if you compare them to every other band, ska, punk, hardcore, metalcore, metal, basically all rock. You can definatly put them in the top ten. Because like, not only the stuff like, musical talent, but look at all their albums. If you take the time to look at how each album is connected, it kinda tells a story. And kalnoky knows this. And i'm suprised he could write so much of it. Espically his project BOTAR. i would love to see whats going through his mind (lol ima musician) so yeah.
hey guys if you like ska and love this band, check us out. We are a ska band from Georgetown Ontario. We are a blend between reggae ska and a little mix of hardcore. we have free music on our youtube page. Check us out One love Half Beat just search halfbeat on you tube!
@obamafan8 Not exactly... the music's altered as well. The brass in A Moment of Silence is supposed to sound like funerary trumpets, in keeping with the title of the song; here it's twisted more into a clarion call, a call to arms, to reflect the altered title. Also, the two verses are different. The whole song's been tweaked to sound more active and less passive.
@Dvividxx There's the first wave, which is essentially a precursor to reggae and rocksteady. I believe it originated in Jamacia, but I could be very wrong. The second wave, or "Two Tone" Ska was in the 70s and was essentially the "British invasion" of Ska music. Finally we have the "Thrid Wave which is a blend of ska and punk-rock like streetlight.
@mainecolbs It's more like first wave was the 70's Jamaican Ska, with Prince Buster and the like. Then second wave was in the 80's/90's with bands like the Mighty Mighty Bosstones, that's where the black suit and checkered patterns comes from. Then you get third wave in the 90's with Reel Big Fish or Goldfinger, who are more like punk rock than reggae or "traditional" ska. And then you get streetlight, who are pretty original for ska, and some people are calling "fourth wave."
@ihappy1 First wave was definitly in the 50's and 60's whereas second wave was late 70's - mid 80's Third Wave stuff is late 80's to now. Calling a fourth wave is silly because thirdwave bands are still up front and center. I think a backsplash or a resurgence from the lack of ska in the 2000-2007-8 is more appropriate.
this song gets me pumped i feel like running and jumping and overthrowing governments. cuz its my last chance to make my mother and my father proud. Who wants to join me in overthrowing governments???
@spawn2192 that such a poser thing to say if you truly wanted to overthrow anything you wouldnt post it on here.smart one. not trying to put you down just telling you anybody can see everyhting thats on here
from what i heard, this song is the track right after a moment of silence, on the CD, so it's like a second part, that's why they have the same chorus and sound very much alike =)
the chorus in this song isnt even the same as a moment of silence. example: in this it says "the final mayday of our sinking ship has come at last" where as in a momnet of silence it is "the final mayday of our sinking ship has COME AND PASSED"
Why is this song so similar to A Moment of Silence? The tune, especially at the beginning is the same, and so are half the lyrics. I guess the title is almost the exact same too...
they were made to be similar to each other. They also both pause and yell "OH!" and say "How long do you think you can go before you lose it all." and in the verse when they say that the music is the same!!!!
I intended to use this song on a Sniping Montage I am making for CoD4: MW. It's just too short to fit all my stuff in. But I guess I'll have to trim some of the footage off because I am determined to use this song. Ahhh, if only it were longer...
I considered a repeat, its just I always thought they break the flow of a video. The beginning is similair to the end but the end has more of a saddened sense to it. I guess a loop is a good choice though.
@stolencheezburger ok first off i'm on the internet typing on a youtube video is this better for you? i don't give a shit about my spelling online i can easily spell perfectly if i wanted to. And second off you don't really have to be such an asshole about it. And third off Taking into consideration, Tomas Kalnoky is a musical genius. He's up there with the great musical artists in history. He has started a new wave a ska, has created this unique ska/acoustic/folk/classical/world sound that
@stolencheezburger nobody has ever done before. To create your own style of music, and make it work this well is something big. Being a musician myself, i see how perfect this band is. The whole band has amazing skilled players, incredible lyrics that all fit together well if you look at the whole thing, and musically... it's out of this world. It's so unique. People have no idea how amazing he is. Mozart was also hated in his time, but i'm not saying he's like Mozart. Point is he's outstanding
@stolencheezburger And streetlight isn't even my favorite band. I like a few bands more than streetlight in my personal view, but looking at it as a musicians view, they are one of the best musicians/bands/artists of all time. Lol and sorry about such a long comment.

Moment of Silence is better in my opinion, but this is basically that but faster, with a more angsty tempo. Still really nice. SLM + Coca-Cola = Relaxing Evening.
