I'm getting about 4 eggs a day out of 10 hens, so about 2 dozen a week.
They are all natural layers for the most part. I keep a supply of local grown feed to supplement them and keep them from getting bored and in my garden. During the Spring and Fall, I get an egg a day from each hen. They rest in the Summer and Winter for the most part. That's when they get wormed also.
I have ten laying hens at the moment and had a hatching with a dozen new chicks this summer.
showing off for the ladies behind him =) haha i have 6 RIR's (three roosters)..they're five months old and not yet crowing...when did your buffs start to crow?
Well the chickens do scratch when they are outside of the pen, food and nest area. They can come and go as they please in over 10 acres of land, except when door is latched at night. If they are not completely wired in for night, they will die from predators. You are a moron.
Wow.. a challenge between crows. and thats somehow supposed to "kick A**"? i guess i'll agree to it. but only if i may use a Long crower which is bred to crow for 30-40 seconds cause theres a competion over in asia and stuff that they have feathersite . com tells you all about em. its a poultry encyclopedia ^^
i wish my name was Buff Orpington

@strawske
I notice my roosters starting to crow around 4 months old. And they sound awful too, like a kid going through a voice change.
Although not the official Kellogs Rooster, that is what he looked like when he joined the farm. Thus his name Kellogs.
