Beautiful Golden. You must have adopted her. I'm on my third now. I rescued him from the pound 4 yrs ago at age 2. My first made it to 12 and I still miss her. They are such wonderful dogs with a tremendous capacity for love. I'm sorry for your loss.

Golden retrievers vary a great deal in appearance and always have. They show the variation that once existed in the old wavy-coated/flat-coated breed, which was generally a cross between the St. Johns Water Dog (similar to a Lab, but it could have long hair) and some kind of setter. The wavy-coat/flat-coat was the most common type of retriever in Britain and North America, until the lab became popular.
