  • Is this the night in Sydney when Arcade Fire met her up and they went to a karaokebar and sang Creedence Clearwater Revival-songs? (according to interview in Uncut)

  • I love how she screws her mouth up to get those words out in that beautifully poetic way. The lady is truly one of a kind, a bespoke angel, never meant for mass-production :).

  • LIKE IT BUT DAMN! HOLD IT STEADY NEXT TIME!

  • i loveher. pretty dodgy filming though... :D

  • camera my man camera!

  • This show was on her birthday

  • yes easy def.

  • It's my favourite... Veeery Katebush!

  • I like how she decided to change it up & play the piano instead of the harp for his song. This song is amazing none the less. Thanks for posting!

  • Love the song, the Video totally sucks though!

  • The only other artist I can successfully compare her to is Picasso. She knows, really knows, what she's doing. She takes the accepted sounds in music and systematically tears them down, just as the painter did with portraiture.

  • You miss the point. She does with music what he did with painting. Taking accepted forms and intentionally twisting them. I'm comparing their methods, not their accomplishments or skill, and I think that's clear in my first comment.

  • agreed.

  • wah wah bad comparison. all visual artists change and rebel against closed concepts... expand your mind and don't only idolize the famous.

  • i wouldn't say 'all' artists change and rebel against the current trends... only the good ones ;) some are content to stick with what is safe and accepted, but they're the ones that are forgotten as time passes.

  • It was clear. For some reason, people just like to argue on YouTube. Ha. It's becoming a hobby. A ridiculous and embarrassing one.

  • @Balathustrius86 beauitfully said <333

  • that violin / viola player behind joanna is INTO IT. then again, who wouldn't be. <3

  • holy smokes. this lady is a genius. unique. art! yes!

  • been playing this and '81 back to back for an hour. thanks!

  • Me too!

  • saw her in Melbourne, this song is really nice

  • can't stop watching.

  • This is gorgeous! I think Joanna is such a unique talent that it's hard to compare her to anyone, but I do hear a bit of Randy Newman in there. Looks like she spots the camera a couple times.

  • She has said Randy Newman's song, "I Think It's Gonna Rain Today", is one of her favorite pop songs of all time.

  • Jesus this is beautiful...i didn't think this new record would have such a seismic effect on me as 'Ys' did. Think I may have been wrong.

  • Agreed. After the epicness YS I was worried she could never do something of that magnitude again. But judging by this and 81 what her loyal legion of fans is going to get will be something beyond comprehension.

  • One more thing I wanted to write about this song: this is very much Dresden Dolls-like, which is a good thing.

Joanna on the piano rocks. Really.

  • I second the Dresden Dolls comment, hell yes!

  • Really! I am going to have to search out their stuff then. Thankyou!

  • @daniglue got nothing to do with dresden dolls. If you felt it that way, maybe you should broaden you musical horizons....

  • @jaylan143

this is what I've written the first time I watched this video on YouTube, when the studio version was not released yet and when I didn't "get" the song yet.

The studio version is a different thing.

Everybody needs to broaden its own musical horizons.

I own 800+ CD (not mp3, but cd) and I'll keep listening to different music.

Thankd for the advice, but it wasn't necessary.

And, by the way, Dresden Dolls are not too far from this.

    Two words: Anachro-Pop

  • @daniglue your ears are defective

  • @daniglue I Dont see the comparison. This is way better.

  • @onegcds

good. You won 4 golden coins.

    Enjoy.

  • @daniglue urgh how can you compare them?

  • @Uktrayf

I didn't say Joanna Newsom and the Dresden Dolls are the same thing.

I simply wrote that this song reminds me of the Dresden Dolls, and this is what I said after I watched this video for the very first time (the album wasn't even out back then).

However, I still think this song is not too far from the Dresden Dolls' style.

    Drums+Piano: just that.

  • Awesome. I just know the album version is going to be something special.

  • "I was born to love--and I intend to love you"....

"I am easy, easy to keep.. Honey you please me, even in your sleep.."

"Hear the frog goin' courting till the day that he croaks..."

    <3

  • cannot wait for this album. cannot wait 2 months to see her in concert. was this the extent of what she performed? will esame and baby birch be on this album?

  • Umm no idea! Sorry. There is a set list somewhere online but the concert right before in Brisbane it was a different set list...so maybe she mixes it up a lot.

  • 'Easy' it is ;)

  • another great song. This is very immediate, while I'll need to listen to the other new ones some more times before to appreciate them completely.

I can easily say YS was the most complicated album I've ever listened and appreciated-later in my life.

First time I've listened to that, I thought it sucks.

Now it's just my favourite album of the last 10 years.

  • @daniglue - totally agree

  • Thanks guys I updated it :)

  • this is "Easy" :3

  • Beautiful song, thank you so much for uploading this! I've heard that the title of this one is 'Easy'.
