um no just no i don't like this music it sucks! i like this cartoon version of the ghost busters the" real ghost busters"its alot better than the other 1. the other 1 is too silly and just doesn't catch the concept of ghostbusters. seriously? a bubble gum gun? no just no its terrible
Actually the Filmation one was the REAL real Ghostbusters. You just got brainwashed by the fakes using the word "Real" in the title. The first Ghostbusters was actually a live action show for kids and they had the same characters as the Filmation Ghostbusters, including the gorilla. Later the movie ripped off Filmation, so Filmation sued Columbia and got a court settlement in their favor. Filmation's version of the cartoon first aired 5 days before Real Ghostbusters first aired.
@Ikoris its a little to late to bitch now buddy, besides the two ghostbusters franchises have never truly been at odds with each other. I think these court battles you speak of are untrue.
They arent fake its just a different show with different character using the same name, concepts and names are not owned.
Its two different takes on a similar concept, they share the same name only because the name isnt really as important as the stories and characters
the filmation one is actually based on the black white saturday morning cartoon series of the late 60s. When the big budget Ghostbusters movie came out there was a lawsuit between the various people that had created the Ghostbusters movies and the other people which was eventually settled.
Nice. I like how the organ music kicks in right when all the monsters come out, which has an even better effect than when synced to its original animation.
the filmation's ghostbusters used to come on b 4 the real ghostbusters both were great but hardly n e 1 remembers filmations version they als had a live action movie
HOW DARE YOU PUT THE INTRO MUSIC OF THAT CRAP GHOST BUSTERS OVER THE REAL GHOSTBUSTERS INTRO. You should be sucked down into the 10th level of hell for this!
Actually Filmation created Ghostbusters before Columbia back in 1975 with a live-action TV show. They sued Columbia in 1985 for the rights of the name and wanted a hand in making the preposed GB cartoon but DiC was chosen so the two companies made an agreement to base each toon on each other's property of GB.
The only reason the music (w/ inherent sound effects) and this RGB intro work is quite obvious: Cartoon intros are generally supposed to be a minute in length. Both are a minute long, respectively.
It goes pretty good together. The only funny part is when they shoot their nuclear accelerators you hear a wolf. Sounds like the wolf sound is the nuclear accelerator.
Wow, amazing how well those synched, yeah. It makes me wonder if, at about a minute in length, there was a general timing formula applied to kids' cartoon openings; like, "title screen at .05, hero reveal at .10," etc. I'd be curious what other minute-long show openings from this era would synch up.
Um... Filmation Ghostbusters was a bad show and I've watched way, way too much of it now. It's mesmerizing in its badness.
It's wild how well the other theme fits here. :53 is perfect. I enjoyed both toons as a kid and had both sets of toys. RGB was obviously far superior, and like every kid with glasses, I wanted to be Egon, but there was definitely room in my childhood world for two sets of ghostbusters.
The art direction and animation of this intro is much better and more timeless than the Filmation version. The Filmation animation style is very stiff and undynamic.
The Japanese just produce better looking TV animation, what else can I say?
Dude, I can compile the best looking TV anime and you can compile the best looking American TV animation and guess which compilation will blow people away. It's not gonna be Hanna Barbera and Filmation, I can guarantee that.
The Japanese are FAR better at producing action and drama animation. All the best animated intros of the 80s are from TMS and other anime studios, examples: Thundercats, Mighty Orbots, TMNT, Galaxy Rangers, Robotech, G.I. Joe, MASK, Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors, etc.
This cartoon kicked soo much ass :D. Looking back on it brings back some great memories. Thanks for posting this. I just wish i could find the series on DVD :(.
Absolutely. RGB had a surprisingly intelligent level of storytelling for an '80s animated series. The Citizen Kane episode and the one detailing Egon's past with the Boogeyman (their version of him was one of the most terrifying things ever! GOD, I can still hear that voice!) were just two great examples.
i completely agree with you, these cartoons, especially the first couple of seasons, were fantastic...one of my favs was the sandman episode, another creepy voice "why aren't you sleeping?"
when I watch these mixed intro clips, I sometime mute the sound, and hear the theme of POWER RANGERS along with it. I wonder what it'd be like if THAT mixture would be possible?
In all fairness, the theme was the only thing I liked about the Filmation Ghostbusters...couldn't stand to watch a second of it...Real Ghostbusters all the way!

the sound effects line up almost perfectly, when each individual ghostbuster takes out there particle ray THERE IS A BEAT OF THE DRUM
then it boings (stupid boing effect) exactly when the scene transition panel flips
NO,this is either done Intentionally, or this is proof of a god that loves ghostbusters
