I've been way into Motley since Too Fast For Love(yeah I'm that old). Personally I feel the first three albums they made were their best... That was until THIS one. This musically was a HUGE step forward for them. It's got a crunchy sound as that was what people wanted in the early '90's, but with John's voice, songwriting help and guitar playing, it really pushed them to a higher level.
Lose the thought of RATING RECORDS (unless you're ten); this record is really good... play it loudly (power to the music) and enjoy it... take off the depends
this is my fav. motley crue song including VN.... but i do have to say VN was a rockstar in every sense of the word. And people are just jealous, after hearing livewire, you just cant say VN sucks at singing cause.... he just doesnt.
@MrBluntsworth420 several factors, but here's the 2 biggies: For all his faults, Vince Neil is the face of MC. John's got a KILLER voice and can write good lyrics/decent guitarist. But....his voice doesn't hold up under stress, and he's not Vince(familiarity and attitude go a long way)...and 1994 was in the middle of the grunge wave. more to it, but not enough characters left to elaborate.
@bowslap I agree with you...Vince is the face of Crue and has more charisma (mostly due to him not playing an instrument like John). But voice doesn't hold up under stress? Vince is no better, his voice is notorious for having a lack of stamina.
@chineseafro2000 Oh, trust me, my statement was NO defense of Vince Wharton's vocal abilities...John is a better vocalist in every sense. BUT...there were several instances of John's voice going south due to his vocal delivery while on the MC'94 support tour, and that was what I was referencing. Not knocking the guy at all...just stating a fact.
corabi's only mistake when joining the band was keeping the same name... if he hadn't, those vids wouldn't be invaded by those vince lovers... guys, we know it ain't the same band, now just go 'home sweet home'
Ah, the never-ending debate about Vince vs. Corabi rages on....I love the Corabi album, it's full of great stuff, I always tell people who say "it isn't Motley Crue" etc. to give it a chance.....having said that, part of the the reason I became a Motley Crue fan in the first place included a very talented singer, a guy by the name of Vince Neil. Like him, love him or hate him, he's a crucial part of Crue's overall success, as are all of them - but NIKKI is the Godfather of the Motley machine!
Yeah, he sucks at singing, but you must admit it, he was the perfect frontman: He had the looks, women loved him, he had the perfect attitude for a metal band (Being a total jackass) and without faking it, he is a total jackass.
There are lots of good singers out there but they don't have the attitude, so their biggest gig will be singing happy b-day at their grandma's party.
if they would have changed the name to anything but Motley Crue, this would have sold better, it's a kick ass album but not Motley, that's why John quit, he knew it....
I agree with you, if they were called "as my heart bleeds", "ashes fall" or "whatever shitty emo band name you can imagine" this could have been one of the greatest in the 90's.
But they were the guys who used platforms and catchy songs with profound subjects like: "Being a fucking junkie makes me cool", "it's great being rich in LA" and "yesterday I banged 3 girls while drunkdriving in the Strip".
@airdave1961 exactly..he took himself way over it :P the saints of los angeles album has gotta be better then any other album they have come out with i heard they was suppose to be working on a new album!
The reason this album "failed" on the mainstream context is because it had depth.
Most Crue fans are uncomfortable with it's darker & ballsier sound. If Corabi was to stay until now, Motley Crue will be one of the more respected rock bands out there. With Vince, they are just a novelty act trying too hard.
To me their music was interesting because of Tommy... However, Bob Rock really believed Tommy is the best rock drummer we have, so he made it a point to accentuate it in the recordings. Dr. Feelgood also.
I guess it was their transition to the "post-glam" era. Many '80s bands disbanded in '92 or so. Without this album, maybe they would as well. Personally, I like the heavy themes in this song and in others.
Excellent album from the first cut to the last!!!! Been rocking this album for 16years and made alot of people fans of this version of Motley......Their heaviest...Bob Rock.....produced.
The video was great...very different from the band did at that time. John Carabi's voice was awsome, replacing Vince for a time...I missed Vince's voice , but Carabi as a stand-in was greatly appreciated and it worked!!!
This seemed like a band who had reborn from ashes...and with Balls of Fire and not sticky lipsticks and shit on their faces...Great track - no fuckin' chance...
bob rock out did himself again with this drum sound !! t-bone is pounding it away !! this is one of my favorite crue albums ..too bad it flopped commercially !! john corabi sounds a lot like a young vince on steroids...
way better bass and guitars! makes me me wonder if vince neil is a true puss, john was pretty fuckin good on this album vocal wise! the sound is true heavy muddy!
@soilstud7 Your right at first I refused to listen to it cause Vince was gone the, but one day I picked it up and I was hookeed from then on. It shows how much the band progressed from then until now.
What an album!!! The most undersetimated metal album, but the best motley crue album ever.
Corabi is a hundred times more powerful than Neil... the management and record company asked them to get Neil back, but the band wanted to keep corabi... and me too.
A lot of critics were harsh with the album. It's definitely the one that divided the audience. I think it's among Crüe's best, and this song is actually one of my all time favourites by the band.
Corabi vs Neil? No contest! Corabi, hands down. To me, Vince Neil's voice has always been whiny, and has gotten worse and worse with the years.
I crank this tune! Corabi blows away Vince Neil in my opinion...

Difficult time for heavy metal/hard rock because of the early nineties grunge-movement, this one from 1994 "Dr. Feelgood" (1989) 2:15 fine section!
