  • Thanks for this! I learnt a lot :)

  • ...BOB DYLAN !!!!!!

  • Bob Marley????

  • and Jim Morrison?

  • I have to do the same thing this year! Doing Hippies too! x)

  • There's no definitive 'origin' to the Psychedelic movement - the Beats were a continuation of earlier forms of what is most easily generalized as "Bohemian". There have always been those who feel the need to move the world forward and a good thing it is too. What was different about "the Sixties" was the sheer global size of it. Behind the beads and the bell-bottoms was Humanity entering its adolescence, the beginning of a new phase of Evolution.

  • Hippies, the children of Thatcher, it was fine to be a hippy if your daddy was rich and after you;d dropped out you could drop in again just as easily falling back on daddies money, It was a rich mans thing. Hippies went on to become the buisnessmen and women in the 1980's, they laid the foundations of the Neocons, there philosophy of individualism was pure Thatcher. Punk was a much more honest movement

  • drugs, dirt, and disease

  • proud to be both beat-nik and hippy....wrong....it was SEX,DRUGS AND ROCK&ROLL.....OH...AND MARLEY HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE HIPPY MOVEMENT

YOUR SCHOOL REPORT IS A FAIL

  • Just two things. I wouldn't think of bob Marley as part of the hippie movement and you forgot to mention the Vietnam war.

  • A very interesting piece, thanks for posting.

  • Good Job !

  • I remember the mini-skirts.

  • That's the way that every work from school should be (:

  • filthy fucking hippies

  • @potato2442 What do you know, but war and hate it seems, you unfortunate person !

  • @FridgesWithAppetite No one cares what hippies say, no one LIKES what hippies say, and no one except other hippies like hippies because they do drugs they need sensible haircuts and there annoying with all their BS, conversation over nuff said.

  • ALL I KNOW ABOUT HIPPIES is they was against the values that they fighting for... -and you can imagine taking LSD and all that stuff, who could you have a REAL reason?? -RST

  • You don't need drugs to love, I am not against drugs ( I think drugs should be legal like alcohol and pills). But you don't have to be drugged out to share love and care for everyone else.

  • hippies suck they just do, nuff said.

  • @Alexslayer30 That is like rejecting an invitation to paradise.

  • The "Hippie Movement"... Listen little girl, Good effort for your project but dig deeper. Or just start a " movement " among your piers and generation that will change THE WORLD for the better, like us old hippies did . I do respect your effort to understand though. Pass your knowledge on and gain more...

  • The narrator sucks! She is AWFUL!!!!!! It takes the impact out completely! yuk!

  • I enjoyed this even though the necessary stereotyping has missed out a number of influences: best 'hippy' band was Pink Floyd AND Bob Marley did not become widely known until 1972-3!

Hippy period started in America but the definitive soundtrack came from the UK

  • 10 dislikes ?

    Fucking Christians again !!!

  • @cspace1234nz fuck you hippy piece of shit, your scum to america with love, gay fags, and drugs fuck hippies. Im Christian bitch

  • @potato2442 lol, jep you are a real role model..

  • @potato2442 chirstians dont curse you cursed six times in that comment

  • The word "hippie" was also a derogatory term coined by the older generations. It was used in the 1960's as an insult to the counter culture movement. The term "hippie" originated in the opium dens of the 1920's &30's. When people smoked opium, they would become so relaxed that they would often slouch onto one hip when sitting. Something that was a taboo in that time, as correct posture while sitting was expected. Thanks for such a great video report!

  • The grateful dead originated in Height-Ashbury and were eating LSD from the start. and yes, hippies certainly are everywhere. I'm a bit of a flower child myself.

  • The Beatles and Grateful Dead didn't write music for the hippies. The song Revolution you have playing is not about being a hippie and /or hippie revolution. It's kind of the opposite. The Grateful Dead didn't even wear tie-dye. I've seen interviews where Jerry says that fans just started showing up wearing it. The Grateful Dead were hootenanny's.

  • NICE JOB! LOVE THAT VAN!

  • two years on a great synopsis ladies - keep it up - but dont wok for the sun!!!!

  • nice job sweety

  • -1..

  • thanks for your help! :D

  • Great video--A+!

  • Hippies are just NORMS watering down what freaks were doing.Slavishly following what mass marketing told them what was "hip".It is to be remembered that the word "hippie" was coined by newspeople in an attempt to villify. That`s why the freaks held a funeral for "Hippie".With their large numbers and the vote, why is grass still illegal?Answer that and you will know what "hippies" are.

  • great video man

  • I´m born 1945. Do I have to say more?

  • @Leffus66 do you remember where you were in 1967 to 1969 if you do you weren't there lol

  • Super !

  • Hippies (liberals) ruined the world.

  • @ChrisKaliber exactly

  • @ChrisKaliber ... If you Sir are basing your opinion on just this video, then I can understand how you can validate your opinion, but not all hippies are like potrayed in this video. I am conservative and back in my active Hippie Days, MY Brothers & Sisters were clean & wore clean clothes, most had a job & were both conservative & Liberals. But back then, politics was not a big issue with us. We just did our thing & tried not to step on other peoples thing .... MellowNature.

  • I lived through the late 60's & early 70's & being a part of The REAL Hippie Movement,(And VERY PROUD of it), I will tell YOU that I DON'T totally agree with everything that this video is trying to portray Hippies as or was. BUT when deflated, it does reverberate some of how it really was. For instance, even though everybody wanted a clean Earth, the term GREEN WAS NOT used or even around in the 60's & 70's. It's still a fun video to watch although inaccurate in some area's. Good Job & Thanks.

  • @MellowNature could you tell me when did the hippie movement actually begin? some say that is was native americans, others in the 40's, 60's, etc.

    thanks!

  • Great job, very nice editing of clips. I posted this on (I Remember Woodstock) a Facebook page.

  • Nice job Dansin.

    Very educational

  • where is JiM MoRrisson?

  • @moonlightdriverdarks i here he's alive and living in the florida keys, although he doesn't use or drink anymore, he just reads alot of books.

  • forgot the doors! D: duhh

  • from a old hippy... nice work.. enjoyed it

  • is so pretty

  • Good job honey!

  • Hehe, standard stereotype review. Not quite that simple... but whatever.

  • Oh yeah, and don't listen to the haters honey - they are pretty much the polar opposite of Hippies. They hate everything except their own material possessions (and hate those who have equal amount of them or more). Sure some hippies abused drugs - go out into the streets and count all the alcoholics today and tell me that that's better. Sure they had sex with whomever they wanted provided consent, go out there and take a look at sex-deprived priests and tell me that that's better

    Peace and Love!

  • @rollovfilm The Curse of Greyface

  • @rollovfilm The Curse of Greyface

  • Awe..... and such a sweet voice to do that with :) Nice job, that bus that appears first in the series around 3:40 is absolutely AWESOME in person, you'll just have to get in with us, the hippies, to know where it's parked ;-)

  • As one of the self-proclaimed Hippies...I have to say you did a very good job in your research. Your presentation is nonjudgemental and I like that. Those of us who have tried very hard to hold on to the ideals of the hippies, sometimes find it hard to discuss politics or social issues with younger people of today...lol....it is strange to have a 45 year old telling me...a 56 year old, that I dont understand politics and social issues.....LMAO. Anyway.....loved your report!

  • Thank you. We are still alive and Peace on Earth!!

  • Google ''Free Love Society''

  • I GOT A FUCKEN F!

  • I praise your effort & research, but I think you are categorizing a group of people too diverse to belong to any particular doctrine or way of life. There's many "hippie" lifestyles or subcultures and u have to immerse yourself in to truly understand. These ideals trace back to middle-eastern spirituality like Taoism & Bhuddism. India tends to be a popular reference for the birth of western world "Hippies." U should check it out. Personally, Im a "techno-hippie" theres another breed for ya!

  • i live in austin and hippies are my life :) great video

  • Nice job!

  • sweet

  • whats is the song?

  • Some are the grandparents of the "occupy" MORONS...

  • hahaha

  • hey look all you hippie freaksters looking for a free handout, and welfare checks, and all you occupy people , you you you are crazy!!.......go down to fishing hole and grab you self a cat fish and eat it you you you all should be in a Rob Zombie video at super bowl halftime that way you you you will be EYEDENTEFYED and shipped off to cookamongo.......thank you for your time have a great weekend..................the rev

  • Good job!

  • George Harrison visited Haight Ashbury in 1967 to get a look at the Hippies and came away disillusioned. They lived in communes where it was share and share alike. There were no couples. Everyone had sex with whomever they wanted to . Their children were not their own. Hippies had no personal property whatsoever. It was a form of communism. Some would work the streets begging and busking for the good of the commune . Sure, many people dressed like Hippies, but few adopted the cult-lifestyle.

  • just got to tell ya that the hippies were using drugs just like people use em today to get stoned.

  • LOL. I just found out at the end of this that she sort of had the same name as me. My name is Danielle and hers is Danie. Boy I wish I could make an iMovie about something more interesting than the Revolutionary War. I hate 7th grade , but ya gotta go through schooling to get to collage and get a degree in engineering to invent a time machine so I COULD VISIT THE PAST! :) Oh that would be fun. Even had a dream about it , and I was so excited. We were gonna go somwhere fun , but it ended.lol

  • The hippies are back again. Its now called Occupy Wall street.

  • @piscataway15 Ain't that the truth :) but like every generation they think they are special and their Idea original! Some old bag of tricks just different players!

  • nice vid

  • WE changed allot it is because of us people are not carring draft cards. We wanted a change we wanted the war to end. We wanted to be free. We wanted to be ourselfs not told to who to be. Yes I'm from the 60's black floppy hat, hip huggers no shoes, halter top long blonde hair and two little kids following behind me. Yes we do allot. You do a wonderful video thank you :) Peace

  • Youve done a real good report on this !

  • LSD was for the thinkers not the doers..which were most of the population who try and do it since it was created..it is sad for such a powerfully profound substance to have the reputation it has as it is, a class A drug..i think what timothy leary did wasnt so smart

  • @wtficantgetausername think if he suceeded though

  • @clearpancho he never could i think..but if he did

  • @wtficantgetausername Dr.Leary was for clinical use of LSD.He wanted it in the hands of trained doctors. When LSD usage went rogue he offered advice on how to use it for personal growth and self programming.

  • I hope you got a good grade, but.......Hippies still suck! ImI

  • I hope you got an A+; this is awesome and I was there.

  • Well done.

  • That VW is so awesome.

  • Wow, Great job on this! I loved it :)

  • Cheers, love Janis her glasses. =D

  • thanks:)really nice

  • Wow totally amased hooooooray for your wisdom and intelligence no im not mocking you :)

iff only more ppl would be like you doing research and thinking for themselves the world would be a better place.

Peace and good fortune to you dansinwithamy.

  • nice job sweetie hope you got a good grade

  • This was beautiful. You really did a great job compacting the hippy movement into a few short minutes.

  • awesome job!

  • It's funny too see how the hippies joined the system and became money hungry and greedy like real people. I did enjoy the easy sex till the girls got capitalist and realized they could sell there pussy instead of giving it away.

    Joe-R

  • is it really that us army was shooting them?

  • I wish i lived back then...it seems so cool! ...but i dont really get...like what was their purpose? and...what happened? why isnt there anymore stuff like that? life back then was much more interesting!

  • @lulisalulaid ...you're very right...and there will never be another time like that again. I tell my son that the 60's were the most wonderful time in American history, and I wasn't much of a hippy at all. In fact I never took drugs, ever. It was a time of great hope and promise...we hoped much. This vid portrays mostly the downside of those days unfortunately. But most everyone thought differently, and old ways were ending, while new ways were to begin. America was different in a good way. Love

  • @bharfarar I tell my son that the 60's were the most wonderful time in American history,

incredible statement. thousands of the poor being sent to viet nam to die or become wounded. blacks treated no better than the 50's. the baby boomers grew up to do what? help put the country in the state is is now.

i look to this or some future gen to shape a better world. the 60's certainly did not do that.

  • @bea78tles I don't think it's about weather if it was the most wonderful time, but of the significance of people breaking the Norm and heading into unexplored territories be that socially sexually or politically solely in the name of peace and togetherness that there's more to life than money and power and that if we really worked together for the better we will get there,a feeling that anything was possible. might not have been the most wonderful time but certainly the most inspiring(for me).

  • @lulisalulaid

they wanted a natural, peaceful lifestyle. the gov. doesn't want large groups of people getting together. they want us to be afraid of each other. like terrorist threat.

this video leaves out so very much. in the late 60's, the idea of hippies was turned into fashion & money making. Dr. Leary was important in the movement. w/good acid, no bad trips.

a generation criminalized cos pot & acid are illegal. acid shows the truth & the gov. w/do anything to stop that.

  • @cherrybomb2600

    Hey, thanks :D I think i kinda get it...now....

  • Very nicely done ... wish we would have had something this cool to do in History! Actually, my favorite term project was on the history of surfing, when I was a surfer. That was pre-beat, pre-SF days ... and of course, pre-computer! Peace and Love ...

  • The arab world is going through the same thing with there overpopulation. But instead of peace and love its blowing the shit out of each other and allah akbur

  • Can't you see Hippies and Beatniks have the right idea. It's really want everyone wants deep down. :) Why is it so hard for others to see.

  • I was married to a girl who started as a beatnick in Yorkville Canada, then the entire area morphed into Toronto's version of Haight-Ashbury; she became known as one of the best known hippie girls, and knew everyone on the scene, because she was there before most of them were. I was a litte younger (born 1951), and felt like I had just missed the main pulse. It's great to view all this and realize it's not forgotten, because despite the knocks on it, they were wonderful, amazing times.

  • Thank you, youngster, this is a beautiful history of the flower days!!! With much peace and love from an old hippie from the 60s!

  • Peace and solidarity <3

  • America's biggest mistake.

  • @dadecountyhustler305 youre the biggest mistake of your so-called home country :p

  • Cool!! Thanks man keep on groovin, peace!!!!

    u,k Hippy.
