Eastern europeans call these pancakes as well but their "authentic" name are "Crêpes" from french. Their less unhealhty as the "english" pancakes and can be made sweet, salty or blank tasted. The sweet ones are more popular because of the kids, but there are some specialties as the: Hungarian- Hortobágyi palacsinta(pancake); Swab(South Germany)- meat filled pancake Soup; Romanian-Cottage Cheese+dill filled pancakes(it can be made sweet or salty) . in the crepe bars they cook them at a higher tempeture and spread them and they cook alot quicker. If you dont have an expensive crepe maker you can use a normal fryin pan and turn it upside down and use the base as a totally flat cooking surface with no edges. many people dont realize you can use the underside of a cast iron pan to cook on also.
