This man just epitomized the blues, it was truly in his blood, which was probably blue in color, whatta' legend, that booming powerful voice of his could cause dried paint to peel. His guitar sidekick, Hubert Sumlin just passed away 12/04/11, I'm sure heaven is really rockin' now, with Howlin' Wolf & Hubert Sumlin playing together again, but only now, they can play on forever. R.I.P. Howlin' Wolf & Hubert Sumlin, you both have left lasting musical legacies...
The piano sounds slightly out of tune - but out of tune these guys sound better than most of the (c)rap being played today.
And to the old stodgy white radio program directors in Cincinnati - you are long forgotten and Wolf and Muddy will live forever. Man I missed some great music as a kid. It's good we have youtube so I can listen now.
@DONNIMETROPOLIS313 yeah i until about :45 sec mark i thought it just wasn't together. Now, I think it was the piano players fault more for he should be following Wolf. The sounded like they were playing two diff openings.
All these bad ass blues dude would come to the bay area and play the clubs and the filmore, and show us how its done in the south.Play hard and party harder.
i cant believe people are mentioning that little pricks name up on a masterpiece like this with the legend thats howlin. sick off the shit all over blues artist videos its wearing thin.

There are really only a few Musicians who can play the Blues like it sould be, the most are trying hard, but the most fail so hard, Howlin is one of those Outstanding Blues man !!!!
All blues players are the forefathers of jazz and rock. I agree about these young men and women who rap-listen to real music. This is the birth of todays music.
Yeah Wolf is surely the greatest! I'd challenge anyone to show me a more soulful heatfelt performer! Every time Wolf stepped up he gave it total commitment.
@djangolad I would contend that Otis has a place at the table with Wolf. His performance at the Monterey Pop Festival in 67' is one of the best live performances ever. It just drips with yearning, verve and down and dirty soulfulness. I think we should just create a knights of the round table so that all the great blues and soul artists can be represented. Although that would be one big ass table.
@TheSkootertrash - Please, leave rap out of it!...This is excellent music...but you can say the same about any other music....what the hell is any music. Country music talk about immoral situations like any music.
second to all the RAP HATERZ.. i wonder if african americans go to vids for grand old opry musicians and make racist comments concerning the state of modern rock.... stop being stupid, stop being racist. your just bringing up rap because this artist is black. stop with the racism.. i know it's hard. but there are plenty of hitler vids and nascar ads on this website so... have at it:)

There ain't no skinnier or whiter kid then Johnny Winter, and he's considered one of the best guitarists. Bob Dylan, Neil Young and many others don't have a good voice but they had a different voice, history wouldn't be the same with out them.
This song makes me think about my grandmother and her friends listening to the blues drinking, laughing and talking about there man,and life.on every saturday evenings,as the time would go by one them will end up shedding a tear, sometimes i would see my grand mother cry and ask why are you crying ?being a young child of the sixties she would just look at me and say one day u will understand!that the memories can make your heart shed a tear.GOD BLESS ALL THOSE BEAUITFUL SOULS !thx HOWLIN WOLF!
the merger of Sumlins fresh inventive Rockin rhythms with the Wolfs Dark Howl together create an important marker in the history Rock. I particular he moment in time when blues becomes Rock.
I wouldn't describe him as an "excellent" guitarist. Not that his guitar playing was bad by any means, but it wasn't his forte. His real talent was his voice and his passionate vocal delivery. The legendary guitar tones that you hear on those immortal Sam Phillips recordings owed more to Hubert Sumlin rather than him. But it's his voice that made those records the legends that they are.
This is why I got upgraded speakers.

The Wolf was my favorite, was blessed with seeing him perform in the 60's. Great video.

I heard Howlin' Wolf but never saw him sing until today. Ten times more powerful than I imagined it.

the merger of Sumlins fresh inventive Rockin rhythms with the Wolfs Dark Howl together create an important marker in the history Rock. I particular he moment in time when blues becomes Rock.

Pure Magic! Country boy done moved to the city. Hubert is always priceless.
