@tysken94 with these slip knots it can be adjusted easier, like you can set your line deep under your bobber and the knot will just go through your guides with ease, whether reeling in or casting, doesn't even feel like its there, also it doesnt damage your line like other stoppers can. use a smalled holed bead between the bobber and the knot though
@BJOlson I use 30lb fly line backing. It's a bit thicker than the Dubro slip bobber thread and grips the fishing line really well. I got bright yellow. It's perfect. Can buy at any fly fishing shop. One spool lasts a long time.
@BJOlson it has to be thick enough for the knot to do its job or stopping the bobber, so the knot wont slip thru the bead and bobber rendering it useless, id imagine you could find adequate line at a fly fishing section, or use 30lb+ braided line like spiderwire
@HATINTHEKAT i have found this cheap monofilament at fleet farm i use it for all purpose lure making its anywhere from i think 5lb to 50lb and its only $2 of course the smaller lb u get the more of it there is because it goes by weight its shakespeare somthing or other and its normally about 175 yards for 25lb but what i was meaning to say was meaning to say is braid is expensive$!
u should just carry all of them on one straw so when u need the u can just pole out the straw an have 14 slip knots instead of a bib mess of them just laying there in ur tackle box/bag
@dookiekong007 u use slip bobbers u slide the tube of the slip not on ur line then slide just the string off the tube on to ur line and pull both ends to tighten it up and it stops your slip bobber
I have tried various types of line. Here's what I found. Embroidery thread, $0.20 per yard, comes apart too easily when slipping the line under the back of the knot. Dacron line, $0.15 per yard, same as embroidery thread. Fly line backing, 20 lb test $0.08 per yard (Sportsman Outdoors), works fantastic. Fly line backing cuts leaving a clean sharp tip. Slides easily under line on the back side of the knot. Pulls nice and tight on the straw and on your fishing line. Thanks Apex, keep em' coming!
Your video was easy to understand, easy to see what you are doing and thorough with what I need. I have been saving straws from our take out drinks but recently discovered something really great. My kids love drink boxes. The straws that come with them work fantastic for slip bobber ties. The ones with "Capri Sun" work best as they are a little smaller diameter and there is no bend in the straw. I can easily get eight knots per straw. Thank you for such a quality "free" video.
sorry folks, I have been trying to get back into the old account, but have finally given up and simply created a new one...
The line actually came with the expensive tool I showed at the beginning of the video. They come in different colors and are usually most abondant during the Ice fishing season here. I got it at Fleet Farm. I have heard that any type of line will work, it only needs to be thick enough so the bead doesn't slide over it. For more instr check out: How to rig a slip bobber
@captmicha Slide the bobber stop (the tube with the string on it) on your line as far up as you want the bobber to go. Slide the string off the tube (towards the rod end of the line) and pull it tight on your fishing line. Then just take the tube off and discard it. Then you can rig your bobber and it will not slide up past the stop knot.
thanks! awesome video!!!

thats just a nail knot, you use those in fly fishing to attach the leader to the fly line, you can buy a tool to ties those for a few bucks
