!! Very cool!! I would judge from by the wing-span of that swallowtail in comparison to the width of the wildflower [60-70cm] that it was the newly acknowledged [in 2002] species Pterourus appalachiensis found mostly in the Appalachian Mountains. If I'm wrong, than it's probably the Pterourus glaucus, a smaller species that looks very much the same. What a catch! Thanks for sharing!
@00icwhit LOVE this comment! Yes, upon closer inspection of the freeze frame, it looks to be the Pterourus glaucus because of the predominance of the blue on the bottom. Well done!! Thx so much for your analysis and evaluation. :)
@MrJimbofox Hiya Jimbo. Yah, that is with my Sanyo CG20. The flowers were so spectacular in July I missed a beautiful opportunity to do it then. (As you can see, the flowers are on their way out for the season). Will def be lining it up next summer and getting more excellent footage.
@DavZZee You know, Dave, I was tempted to take this vid in a different direction. That hovering bug in the beginning was checking that other one out and kept coming back, stalking, and trying to mate. I could have done 4 minutes on them alone! She ended up not being interested, as you saw. Or, maybe she wasn't a she. Dunno. lol
@troy5690 Yah, I'll bet you miss bugs, Troy! lol We have had such a HOT, humid summer the bugs are nuts. Hope your summer isn't going to be as bad. :(
Roz, your right a little different, but very cool. Amazing how the interaction between different things makes the world go around, one part drops out and the whole thing goes Ka-Boom and a mess, a very fine balance. Thanks, take care and have a great day my friend.
@Hiluxtaco Good point! You know, it the darn air conditioner unit was blaring away I'll bet the audio would have been just as cool. I'm going to turn the A/C off next time and see what we get...
