  • Haha, acts just as violent with his toys as my spectacled.

  • I THINK HE IS BEAUTIFUL THE WAY HE IS! THATS MEAN THE BREEDER DIDN'T WANT HIM B/C OF HIS BEAK AAAAWWWW I'M GLAD HE HAS A WONDERFUL MOM LIKE YOU.THANKS FOR SHARING HE IS ADORABLE!

  • wow finally found another bird with a similar condition to mine but his looks so much better controlled then my amazons (his beak acutall turns to left rather then down) how are you correcting it as local vets wont treat my little fellas and im sure he be better off with a better shaped one (he can still eat and do normal stuff but still be nice for him to have it fixed)

  • How is Owen Wilson's beak now?

  • HE IS A GIRL this is a female amazon to cute baby girl

  • He's adorable!! What happen to his beak? I have 2 White Fronts. Both Males. Brothers. Keebie and Chili

They are 5 now. One talks the other doesn't. Crazy boys too..

  • He looks great! How is his beek doing now???

  • He maintains it himself mostly but I do need to dremel it occasionaly.

  • lol! I love the "weight" lifting ;-D *Ehnnn*

  • Thank you. He is such a charmer. And lots of fun to watch him entertain himself.

  • He is so cute, i love him

  • yeah...that beak thing-it bothers me. not to be mean, im just conserned about the bird.

  • The breeder gave Owen to me due to his scissors beak and due to the fact I am a very experienced groomer and I specalize in reshaping beaks. I like to dremel spreading it over a few months when possible. It's TOO stressful and can cause the bird pain and bleeding if I were to grind it down to how it should look the first time.

  • He's got quite a bad "scissor beak". It shouldn't be twisted like that. An avian vet will be able to trim it and shape it up a bit to make it a little better.

  • Theres something wrong with his beak... I suggest seeing a vet.

  • Really??? I never noticed... Maybe I should change his name to something other than Owen Wilson?

  • Yeah... The top part of his beak is all twisted to the side.

  • Hoo! So that's why you named him like this... huuh, good catch. I get it now. But what is a scissor beak by the way? Would it be bad for the bird's health or is it something that just alters its look. And by what is it caused?

  • scissors is where the upper mandible is not straight and does not meet correctly over the lower mandible. The closest human term woud probably be someone with a cross bite. If the scissors beak is too severe it can prevent the the bird from holding or grasping food. There are several theories as to what causes it - improper artificial incubation, handfeeding teechniques, heredity or if it developes over time, improper nutrition. It is rarely seen in parent raised birds.
