  • I didnt know zsa zsa was that great a singer;)

  • I think both movies are wonderful and enjoyable, I hope others do to, and can respect both movies styles of direction and mood. This is my opinion anyways.

  • Excellent imagines and a great impression of film. As it is krnown art is in the eyes of the

    beholder,experts get your life.

  • this movie is bull shit , i want to see nicole n ewan not this fuckinn asshole

  • UGGGH I thought this was the new one. DDD:

  • FUCKYES. I found love.

  • Best watched whilst drinking a few glasses of absinthe....the green fairy !!!!

  • I was brought here by the New Bomb Turks song Born Toulouse-Lautrec. One of my favorite lines from the film is "Curiosity is my cardinal weakness." 1:35:57 My favorite line from the song is "No heroes, no leaders, no artists, no God." Punk rock is educational.

  • that french lady is CRAZY!!!! jeez how could that poor man put up with her? they made a crazy ass couple

  • its 10/12/11 @ 02:49 am eastern time. anyone else watching this right now? just wondering..

  • i love the moon

    XD

  • Merveilleux;je n'ai de mots...Sinon Merci/°)

  • In my experience, all nobles and most royals have calling cards. There's great protocol re what should and should not be included.

  • King of Serbia has a calling card. FTW.

  • This is FAR superior to the remake. Classic, excellent!

  • @brainouty But Baz Luhrmann's musical Moulin Rouge is not a remake of this Moulin Rouge. They are two thoroughly unrelated stories. They both happen to feature the same historical figure in the same historical dance hall, and they have the same title. That's where the similarities end.

  • i was 9 years old when i first saw this movie. it was inspirational in my becoming an artist. still awe inspiring....

  • hey, there, the new moulin rouge was fantastic modern art. just because its new doesnt mean it couldnt capture the period and art it was supposed to. both versions are good.

  • I cannot help but laugh, laugh, laugh at all the people who really believe that Baz Luhrmann's Moulin Rouge! is a remake of this Moulin Rouge. Really? Really? LOL! Just because they feature the same historical figure in the same historical building and have similar titles, one is a remake of the other? Are those people incapable of understanding the vast differences in the storyline, characters, and overall theme? Lautrec was a clown in Luhrmann's production. Lautrec is a tragic artist, here.

  • This was the 6th film called Moulin Rouge, 7th was Kidman. The orginal film was a 1928 British Black and White.

  • teh guy in the top hat in the beginning has the biggest chin I ever did see, it must be a fake!

  • nossa

  • this was a good movie

  • And the Moulin Rouge exists today, BTW. They have a website, etc.

    And they ain't cheap.

  • @11jjmd Short answer? Alcoholism, mainly. Bad habits, overall.

  • @Evilmike42

@11jjmd By Bad habits, Mike means syphilis.

  • UM....SWEETNESS 8D!!! I've never seen nor heard this movie before. Without YouTube, I never would have.

  • Jose Ferrer in one of his greatest roles. The other one, of course, is Cyrano DeBergerac......

  • Yeah

  • I think I like this version the most...

  • I cant undersand a word they say. The other version of Moulin Rouge is sooooooo much better.

  • @staytonanna Its just because you were brainwashed into being less intelligent than the last generation. We are the first generation to have less of a grip on our own language ever.

  • more realistic version, so uglier? yeah...

  • SINCE WHEN CAN YOU WATCH MOVIES ON YOUTUBE?!?!?!

  • @Horror1011 i love zsa zsa gabor and i just now got this movie in a store i was in recently zsa zsa gabor was a legendary movie actress pin up girl and a beauty queen but i had no idea she had turned 95 already i forgot when her birthday was at first well happy delated birthday to the legend long may she be known as the great zsa zsa gabor legend of the silver screen! and i love what she does. enjoyed her on fresh prince. yes the policeman did hit me and he deserved to be slapped!

  • Thank you, Goldenclassicmovies, thank you! Thank you! Thank you!! THANK YOU!!! <3 <3 <3

  • Zsa zsa had a cameo part. The actresses name was Colletee Marchand.

  • GREAT classic! thx!!!

Btw, this is NOT a movie about a whore, but about a famous painter!!!

  • GREAT classic! thx!!!

  • original XD

  • loved it,thanks....

  • creo q yo tp sabia q uno podía ver las películas.. desde cuándo!!!?????

  • Seriously don't say this one is way better, because you can't sit and appreciate the authentic story. This movie is based on real life events, the newer version is just a flashy remake. I'm not saying the newer one is bad, the singing is good, it catches your eye, but this has authenticity, and depth.

  • @LunarLudaAngel Well, no. Baz Luhrmann's Moulin Rouge! is most definitely NOT a remake of this Moulin Rouge by any stretch of the intellect. They feature the same historical figure in the same historical building and have similar titles. That's where the similarities end. They are thoroughly unrelated stories. As a sensible person that has watched both, I'm sure you'll agree that one movie really has nothing at all to do with the other, if you sit down and think about it critically.

  • Zsa Zsa is the best.

  • WTF I THOUGH IT WAS THE ONE WITH EWAN MCGREGOR AND NICOLE KIDMAN FUCK OFF! -.- t('.'t)

  • @amadezxxye so did i thats the good 1

  • A MOVIE!! WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

  • Oops it wasn't 1991 was it ! 2001 or whatever year it was :D

  • WOW! I just finished watching this, what an incredibly beautiful film. The colours, the clothes... the tragic story . The 1991 version is brilliant, but this is brilliant with a cherry on top :D

I'm so glad i've seen this, thanks for posting it..I came on to see if I could find and watch the modern film as my dvd drive has packed up and instead found this. Next click Amazon to buy this on dvd :D

  • what ?

  • What a wonderful job Jose Ferrar made of this!!!

  • SOMEBODY MADE A FILM WITH THE SAME NAME, GET THE FUCK OVER IT.

go find something better to do with your time than sit at home on a computer arguing with people you wouldn't have the bollocks to argue with in person.

  • WFT 2 HOURS AND IT CUTS OFF THE END!?!?!

  • A bunch of goggle-eyed fangirls giggling at musical numbers versus the subtle, emotional performance of Jose Ferrer, master of tragicomic figures? Yeah, I think we can guess which one most Youtubers would go for.

  • Start Wtf. Moulin Rouge with Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor was a mess of anachronistic songs and dance numbers mixed together with eye candy for young imbeciles; some of their comments are found below. This movie is about the real Toulouse-Lautrec and the real Moulin Rouge. It's set in a real city called Paris, which is in a real country called France, and it really happened in the 1890s. (France is, like, another country that's, like, across the ocean and shit.) End Wtf.

  • wtf is that the new is 100 % better thn this shit

    ???? whyy????

  • @squii28 This IS the good one. Dumbass.

  • @rubiesncreme really, what about the 2001 version with ewan mcgregor and nicole kidman, thts my favourite

  • @squii28 I knew what you were talking about. This is better just in the sense of being a movie.

Yeah, I have pretty strong feelings about film.

  • @rubiesncreme lol, ur like me, only im only 12 so i like the modern one better

  • @squii28 That's a shame. You should go back in a few years and watch 'Cyrano de Bergerac' with Jose Ferrer as well. You may come to appreciate in time. Hope so.

  • THANK GOD FOR THE 2 MIN ADDS THAT RANDOMLY COMNE UP

  • Nicole kidmans version was better i tought :D i cryed so much :'(

  • that is my best film

  • It's sad how many don't appreciate old movies. I must say that I do prefer the always exciting and talented Moulin Rouge (2001) however, this is a good movie too. I also feel the same about The Phantom of the Opera... except 2004. That remake was not good. I liked the 1989 and 90's remakes.

  • its a vary lovely story but i like the lively and exciting new one much more. never a dull moment and crazy!

  • xD where is Evan McGregor ^^

  • When was this even posted?

  • wow. gorgeous film :)

  • far more better?...canny english

  • 22 dec. 1952?!

  • Masterpiece!

  • woooow...Zsa Zsa Gabor was awesome. O_O

  • I didn't know this was about toulouse-Lautrec! Yeah, I've been under a rock. I can't believe that this 1952 movie wasn't rated X then

  • Superb movies just don´t come any better than this. I have loved this movie since a teenager and it still hasn´t lost any of it´s magic for me.

  • wtf, you can watch movies?

  • @polarjeez if its old enough yes we can lol.

  • @polarjeez Some. Depending on the user, some movies will be uploaded fully instead of part by part.

  • @polarjeez THAT'S WHAT I THOUGHT

  • @polarjeez ikr, never knew

  • BE-AU-TI-FUL!!

  • The one with Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor was far more better...

  • @lillian90005

Philistines! You do not know art. This original movie is superior to the sensational and boring new version with Nicole Kidman. "....far more better?"

  • @islandfunhouse: While I do not find the remake boring (w/ all of that visual eye candy, it certainly is not!) I do agree w/ u. Today's youth are sadly so misinformed. They can only appreciate art from their era. What's even sadder is that if they were to speak w/ their modern day heroes (like Kidman & McGregor) they would find out that they actual APPRECIATE the original version. Most of today's holiday Hollywood pay homage to "the golden era" because they wish that they could be apart of it.

  • @lillian90005 I found the visuals in the remake so tacky it was unwatchable for me, I tried three times 2 watch, can't make myself spend my time that way. Plus, it had nothing 2 do with the real story of Toulouse Lautrec. I thought Colette Marchand's Marie Chalet was brilliant, she brought the grit of the Paris street world 2 life, I couldn't feel the real Paris at all in the remake, it seemed like the disney version. Suppose that is what folkz have been trained to like of late, VIVRE McDees!.

  • @lillian90005 this is about the artist who did most of his work at the moulin rouge (toulouse-lautrec) this beats sexuality and poor acting any day.

  • @lillian90005 No. NO. JUST NO.

  • @lillian90005

    Not as good as ZsaZSa

  • @lillian90005 Unlike your English.

  • @lillian90005 Not better, just different. The real Lautrec would have enjoyed it immensely, no doubt.

  • Toulouse had Waaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyy too much absinthe. I LOVE the way the girls do the can can....MUCH better than the kidman film

  • Hate the end . Give him a happy end. Not to die

  • Ahh! I love the McGregor version! But I wanna watch this one too! I don;t know there was an original! <3

  • Daaaaaaaaaaaat aint no MOULIN ROOOOOOOOUGE!

  • One of the best films ever made. The last 3 minutes make me choke up ever time.

  • I was 12 years old and "floored" by this movie. So authentic looking, Ferrer as Lautrec was serendipity. The music, the dancing, the costumes...ah, what more can I say. Delicious bittersweet memories and thank you so much for them.

  • @Cupcakealex i also saw this movie as a child. the beauty of it influenced my whole life.
