I listened this song when i was a kid, is one of my favourite songs, I am 18 years old, and i can't stop to listen it in my iPod. I was searching this song since a lot of time...
Our highschool band used to play this tune. May not sound like thats all that special but to hear a whole band including tubas blasting this song across the field at night gave me chills. Awesome song.
This song creeps my little brother out, not sure why. He said it reminds him of that one movie where that possessed car would play old songs on the radio before it killed the people inside. Not sure what the name of that was. Cool song though.
rocsan100...sorry about your dad. I held my mom as she took her last breath...it's something you realIy can never forget. Oh, I always liked this song too.
fuck yeah i never saw crime story but i live my life like a fucking crime story so fuck yeah keep it on the down low homeboy and stay out of trouble and get your fucking plata homie
I love singing this song. I am 23 and I grew up on music like this. great song and also one of my favorite songs on my MP3. it was also used in the show Crime Story that came out in the eighties.
@SRCivic98 Heck yeah! I thought that I was like one in a million people who ever saw Crime Story! That is awesome. I'm 32, and this is the kind of music I grew up on as well.
Del was Charles Westover. When my wife was young a Westover was trying to get Del a date while he was around but she felt too young and innocent and said no.
What a talent, and what a sad shame Del's end was. I lived in the county he started in (Ottawa County, Coopersville, Michigan) ... I was soooo envious when I heard he had a 1959 Thunderbird .... even tho I couldn't drive until 1965!
I'm 19 y.o. white male, and I love this song, along with so many other eclectic genres. Rap, Country, Eurodance, Emo, Alternative Rock, Classic Rock, Soul, Oldies, Rockabilly, etc...
Played this song crusin in my 55 Chevy in High School in 73 and still play it over and over. Have a 57 chevy now and It plays in it too! One of the best. RIP Del
@spongebobbette23 Right on. I have been told that I have an old soul. I often wonder what it would have been like to live in the 1950s. Some of the greatest music of all time came out of the 50s and 60s and this song is proof of it.
I'm seventeen and love this song, drive along in my car with it SO loud, ahh the looks middle aged people give me when they realise im not listening to dubstep, gotta love a good music taste ;)
@josephwa93 hey man what's with the hate, i'm 22 and jam to this song along with the dubstep! But regardless how much i love dubstep, this song wins time and time again.
I bought a casette player for my car in place of its CD player so that I could hear awesome tracks like this while driving the open road. My dad had too good a tape collection to waste them, so i long term borrowed them from him when his taste went bad.

@rocsan100 Oh Sweetie.....I'm so sorry. I just found this video, or I would have written sooner. Take care of yourself and remember Dad always. I love this song too and I heard it long before American Graffitti. Yep, I'm old!

Im 14 or 20 years old and I................... WHO GIVES A FLYING FUCK ABOUT YOUR FUCKING PATHETIC AGE. GO FUCK YOURSELF, SHUT THE FUCK UP AND LISTEN TO THE FUCKING SONG. STOP TELLING PEOPLE HOW OLD U ARE NOBODYS GIVES A FUCK, BITCH!.
@howtogetbannedsans People specify their age because, as i'm sure you're not a moron and you realise fully, this song is a product of the sixties. It's actually a great compliment to the song and the entire era of music really for people of that age group to find enjoyment in the music. That's why they say their age.
P.S Have you considered taking Ritalin? You may benefit from it....
@KiteSwift OH REALLY? I thought people stated their age because this song was from 2 days ago(sarcasm?) ............. So i say again WHO GIVES A FLYING FUCK HOW OLD YOU ARE. SHUT THE FUCK UP AND LISTEN TO THE FUCKING SONG AND ENJOY. NOW GO FUCK YOURSELF
@KiteSwift People specify their age because they're trying to impress everyone. @howtogetbannedsans is exactly right, and there's enough annoying repetitive shit on YouTube that I don't need to see an "im 14 and blah blah blah" on every motherfucking song that was cut before 1990 or whenever.
If they're so keen on impressing everyone, they can act like adults and shut the fuck up. I don't fucking care how old anyone is unless they're a piece of muff and over 18.
@KiteSwift Heh...lots of trolls around here, huh? When I get too optimistic about human nature, I just log on and see what kinds of things people say in an anonymous forum! :-D
@teainthesahara The irony is, these people are probably perfectly pleasent when you meet them face to face, but when they go home and turn their computers on, they exact their vengeance of their inadequacies in life through being rude and abrasive to everyone via anonymous messaging systems like this. People wouldn't act like this if we could see who they were. They'd be embarrassed lol.
It's best to see it for what it really is: Individuals who are clearly insecure with themselves :)
nah who wishes to be cruisin wit they main girl on a summer night bumpin sum slow jam oldies wit the top down in a 64 or 63 impala wit a candy paint job low nd slow hahahahaha
In the spring of the upside down year of 1961 I was 11 and this was the coolest song on the radio. I remember them all. Tossing 'n Turning, Big Bad John, (Kennedy's favorite.) Will you Love me Tomorrow, Crying.... Apache all wonderful stuff.
@KJ0012 When the cop was at the school talking to Arnie? If you go and read up on the car and its history, that car actually never came out in that color in real life.
I work at a Sam's Club and they have oldies like this playing all the time. Some of it's pretty cool, but I don't dig a lot of it. This song really kinda bugs me because of that annoying "WHA WHA WHA" that suddenly catches my attention. Really like the interlude at 1:11, though.
I used to play all the old jams in the car on the 8-track. My kids would sing along in the backseat! Today, they are in their 30's-40's and LOVE the Oldies!!!
Like many other young people (by young people I mean those born 1960 and after), I grew up listening to this kind of music (and even older stuff, like the Hit Parade era) thanks to my parents, but I actually always loved it. I can remember enjoying this as young as age 2. It was kind of tough growing up though to find this kind of stuff in a music store, but it's a good thing that YouTube came around a few years ago so that all I need to do is type in a song title, and there it is.
@MVillani1985 So true!!! Once my granddaughter showed me Youtube OMG it was ON!!! Love finding all the oldies I thought I might never listen to again and all they young people who know how to appreciate all kinds of music! Good for you!!
@pathweaver1 I probably have about 500 different songs in my favourite places, and the good thing is, they last a lot longer than records did (but still, nothing's better than a 45). Another great thing about YouTube is that I discovered oldies that I didn't know existed that were way ahead of their time, such as I Hear A New World by Joe Meek. The album is from 1959, but it's a unique kind of music that's both weird and enjoyable and sounds more like something from the 70s or even later.
@MVillani1985 Wow! I just listened to Joe Meeks' song, I Hear a New World and had to listen to it again. I am very surprised that his music was so far before his time - psychedelic even LOL. Musta had some good drugs back then since some of the comments on that post implied that he was a speed freak, etc. Someone stated that he died tragically. We've lost too many gifted musicians that way. Thanks for sharing.
i have major anxiety and depression for this last 14 years . can't rearlly sleep good at night, i wish they would just runaway. anyway. love your song Del Shannon.

Ce fut devant Loisirs Scientific pl Richebé .Quel Bonheur & c'est à cette occasion que repassait cette mélodie sur les Ondes .

@guanajuato1987 Yep. Shannon suffered from depression and committed suicide on February 8, 1990, with a .22 caliber rifle at his home. I guess I can "understand" in a way why some people do it, but it's still so sad though.
I love this song! Was one of the very first songs I remember as a little tike rockin' to the great music of the 60's in my cloth washable diapers (Sorry mom!). How I miss the music of the 60's and 70's.... :)
When this song came out in 1961 I was 12 and my dad worked on the airforce base at the time. This was his favorite song and reminds me of him every time I hear it. Love you dad.
Respond to this video... my dad used to listen to that song to. he love just having some beer and listening to old music rest in peace dad . im listening down here i hope your still listening up there
It sucks that most oldies stations are on AM. AM only has one advantage, distance. i just wish that they had more oldies stations where i live! Get rid of that hip hop crap so i can listen to del, buddy H, tommy edwards, the drifters, the platters and so on
Loved the soaring tenor & facility of his young voice but his voice sounds so very young. I like the deeper voice of his maturity, too. But it always seems to be the way, the voice loses some facility but gains d

MVillani1985 10 months ago
@MVillani1985 So true!!! Once my granddaughter showed me Youtube OMG it was ON!!! Love finding all the oldies I thought I might never listen to again and all they young people who know how to appreciate all kinds of music! Good for you!!
pathweaver1 10 months ago
@pathweaver1 I probably have about 500 different songs in my favourite places, and the good thing is, they last a lot longer than records did (but still, nothing's better than a 45). Another great thing about YouTube is that I discovered oldies that I didn't know existed that were way ahead of their time, such as I Hear A New World by Joe Meek. The album is from 1959, but it's a unique kind of music that's both weird and enjoyable and sounds more like something from the 70s or even later.
MVillani1985 10 months ago
@MVillani1985 Wow! I just listened to Joe Meeks' song, I Hear a New World and had to listen to it again. I am very surprised that his music was so far before his time - psychedelic even LOL. Musta had some good drugs back then since some of the comments on that post implied that he was a speed freak, etc. Someone stated that he died tragically. We've lost too many gifted musicians that way. Thanks for sharing.

@elvisfan22 nah... did he for reals??
guanajuato1987 1 year ago
@guanajuato1987 Yep. Shannon suffered from depression and committed suicide on February 8, 1990, with a .22 caliber rifle at his home. I guess I can "understand" in a way why some people do it, but it's still so sad though.

When this song came out in 1961 I was 12 and my dad worked on the airforce base at the time. This was his favorite song and reminds me of him every time I hear it. Love you dad.
