i used to respect him, but he is completely full of shit on the issue of nuclear power, he's repeating myths and lies perpetuated by the environmentalist movement that can be disproven by a simple reading of the science and economics behind it
You are a fool if you think Obama is going to be any different. Not heard Obama say that he is going to stop supporting dictators, or that he is going to stop the sale of arms from american companies. I have also not heard him say that he is going to stop terrorising innocent people in foreign countries and carrying out illegal wars. Until you here a president saying the things above you know that it will be business as usual.
Chomsky is very fond of saying that in the United States, we simply have two factions of the business party. However, it is important to note that there is a difference (albeit ever so slight on foreign policy) between the parties.
But, to refer to Mr. Benn, if we stay uninvolved in the political process, in light of the fact that only business interests are seriously represented in government, we will have only ourselves to blame.
Didn't Clinton's remark completely vindicate Chomsky, though? The America government have always treated neighbouring countries as if they had a God-given right to their resources. Take Cuba, Che travelled thousands of miles to rid Cuba of American stooges, who were backed by... the Republicans and Democrats. People like Clinton bully nations into doing what is best for America, as opposed to what's best for their own people.
Also, I'm a big follower of Tony Benn. My personal beliefs are predominantly modelled on him. I'm certainly not advocating total abandonment of the political process. What people have to remember is there are more than two parties in the US. The current electoral system is deeply flawed, in that it always favours the two, pro-business parties, and automatically rigs the election in their favour. There has to be complete overhaul of the American electoral system for there to be true democracy.
chemicals alone WILL NOT MAKE NUCLEAR WEAPONS!!! are people fucking idiots. if you wanted to make a nuke you need to enrich the uranium 238 to 95% pure uranium 235 in order to get a super critical mass. you need machines to do this.iran could have all the uranium in the world, they need the proper equipment to even have a chance to make a weapon, also chernobyl wasn't safe because of human error and a different design from the united states reactor.
America became the worlds superpower because the USSR fell apart,THEN because the US decided to make itself world LEADER,with a conquest on everything important from oil to space(yes if you study you'll see that space is off limits to anyone as soon as it treats US policy/economy) people started to vomit, about the fact how a country with 40% illiteracy, and hijacked by corporate interest, had the guts to tell others what to do.

illiteracy? TEA TIME! fucking queer ass UK sucks my ass. Oh yeah and at least we don't need an entire continent to hold our shit together. EU haha i would be ashamed if i where you.
Its funny you talk about the EU. Sounds like you have not heard about NAFTA and the northamerican union. The global eleite are taking over and we all as a people need to wake up!
it's actually a 20-25% illiteracy rate, give or take. Which is the approval rating of Bush, by the way. I have to admit, the Republicans were sneaky with their plans. Keep the populace stupid, implement bread and circuses, enable executive 'privileges', bifurcate the country with fear-mongering demagogues, and a faith based war on science. Fucking incredible. Any American who supports this, if I might borrow their rhetoric, is a 'traitor' to their country. Democracy must return!!!
British created the all the problems we see today in the world. Americans inherited these problems when they became the worlds only super power. And democracy now is like the nazi TV.
Not quite true....if we take a sober look at US foreign policy since WW1 all they have done is take over the role of the UK and make things considerably worse.
At last a politician who is prepared to admit he made a mistake! Oh, Tony why did you never become PM you had my vote then and you would still have it now! Love Yer..The Red countessa

That's right, and the people of Northern Ireland had made it very clear that they did not want to be separated from the UK. But Anthony Wedgewood Benn knows better... for him, only he and his leftists can ever speak for the Northern Irish.
Benn was not a na pologist for terrosim. Thta was just manipaultive lies from thr giht wing. Thatcher was allowed to have peace talks, with IRA, but the left were not. Manipulative.
Nonsense. Benn called for Britain to cede Northern Ireland after he left government; if that is "supporting" the IRA, then you are making no distinction between Sinn Fein and SDLP voters, which is daft.
There were reasons for the violence in northern ireland. Nationalists had many legit grievances. People don't tend to take up arms in the absence thereof. Except that is, regarding those who wish to protect privilige. How was the most recent incarnation of republican struggle fomented?- due to the denigration of the civil rights movement and RUC collusion therein protecting privilige. I do believe the British Army was actually welcomed into Derry and elsewhere in 1969 by nationalists!
Its true, they were. Look I'm a Catholic from near Derry. It was percieved that the British Army would be less brutal, biased and bigoted than the Protestant 'security' apparatus. The perception didn't last long. Combine this with the inability or unwillingness of the old Official IRA to protect Catholics from the angry hun sensing his privilige dribbing away.
It was welcomed in by old ladies who were sick of the fighting and old men who didn't want their sons killed. No one of my generation welcomed them in. I'm not denying that some welcomed them (i.e., my nana brought them tea when they frist arrived...clearly I was angry with that). There was only a brief period of welcoming even among my parents and such, for it immediately ended.
The video clip is very good and Tony Benn was a very good MP when he was my MP when I lived in Chesterfield, Derbyshire,England. The person, Cheney shown is better known for the 9/11 cover-up of the prior warning of the 5th September 2001.
Probably the most mislead man in Britain. However, he is honest in his beliefs, a reason why he will always be liked.

Well, maybe.
Be very wary of Benn and the megaphone masturbators that follow him round.
I have seen him in action over the Northern Ireland issue, and it was emetic from start to finish.
People were being slaughtered... Englishmen among them.... and Benn was supporting the apologists for it.
Beware.
