I changed from a gag to a peewee a few months back and my chap seems much happier. I was concerned at first because the mouthpiece is so thin - it looks severe but I don't think it is. Well done - what a brilliant first show!

its weird about the whole bit thing, personally my horse has gone almost two years with a bit collecting nice and all of the sudden he is so nervous chomping, but as soon as i use a bitless bridle all of his tension is gone :D

she just turned five but due to an injury while turned out in a muddy paddock she is on stall rest for two weeks and will start training in a min of a month so i will have to miss the first part of show season on her :(

same here! my mare would collect very well in a HALTER but not in her bridle!! since shes off the track she has pretty much a rock for a mouth (from being pulled so much) so we decided (my trainer and i) to get her to collect from nose pressure like a halter would do so with a standing martingale and a new bit she does it great. she has learned a lot and i am hoping to show her in hunters soon.

had conformation flaws in her neck being small and she looks a lot better now. It will help with jumping form too. Yall look great and please consider this knowing that i do not seem to sound rude or mean. I hope to be as good of a trainer as u one day :)

Hey!

Yes, I am very much aware of his neck/butt lol ;)

He wasn't collecting on show day, but I wasn't too fussed because it was his first show & he was distracted.

He's still a tad underweight, so I suppose that's not helping, getting him moved to a private paddock this month so I can fatten him up.

He collects beautifully in a bitless bridle, but in a snaffle he just says NO. He just hates bits.. I haven't been able to find any that he likes yet. His teeth are being done again on

Saturday, so hopefully there was an underlying problem with his teeth that can be fixed, so it can help him to accept the bit and drop his head.

I'll get a video of his dressage today in a bitless & in a bridle. There's a major difference in his collection, rhythm & flexion.

If only they'd allow horses to go bitless in competitions :( All our problems would be fixed.

looks great. your videos are very inspirational. it show how good of a horsewomen you are to know and see all that you have accomplished with him. I do want to give you one tip, and dont take it personal, but he needs to learn how to collect more. even if you are not showing in hunters, his whole performance will come together nicely if he learns to collect. That will also build muscle on his but and neck which are both kinda small. my mare...
