The state should have no right to regulate movement (of people or goods) over its borders beyond that necessary for public safety. Protectionism is harmful. Tariffs in general are rights violations, although port fees to cover safety inspections are acceptable.
Income taxes are rights violations. Wealth taxes on all property protected by the state are fine. Land Value Taxes are the most just taxes. Taxes on negative externalities are good, but arbitrary federal, state, or local taxes are not.
@magister343 well, tariffs worked well, and when NAFTA, GATT and WTO removed them, capital flight began toward slave-labor countries. So it's harmful to capital, not to the People. I agree on LVT.
