I remember about Sound of Music being made as a movie. The real Von Trapp Family singers and Maria, the real one, still living at the time, said"Hey, that's not how it really happened" and she was told...Lady, this is Hollywood! We make our own stories...So, I'm glad they did this version! I get to gorge myself on Emmy & Gerry in one of the most sensuous Dawning of Love scenes ever! This part is my favorite in the whole movie/musical. So romantic, simple, and the feeling is real. It's such a beautiful piece.

I could listen to Gerard's voice/this song all day and never get tired. I get goosebumps whenever I hear this.

@leeonmars Right. In the book, his skin was yellow, he had droopy eyes, very little hair, no nose, and was just terrible looking. In the movie, they made it as if he was not ugly.

I agree "33winterbirds"...Michael Crawford easily sings and acts the Phantom role a million times better then Butler. Michaels voice is so heavenly and MC was such a sexy, sensual and mysterious Phantom as well as an award winner for this role. Plus Michaels body language and amazing hands were so mesmerizing. Butlers an okay actor but Michael gives me orgasms when I watch him as the Phantom. I do like Butler in some other roles though.

Excellent performance, since this is the first time he did this type of music. I saw and interview with ALW. Gerard "Gerry" Butler had a bit of roughness he had always wanted in this part. I think Gerry Butler nailed it!!

I have the original soundtrack with Michael Crawford. I also saw the show with John Kudiak, I believe that was his name, and Gerard Butler's voice cannot compare. He played the part to perfection and he's gourgeous to look at, but his voice should have been dubbed. Sorry.... They did it with Minnie Driver and it didn't take anything away from the film.

The brilliant use of minutely flat notes puts personality into the Phantom character. Gerard provides such emotion. He was the true star of this musical.
