at 1:00min he talks about rifling for accuracy. Clearly he doesn't know what he's talking about. Rifling only works with rounds that have a low length to diameter ratio. To pierce thicker armor you need higher velocty shells. Modern Kinetic Energy penetrators are much longer compared to their diameter, and therefore rifling doesn't work. So smooth bore guns use other techniques such as fin-stabilisation with discarding sabots. for these you need a smooth-bore gun. this rifling si just old tech.

Americans can't say anything bout the Challengers gun seeing as they use a German gun. The gun on the challenger 1 has the longest range tank kill and the challenger 2 has shown during the gulf that it can kill a modern tank (albeit our own). The abrams has a huge heat signature making it vulnerable to guided missiles. Plus, the challenger is prettier.

American Smoothbore barrels are actually german designed and made and before that they used the 120mm rifled barrel from Britains royal ordinance factory. Challangers will soon be fitted with smooth bores to be compatable with nato specification ammunition. Still though the 120mm royal ordinance gun was used by almost every modern MTB in the world and was copied by the chinese and russians.
