  • is good,very sad yet strangely beautiful,cool...

  • R.I.P Knock-Nevis

  • Almost a kilometer long. God this ship was immense. It was very beautiful too.

  • @jesusegs95 it's not even half a kilometer long......

  • Will miss that ship...weird how we develop feelings for a piece of machinery. They say you tend to feel the ship is alive when you are on her.

I can't help but wonder if any of her crews got that attached to her? Would love to talk with someone who had the honor of serving on her...

    RIP Nevis!

  • beautiful ship can not belive it has been scraped

  • beautiful ship can not belive its been scraped

  • Norwegian companies has built and/or operated and/or owned the biggest ships in three different classes;

Biggest Ship Total: Jahre Viking/Seawise Giant/ Happy Giant/ Knock Nevis Owner: several

Biggest Bulk Cargo Ship: Berge Stahl Operator: BWG

Biggest Cruise Ship: Oasis Class operator: royal Caribbean International

  • She has nipples.

  • for the life of me,I can't understand why they would keep re-naming it,reguardless if others bought the ship.Doesn't make sense....Shes the Seawise Giant, right?

  • @Wayneman117, it's pretty common to rename the ship when the owner changes. Not a big deal.

  • @tupsumato -still doesn't make sense really,we're not talking about giving someone a pet they once owned.

  • @Wayneman117, quite many shipping companies have some naming scheme after which they name their ships. Sometimes the company's name, such as MSC, is included in the name. Isn't it obvious that if the ship is sold, the new owner wants to rename the ship according to his naming scheme?

We're talking about machines that are referred to with names since it's easier than using cryptic acronyms and numbers, although it also happens with some companies. Nothing wrong in changing the name.

  • R.I.P. Knock Nevis She will be missed.

  • @Tomislav666

  • Damn she was sunk in the Iraq-Iran war and then unsubmerged and fixed.

  • I wonder if the ship will be view-able on google earth. Recent views of the Alang breakyard show some massive ships, none longer than 250 meters. Does somebody know how often google earth 'refresh' its maps? I guess that will be different for all parts of the world....

  • She's the Great Eastern of our times. :-(

  • she was a big ship.

  • This vessel is arriving at Alang Ship Breaking Yard (India) for demolition....

  • I was reading somewhere that it is being used for permanent floating storage?

  • my chief Engineer was a cadet at this ship

  • wtf, i didnt get this.. "knock nevis largest ship ever" almost only pictures of jahre viking? is it the same type? is there 2 of a kind, or is it named both, help me! dont see why you would put so many pictures of jahre viking when the title of this video is knock nevis..

  • The Jahre Viking and Knock Nevis are one and the same ship.

When it left the shipyard in 1979 it was called the Seawise Giant, in 1989 the name was changed to the Happy Giant and in 1991 its name was changed to Jahre Viking. In 2004 the ship was turned into a static, permanantly moored storage tanker and was renamed Knock Nevis.
