Anyone who thinks triggers are "cheating" do not know what the fuck they're talking about. It's only cheating when you use them in the studio, even then, if you're using ONLY the sampled sound for your drums. Most drummers tend to go for a 50/50 thing for a tighter sound, but if you go 100% trigger in the studio, that shit is easy to quantize(ie cheating). With that said though, it's got nothing to do with your ability to play. It ISN'T cheating, just a sampled sound that triggers when you play.
claiming that triggers make you "cheat" is completely ridiculous. however, the concept of lightly taping the bass drum and the trigger picking it up is true, but a real drummer would never take advantage of that. just because you use triggers does not make you a dishonest drummer, it's just a preference. those who take advantage of the concept are scum of the earth and do not deserve to be recognized as drummers. i personally have never used triggers only because i prefer an old school sound
peoples thing about triggers make you cheat is retarded..lol they say people thAt barley tap the bass drum head get the weak strokes, and triggers pick them up. i would say that would be cheating yourself. but not cheating the speed. cAuse tech your feet are tapping at that pace. any way, when you Watch more drummers like Daniel, he gets good strokes. as well as many drummers up there. derrek roddy, george kollias gene hoglan. but yeah... triggers arnt cheating.
Triggers make your bass drums one volume no matter how hard your strokes are. Its something most modern metal drummers use. People who don't know anything about them assume that triggers make you faster (I honestly don't know where this assumption comes from.) Say if your right foot is heavier than your left, triggers can even the volume and make the strokes sound cleaner. Some drummers also use them to create a certain sound or effect. You know that "click" you get with metal drummers. Triggers
ah i see, if you have ever watched dave mcclain from machine head play drums, when you watch his feet move his feet are moving at half the speed, its pretty odd to watch thats when you see his triggers, rading what you've said has answered alot of questions, chears man.
he's done some instruction videos for drum magazines that have free DVD's with them, and in one of them he was explaining his foot technique for double strokes, it's like a bizaare mix of flatfoot and heeltoe :|
confusing eh?
feel free to check out some of my vids, i've got my triggers hooked up in one or two of them
Daniel does this thing where his triggered sound in in his kick drum mix about 45% and his bass drum traditional mics pick up the rest...that way he gets the great tightness and attack with triggers for the fast double bass stuff and the rich bottom end of mixes...to me his drum sound is one of the best!!!
Was this before the dvd?

Triggers give a tighten sound at faster double bass speeds and in my opinion a trigger kit sounds better than a miced up kit

i like that he doesn't try to hide his kick triggers...
ElGrapadora 2 years ago
hha, why should he?
blindedbydarkness 2 years ago
a lot of drummers do, because of all of the stupid people that thing that triggers are "cheating"...
ElGrapadora 2 years ago
ah, yes. That's a sad thing...
blindedbydarkness 2 years ago
@blindedbydarkness its only cheating if they start trigger tapping. if they trigger for an even sound and dont tap then i get that
SaludaUser 1 year ago
@ElGrapadora
almost extreme or metal drummer using trigger from abroad.
almost japanese drummer think that trigger is cheat.
but, sometimes need to compromise for band sound.

@ElGrapadora
play fast double bass drumming without kick trigger if you can.

that's coz he plays double strokes on his kicks going:
R-R-L-L-R-R-L-L
although the triggers do help to pick up the rebounded second stroke
Scotty515 2 years ago
really? how do you know that? i'm really intrigued about all these trigger things. lol

ah, yeah...;) He's pretty awesome too. How 'bout Inferno?
blindedbydarkness 4 years ago
Sorry, but I just know the ucraine gothic band and I think they aren´t very good.
masterofdisaharmony 4 years ago
Gothic? Ucraine? Behemoth is death/black metal from Poland: )
blindedbydarkness 4 years ago
Ah you mean Behemoth... The drummer of Behemoth... You´re right they are brutal and cool too. I thought you´d mean the band Inferno... Sorry.
What do you think about Martin Lopez?
masterofdisaharmony 4 years ago
Ah, haha ok. Never heard of Inferno the band. Martin Lopez is great, really interesting drummer
blindedbydarkness 4 years ago
MArtin allway looked so brutal and bad and I liked that. But now he´s away :(
masterofdisaharmony 4 years ago
yes, sadly...
blindedbydarkness 4 years ago
I allways hope that he´ll return:(
What do you think about Mike Portnoy?
masterofdisaharmony 4 years ago
I think inferno is overrated. Fits behemoth though and Behemoth is epic and brootal.
metalhed110 3 years ago 3
inferno overrated?
most certainly not
at least not in the technical sense
PsychoFlunky 3 years ago 3
Inferno's technicality is like rape. He can do 16ths at 270 bpm, which is like asking a hermit crab to lick itself.
kultmonkey 3 years ago
I 2nd that! Saw them live with Dimmu. Inferno and Flo Mounier of Cryptopsy have to be my drumming idols.

Tim yeung is a beast!

Overrated? That's just silly. The guy is a fucking beast, he's possibly the best drummer in death metal, right up there with Roddy and Kollias.
