  • Irelands got talent.

  • thank you.

  • well done boyo, sang it very well and yur very gud at de guitar, and i agree its no way sectarian.

  • i wouldnt give up my day job mate !!

  • OK on your advice I will keep my daytime job and continue singing for money at weekends.lol. I must admit I dont like this version much, the other cersion I do is a wee bit better but still not as good as it should be. And thanks for the comment on the little black flea, lol

  • Not all rangers fans say this but quite a few friends that are rangers fans seem to think it is because celtic fans sing it and also I have sang this in pubs a lot and quite often rangers fans will tell me I am singing a sectarian song.I am not antirangers by the way, I am just anti bigot. I hate both sides of bigots but I love both sides of the footy side.

So please dont think i am picking on all rangers fans over this I am just saying what I have experienced and what I have personally said.

  • It may only be a tiny amount of fans but they have said it and they were rangers fans.

It can be made sectarian when the bigots on the celtic side shout certain things through the song and spoil it.

    cheers

  • n hears me thinkin I was the only one that played too fast too make up for my lack of talent!!!

    Well done great version

    ....a bear

  • Nae bad version! It is not an easy song to sing. You are so right, it is not a sectarian song at all. It happened - it is part of history.

    Keep on singing.

  • gets a lot better last minute or so mate

  • I know. I was originally planning to do a punked up version but i knew it was shit half way through so i changed back to the way it shold be sung. I should really do it again and dothe song justice. Thanks for your comment, ye've made my mind up.

  • by the way I liked your British Soldier video

  • well kiddie,

like i said ye are easy to tell,

    still laughing at son.

  • you should learn to sing you fukin mug

  • i totally agree with you. I have no idea why or how i manage to make about £25000 a year through singing, everyone must be deaf.

Also, it is amazing the number of people that is commenting on this when it is clear they do not like the song and more than likely just because celtic fans decided to adopt it. As I have told a few others, grow up ye bigot. I am resuming you are a rangers fan and a bigot. so easy to tell. have a nice life if you can. you really need to get a life.

  • yer right. I should do the sash to. its a great wee tune.

and i look like i am doing a shite because after I got dwon with yer mum she was so sour she left me looking like this.

  • not a sectarian song, but it is sung with sectarian intent, the rangers are as bad with thier bullshit too. both sets of old firm are boring as fuck and from the outside looking in the baith of you are tiresome and an embarrasment to civilised scotland - this as with many other, rendition helps to perpetuate the rift, if only by the way it is received and generally those singing it know exactly what they are doing - 5 points deducted fro every sectarian or related chant thatd shut yous up

  • well at least we agree on one thing, both sides are full of bullshit!! I sing this as a folk song with no sectarianism intended at all. I hate fecking bigots, racist and arseholes.

so I do not see how you think i am singing this as any other way. when the celtic fans sing it they make it sectarian by changing, or adding lyrics that do not exist in the song, words I will never sing,

folk song, always was and always will til someone changes it which i have not.

  • I am home. I am scottish born and bred. This is a folk song and sung as a folk song. I am suspecting you are a rangers fan??? typical response really, and a bit boring. get over your bigotry and grown up.

  • here mate why not do a cover of king billys on the wall tattie songs died out when the foreigners hit our country lol

  • here mate why not do a cover of king billys on the wall tattie songs died out when the foreigners hit our country lol

  • great sound on gtr and vocal ¡¡¡

    high qualytie VID

    FIVE

  • great job! This is a lovely version.

And for what it's worth, that stupid musicmanelvis is a complete jerk.

  • This is one of my favourite songs you did a lovely cover. I enjoyed it thanks.

  • Have you ever heard the dance version, its cool too but love it as a straight ballad too, the punk version is brilliant too, wish I could sing and play guitar as good as that. I do not claim to be a singer just someone who loves to sing and have fun as you will see on my videos.

  • never heard the dance version and I hope I never do,lol, I hate dance music.

I might do this properly and post it again. I was just fannying around here really.

  • Its done by the Cox Crew and is very different, they made it for the discos. Don't like dance music either, well nothing too techno.

I think I have done a version of the Fields Of Athenry in my Irish Melody vids for St Patricks Day, have done lots of songs on my channel from a wide genre.

  • Correct there mate as an Irishman and Celtic fan we do sing it but its just an Irish folk song about a guy stealing during famine.

Nice version mate and reason I subbed to your channel, I love meeting new artists even with a bit of misunderstanding at the start.

Athenry is in County Galway in the west of Ireland but you knew that.

    James

  • Also, most of us don't even know what Athenry means.Sorry.

  • thanks for your comments Elvis. I dont try to claim to be trying to make it in music, I can do this much much better, this was deliberatly done like this.

Athenry is in Ireland. During the Irish potato famine few crops were grown here. Michael in the song stole crops from travelyn a british civil servant who was managing it for the british, so Michael got sent to Botany bay where the criminals went then.

I am thinking you are american? when you say most of us dont know, who is most of us?

    Ken

  • I'm gonna have to weigh in here and caution you about trying to "make it" in my industry. This performance is "ok" maybe for a picnic or a baby shower but not for getting famous.Just so you know.I say this as music critic for The Agency.I know these things.I can help you if you will let me.
