Go Mr. Marriott - great vocals, great song, great performance, great rhythm, great band. Rock at it's finest fused with a true musician's soul. Much missed and much needed in today's throwaway songs that masquerade as 'real' music. R.I.P. Steve and Ronnie.
I love this song- my favorite by Marriott. I wore the vinyl album out in my teen years! Brilliant.....Geeze, he had a LOT of energy! No big surprise he went on to front Humble Pie....Pity he died so young, but at least we've still got clips like this!
I always say this but to me NO ONE will EVER top Marriott as a consumate rock musician! 20 yrs ago today he passed, way too soon. Marriott could play any style & sing any style & had a natural raw crazy grace & charm like none else.Even at the end when the suits & hanger's on helped destroy him Marriott NEVER COMPRISED his music or spirit. He lived breathed & died for his music - at his detrement. Disrespected, lied to & stepped on he never lost his love for the music & I will ALWAYS miss him!
I've just watched the new dvd that came out and it's excellent, loads of interviewss and great footage. Probably the best front man ever. This is my favourite Small Faces (and Maclagan's too) song.
Hi Idesaes, it's called "All or nothing" and is part of a "British invasion set" which also has dvds of Dusty Springfield, Hermans Hermits and Gerry and the Pacemakers. I got mine in HMV and it's available on Amazon etc.
Im on a quest to recognise Steve Marriott as the greatest ROCK musician ever case closed! A real diamond in the rough they broke the mold with him. Weller only wishes. Plant, Hendrix & all those who copied & swiped from him do too. Davies rules the pop songwriting world but Marriott just rules!, He really was it - a natural one off & I miss him . btw am now taking donations for airfare to hop the pond for the SF Con in London in Sept , ha! Sure I see that happening! I'm only dreaming! sigh
@mrmarriottsgirl i am SO WITH you on that!!! Its a shame we dont hear his name mentioned anymore - stupid fricken people have forgotten him! i like your name by the way, do you dream of him too?LOL im only jokin'
@mrmarriottsgirl I second that!!! Steve Marriott was a true original and was inventing things that we all take for granted now. He let it all out on stage and had no fear. A true artist. RIP.
@mrmarriottsgirl Steve had no self-consciousness on stage because that was where he BELONGED!! Very few artists have ever been so at home in their element. Marriott was doing what the Good Lord put him here to do. That is why he is so natural. That is why his honesty comes through in waves...because it is REAL! I hope your quest is going well and I will see you around these parts again.
@steviea427 Marriott & Rory Gallagher are the greatest ROCK/BLUES musicians to me period. .Just my opinion, both were so amazingly talented & had such raw crazy grace onstage. Where did these kind of musicians go? And Ray Davies too, a brilliant pop songwriter as well. I miss the spirit & crazy grace & raw energy of Marriott et all.Quest grows stronger everyday HA -but lot's of people recognize him now that didn't before . NICE!
Wow! This is the best video of this song. Thank you for posting! I'm coming to Europe in September, wish he was still alive, I would give just about anything to see him. Love love love the Small Faces.
Glad you like it. I think t's the best song probably ever I heard. I still have my original 45 record of this which I bought in 1967 when I was at school (on the white "immediate" label - mono of course). Bye the way, I did reply to you earlier comments - not sure if you saw them. All the best, KeefieUK.

What a band, what a song - Marriott's pipes were superb in those days and Ronnie Lane looks lmpossibly young and handsome even - makes me feel old.
