@wedvarnwhen rounds start flying past your head, its pretty easy to forget where your finger is, loss of fine motor function and all. Not to mention you may slip on rough terrain, etc. Do what you like though, I'm just going off of what the Army and experience has taught me. I'm sure you know better.
@Kaonashi2011 I use the area just past my first joint towards the end of my finger when shooting quickly. When shooting for super accuracy I add more finger.
Kyle, how is the prismatic? Are you T&Eing it or did you like it enough to buy it? I never seen one actually on a gun that wasnt a trade show blue gun.
Though it gives a bit more stable position, wouldn't you be a smaller target if you if you put the other knee up and the outside knee down while kneeling at the barriers?
On another note your book Green eyes Black Rifles is excellent. As a Guardsmen it helps to have something like that to use as a reference when I train on my own.
@scnarb I agree if you were back from the barricade it makes more sense to maximize cover/concealment, but when you are close enough to use the barricade as support, having the outside knee up providesva more stable shooting platform - & I'd rather worry about hitting the bad guy at that point vs. worrying about an inch or 2 of extra exposure. This will also give more room for the man behind you if doing a two man corner clear.
Kyle, my wonderful girlfriend got me your Green eye black rifles book for Christmas this year. Full marks, and thanks for sharing your knowledge with us.
I read about you in Tactical Operator - I'm writing a movie script in which the main character trains in firearms, and these videos are a huge help in terms of what to do / what not to do. Thank you!
@DKtrecour You got me..... I always run with the hood up on the holster. Long day of filming in 100 plus degree weather, I guess I checked my pistol and then didn’t close the hood. I hope you will forgive me.....
Curiosity: I trained to use my outside knee to be down and my inside leg spread out as an outrigger to balance the weight. I can see how with this barricade it would make sense, but would you recommend the same thing for shooting around a regular corner/wall?
@TheMiraclejoe Absolutely. It works well in most situations. It really shines when you are conducting a two man corner clear. It gives your mate a place to stand and move, less chance of getting tangled up.
It is especially important if you plan to be there for awhile ot may need to take longer shots, the improvement in stability is huge.
Great drill. Looks like it covers alot. Shooting a rifle from standing and knelling postions, using cover, firing from baracade left/right shooting on the move.
@VikingTactics Thanks for the reply. I will give this drill a try the next time I am at the range. I am signed up for your carbine 1.5 class in New Hampshire next year. I am really looking forward to the training.
Your finger is your saftey. Im not about to put the saftey on moving from cover in a firefight.

@wedvarn good luck with that. Hopefully your negligent discharge doesn't hit your buddy.

SGM, when you are pulling the trigger that fast, are you using the tip of your shooting finger or the crease of your first knuckle?

@CENTCOMSurvivor Targets should be just far enough apart that you can see them from the side of the barricade, normally about 4 yards apart.

Kyle do you advocate bent arms with the pistol? Jason Falla does that and Magpul guys suggest fully extended arms with the handgun.

@rotorleopard I bend my arms a little, just enough that they can be used as shock absorbers and not have recoil come back into your shoulders.
