it's a great song, it's writen by a woman or in a point of view of a woman, and it's meant to be sung by woman, it's a great version but i wish she could sing in a way that i could understand what she's
The oldest known existing recording is by Appalachian artists Clarence Ashley and Gwen Foster and was made in 1933. The actual origin and authorship is lost in folk obscurity...
Wow! The video is amazing and the song done by many but none quite like this. I love everything about this video/song combo. They each fit together just perfectly. Thank you for posting this chase...!
Love these girls! This song was originally written by a prostitute. Her name was Jane Goodall and she resided in the sixties in a desolate potion of Nevada. She was often seen sleeping with guerrillas and other sorts of monkey races. This is a beautiful rendition of Ol' Jane's piece.
This was always a woman's song. The original lyrics, I mean. It's sung by a prostitute, not by some guy whose downfall was visiting one, contrary to what the Animals got everyone to believe.
@deenibeeni funny how our society see's the side of the man who ruined HIS life through his desire to visit brothels, but not the side of the poor women who HAD their lives ruined :/ same all through time even in Greek mythology where Medusa was punished for being raped by Poseidon. in John Lennon's words "women is the nigger of the world"
anyone knows the TABS to this!? anyone?! :]

A good, interesting, take on a great old tune. Don't think we'll ever wear that one out, it just keeps getting re-interpreted.

I'm tired of all these yankees and canadians stealing our music from the Southland. This version sucks.

This is the only version I've heard that I really like. But then I like everything the BGTs do. Deeply soulful.
