  • wheres the copter?

  • There is supposed to be a different number of blades on top as those below in order to counter the blah blah blah etc.

  • This rotor head does not provide any way of turning left or right and there is no way to pitch the blades, So all you have here is a peice of CRAP!! Did you research how rotor heads work before you built this one?

  • Counter rotating blades cannot have exactly same headspeed because if they did, you would never have rudder control. How do you handle the rudder ? Seems your blades are locked into relative headspeed towards each other.

  • @oysterlicker tail rotor. BAM

  • @chrismofer dont need one, thats why you use counter rotating blades, to get rid of the entire tail of a helicopter.

in this case it looks like they locked together so you would need a tail rotor just to spin

Kinda defeats the point of counter rotating blades :-o

  • @Me102288 no i entirely understand that mechanism and not needing to counter for torque. but i'm saying for yaw control it would be used. because, yes, they are locked together.

  • @chrismofer so you agree this is kinda pointless for a no tail heli..

ya, me to, you need 2 engines an 2 axle's for a proper NOTOR :-\

  • @Me102288 i don't fully agree that this is pointless for a no tail heli, because if you could change the pitch of the blades that's another way to differentiate torque and turn the heli.

  • @chrismofer that wont work without changing the elevation of the heli. :-( and If I recall, could create so much torque it would snap the rotor hub (apply to much pressure on one side of a counter rotating fixed gear device) the exact reason they use independant axle's, one will slow down more then the other or they both do it at the same time. :-(

  • Hello i am building one about like this and was wondering if you could give me some advise, i was wondering if you could tell me the right dimentions? thanks cole

  • I wish to purchase that exact model

  • Where can i get one

  • where can I buy that propeller?

  • what about lubrication of chain and spider gears?,why not a belt drive,a wide belt 3inch with forged aluminum pulleys, need a sealed unit[spider gears]

  • where can I buy the counter rotating blades ?

  • WOW!!!

  • WOW!!!

  • What! those things come out of a car rearend!?????? please tell me they did ! I'll build one!

  • @indianchief741 yes they did. 1987 Dodge 3/4 van to be exact

  • Hallo, können Sie mir bitte Ihre Emailadresse senden.

    Norbert Braun, Germany

  • also there is no guarantee that there would be a counter rotation as you prooved when you first started rotateing that.

  • @docscot11 ........I'm not sure what you're talking about. See the videos of the rotors on the machine running

  • @docscot11 Its simply an illusion. watch it again imagining they are counter rotating. you should see. @NickMonteleone he sees the top rotor as rotating in the same direction as the bottom rotor because he perceived it wrong. its called an optical illusion. the brain does weird things.

  • The problem i have is the friction on the spider gears, how do you plan to keep them cool?

  • @docscot11 ....The spider gears are in a can which has 90w oil.

  • I suppose the big problem here is manufacturing a universal extending drive shaft arragment to drive the small chain sprocket, from the engine, one that dosnt "bind" at full tilt and max torque, and wont whip at 6k rpm...............Peter

  • I want one!!! Amazing!!!

Still don't see how you are going to control yaw without blade pitch control independent of each other, or speed of the props independent each other, or a tail rotor

  • same principles as a car differential (Spider gears) :)

  • Best idea i,ve seen yet with and auto mobile rear end. Pls have you dad breath away from the camera next time. Couch cough ,whew bad breath! LOL. Nice job on it though all joking aside. Cheers bud, looks good!

  • im planning on makein a homemade swashplate

  • Say, how you gonna change the drag of the blades?

  • good work!! does your engine attach and tilt around with the head?

  • at the shaft pointing down to the right of the large sprocket. The engine shaft attaches to it. What i dont like about this is that chain, i would swap it out for a cog belt that's atleast 2" wide if its gonna be holding more than 200 pounds or if its gonna be flying for extended periods of time.

  • beautiful.... good luck!!!!!!

  • nice to see ya here:D Iam from da yahoo group, so how is it going

  • Perfect!!

Thanks Mike of this link. This will be the most interesting project! Please guys keep us informed about this perfect way to fly as "Skywalker"

  • Nick, Excellent work !!! An inspiration to all of us back at the Back-Pack Helicopter Group. At your rate we might be seeing some testing by Spring !! Wish I could be so far along !
