Hey what we do in Cali for the drive shaft, like u said people say it comes loose. We take a dremal and take that lip on the metal yoke and grind it down that way it's closer to that output shaft and with only one grub screw it holds it in place. I've been using one grub screw with an LRP brushless system and it hasnt backed out at all.
project overkill in............TUG OF WAR!!!! nobody could out pull that thing even king of the hill hummer. thanks for all the videos you post buddy. love them
Hey medic, i have an lst aftershock that was converted to electric and i use purple locktite on all the screws including my grub screws and it works great. i would highly suggest buying some. Thanks for the video's and KEEP ON RC'EN
@rctractorboy if you do that it wont work that well and makes working on the electronics a real pain because is you need to replace electrical you have to respray the connections, easier to get water proof parts. I have the SCX-10 and put a Traxxas Vellenium system in mine it works great and is water proof
Hey buddy. Just a point on driveshafts - the angle that the universals are working on needs to be the same at each end of the driveshaft, otherwise the diff will speed up and slow down twice every driveshaft revolution, causing a bad vibration. This may be the cause of your "jittering"
Will those locks that go on the drive shafts work on boats? because i have an MTB with 3 props, and i had them come undone before... really annoying. So just wondered if they worked. Cheers... Also, i hope to make a video of my drifting soon as you were the one who first got me hooked on R/C cars as before i was mainly on the boats.
Traxxas Stampede shafts are a little shorter, but stronger than Axial AX10 ones and would work well in your vehicle. If you wanted longer ones, you could use the Traxxas Jato ones. For the yokes on the transmission shafts, you could just use socket head cap screws instead of grub screws. They have to be about 4mm if I remember correctly (might need to grind them a bit). Also, it's possible to drill and tap the Axial hardened yokes, just go slow. Love the project and videos.
im looking at rc4wd>com and i see the Axial SCX10 4WD Kit w/Honcho Body , now would i want that? or Axial SCX10 TR 4WD Rock Crawler Truck RTR. what is the difference , because im not really gonna be mainly rock crawling. but i think by what i see he is getitng lots of rock crawling parts even though he goes through mud and does shit like that. so what would be the best option? Somebody please respond that knows their shit about rc trucks.
@madmatt9797 The difference in the 2 r one is Ready to Run. The other is a kit w/ aluminium links. The rtr has plastic links. But the kit u have to buy the electronics that u like. To me I would do the RTR 2.4 radio. Plastic links don't get hung up on rocks. Delrin would be the best option. Remember that the parts medic is using r hope up parts to better the performance which he chooses, depends on what ur gonna be doing. Such as Project overkill hope up parts for all that torque :0)

@ka12nage22 oh sweet alright thanks. also do you know if the back cage type thing on the scx10 can be taken off? like right behind the front body part
Great vid! love the new studio! maybe you could run some 1/10 monster truck tires instead of doing the duallies. that will give you plenty of traction, but still look kind of scale. maybe some trenchers or badlands.
@djmedic2008 could u make a film with something like u go out hunting/ adventuring and u find pinkie stuck in the mud and u save her or somthing like that?

P.S. are u gonna put a fender on that because it looks stupid with the wheels poping out
what do you recommend doing as a beginner? im looking to get into this rc building/mudding and trucking. but im not sure what to start off as , what im thinking is starting with a stock vehicle and put some water protection grease on the gears and shit like you did and then just build on slowly from there. what do you think?

hey medic, how many mm is the center drive shaft that connects the two transmissions together. i found one on r c 4 w d. c o m and the drive shaft is like 48mm. maybe that will be stronger then glue holding it together
medic were do you but the rc in canada or usa and can i have one of your rc pleas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! or just make a nother video menchning my name that i wonted to see the overkill in snow plowing pleas and thank you
Hey Medic, my Canadian friend. I must say how much I enjoyed this vid. Easy to understand, great shots etc. The Star Trek move is something I pray for in my life time.
Hi Medic.and friends, part #16270 black&decker screw extractor set work great!. A set of 5, in our industry, you will only be using the #1 and #2,good for 1.5 to 4mm. U also need a straight ,I prefe,or a t-handle, tap handle.Often you don't even need to drill the head, or use the according drill bit, and drill the head less than 1/2mm deep..Less than a 1/2 turn counterclock wise, the extractor will start removing the screw, even lock-tited in aluminum, effortlessly. Give them a try Bud..
@djmedic2008 How about putting some silicone spray(without acetone duh) on the drive shafts and letting it dry before assembly/use . It helps repel dirt/dust/water and also helps prevent binding on plastic to plastic parts.
@djmedic2008 Had a can of silicone in my rc car box and it sprayed all over when I was in the process of moving now all my plastic parts are shiny and repel dirt/dust/water. Areas with a lot of movement have to be reapplied after a few uses but it works for me. Just make sure you read the label if it says not for use on plastic, they means it. It will make the plastic brittle and crack due to the acetone.
i wish i had known about those collars when i was having driveshaft issues.as far as set screws backing out i used philipshead screws matched to the threads with blue locktite they never came out and held tight.
Bad ass truck. I have a question about the transmissions set up. Why couldn't the transmissions/motors setups be mounted upright, that way the output yokes would be more inline with the center of the chassis, possibly at a lower point, possibly eliminating the extreme driveline angle.
I bought those Drive Shaft collars this weekend!! They are awesome!!!! I had to ask Martin from RCBitz how to put them on, and he told me to put them on exactly the way you did. So we both win!!!
hey aaron the stock ones well brake i hade the same problem the drive shaft was at a angel like over kill in the front and when i give it throttle the would snap
its looking pretty sweet.. i hate to say it but im jealous of your spare parts pegboard!!! eventually i'll have something like that too.. but for right now im pretty sure my parents wouldnt like me turning the basement into a full blown hobby shop!!

Awesome vid Aaron this is Jon from Lethbridge. Glad to see the vids again. I check you tube multiple times a day looking for your new vids. I think the stock axles will fix your hop in the front. I have the same problem when I run the integy shocks with the MIPs on my SCX. The MIP's can't run as steep of an angle as the stock driveshafts. If you want to run the MIP's up front if that's what's causing the hop like it did mine then you'll have to lengthen the upper 4 links up front to clock/tip t

Ever notice with a parts/junk drawer, or box, ya end up cleaning it out after a years and then ya end up needing something ya have thrown out.
