  • How stupid, I thought that this was going to be a Tennis-related sparta remix. LAME.

  • Is that legal at 1:22? You have to stay on your side of the court during the point, right?

  • Lovely video at the end :)

  • Good job, este! But, don´t you know by any chance where are all those great entertainers - Nastases, Connors´, McEnroes, Lecontes, Noahs, even hated Beckers, etc. etc. etc. Is that white game still a game or is it just pure work and business? Of course, it gives us great and amazing moments, but let´s get more fun! Huh?

  • I can honestly not express how much I miss the older days in tennis (particularly the late 80s/early 90s). Back in the day when a player could not become number one by using just 2 lousy shots (*cough* Nadal *cough*) and when you had different styles in tennis competing on equal footing.

  • Great work!

    Thank you..

    could have quotes too..

"I was born on Centre Court," - Becker

    :)

  • Super video.

  • i wonder if someday people will wear short shorts again lol..

PS. except for agassi, i dont recognize any of them.. ehe.. way b4 my time i guess..

  • Who is the tallest Tennis player?

  • @YyJoBb

Yes, 5`10 is a very good height if you're female.

You'll want to be about 6` if you're male these days, unless you're very quick.

Amanda Coetzer was 5`2 and she was pro. Michael Chang was about 5`7.

    Maria Sharapova is 6`2

  • Where are the Williams' sisters?

  • Big Tennis like this youtube.com/watch?v=M5nWGiRV_G0

  • Xcellent !

  • The best ever, and the exact example/picture of tennis game and example of truly tennis profesionals: Federer, Graf, Navratilova, Sampras, Rafter, Sabatini, Sanchez Vicario, Novotna and everyone before the 90s. For the current players: Henin, Clijsters, Stosur, Llodra, Mahut, Djokovic, Verdasco, Wozniacki.

  • Tennis was so much better in the past, I think all the times before the late 90s, but tennis peaking in 1995/1996. Now, too much racquet power and the string is too much. Tenis suffers. We may also have politics, also the substanced people in what is suposed to be the beautiful sport and a sport with culture. Actually, everything was better before - Sport, arts, music, book, tv, medias, people and society. Sorry to sound negative person, but this is truth. It's over! Clearly begining of the end.

  • @pieldeoliva81 I agree, I loved the stlye of play Krijeck (sorry about misspelling his name) played in 96. I really miss serve volleyers and as a result I watch very little tennis.

  • @queenofcourt how mature was this comment ? ...guess what...immature...

  • awesome compilation - the berfore RF era......

  • love it.

  • WImbledon is Sacred.

  • buen video, me encanta el tenis, gracias por subirlo.

  • former tennis champions.. and you put lucic and kournikova.. funny!

  • tennis was so much better back in the early 90's

  • Who is the long-haired blonde girl of the minute 4:48 and 4:52?

  • @MrFederer9

for 4:52 the french women Mary Pierce

  • @mhaloute

     Thanks!

  • 4:48 is Kournikova, 4:52 is Mirjana Lucic

  • Boy, I still miss Chrissie Evert and Monica Seles. Great video.

  • Brilliant collection of clips and very well put together! :)

  • This is back when the women wore panties under their skirts instead of bicycle shorts. Truly the Golden Age.

  • I have never seen Pete break his racquet like he did around 5:06 :) Yes,so many great moments ... Tennis used to be great and most of all, entertaining and unpredictable sport. It was always interesting to watch the TOP 10 battles ,because the outcome was uncertain . In addition to the talent of the players ,they possessed an extraordinary sense of humour ,which only adds to the appeal of the game of the 1980-1990's :) Outstanding video ,brought back some great memories from the past!

  • Williams sisters are not former tennis players!!!

  • Comment removed

  • read what is written in the first sentence, when video starts...

    ;-)

  • good old days

  • Im not sure if Lucic wins or still wins satellite matches.

  • fantastic moments... those were days we grew up with...those were players who made us love tennis....

  • this WAS tennis.... unfortunatly nowadays is not for genius but for supermen

  • A lot of clips taken from the end of Wimbledon BBC compilation.

  • Great collections of great tennis moments in tennis, although most of them are retired now.

Lucic, shes still playing, mostly on satellites tournaments trying to improve her rankings.

  • It does say dedicted to former champions...Did Lucic ever win a title?

  • Spaniard Arantxa Sanchez Vicario? wooo O:

    well tnkx,tnkx,tnkx!! n.n

  • FANTASTIC video! It must have taken you ages to put it together! Well done!

  • Nice video but you could have included the Williams Sister if you were gonna put Dokic and Kournikova and Hingis. And since it focused on Wimbledon, there has always been a William sister in all finals of wimbledon for the past 10 years (excepts 06)

  • It says dedicated to FORMER tennis champions. The sisters are still playing.

  • Great video! well done.

  • 1:22 he loses the point the moment he touches down on the other side of the net.

  • Steffi

    Graf

    The

    Greatest

    Woman

    Player

    of

    all

    time!!!

  • @RuthlessFerocity No, Navratilova is.

  • @RuthlessFerocity

Monica Seles will always be the best.

her career was ruined by a Steffi Graf fan who stabbed her in the back during a match in 1993 in Germany.

Monica with already 9 slams at age 19 was on her way to be the best of all time when this incident happened and do not ever forget that, Steffi's 22 slams will always be in doubt as 11 of her 22 slams have been won AFTER Monica was stabbed and Monica would never be the same player again, the worst disgrace in tennis sport's history

  • @RuthlessFerocity U must be a Nazi like Graff (a la Eva Braun). She was also the MOST HATED player (not feared) by her peers for being a cunt-Monica Seles claims Graf NEVER contacted her when that fucking GERMAN stabbed her (because he didn't like that Seles was KICKING GRAF'S ASS!) There will always being a question about Graf's "greatness" since Seles who beat Graf regularly for 2 years and was stabbed by another GERMAN NAZI & Seles did not play the next 12 grand slams tournaments.

  • @chrissen1 Steffi Graf never contacted Monica Seles after her stabbing, huh? Actually, she visited her in the hospital, they held hands and cried. It was very emotional. Every claim that you made, especially Graf being a Nazi, is false. Your post is deceitful, abusive, offensive and irresponsible.

  • @RuthlessFerocity thanks to some crazy german fan...(some people said that he was conected with Graf clan)...anything is possible, wrote Einstein.

  • Great video, so sorry what happened to Mirjana Lucic!

  • This is what I've been feeling. 1970s to 1996 (the golden era of modern tennis). This is tennis!!!!!

  • Wow- thanks for the video- brings back so many GREAT memories of these players. Kudos on including Lori Mcneil and Zina Garrison! What ever happened to MirjanaLucic?

  • great

  • amazee!!O:

please can U tell me who is at 2:12?

    tnxks!! :)

  • That is Spaniard Arantxa Sanchez Vicario...reached the ladies' final in 1995 and 1996 at Wimbledon, losing both times to the great Steffi Graf.

  • Do you mean the afro-american guy?

He's MaliVai Washigton. He was Wimbledon finalist in 1996. he lost against Richard Krajicek

  • Awesome!

  • Thanks for the video.. I like it a lot.. my top 5 favorite male players of all time are Sampras, Becker, Edberg, Agassi and Courier.. My top 5 favorite female players of all time are Graf, Seles, Sabatini, Hingis and Pierce..

  • @linchpin7 mine looks something similar only like this 1.Edberg 2.Sampras 3.Becker 4.Borg 5.Agassi female 1.Graf 2.Navratilova 3.Billie Jean King 4.Hingis 5.Novotna
  • I long to live as a young 21 year old man in the year 1964, to see the really amazing players in all those sports ... to hear the magnificent music of that time ... to feel the culture of this golden epoch ...

too bad im only 19, tennis was certainly wonderful back then ...

and the woman tennis today is pure whack if i can say it that way. safina being number 1... thats a joke ...

  • I can only agree with you...you are so right. Today there is nearly no occasion on the courts where you can have a good laugh with the players...so different to the oldern times.

  • The last funny stuff what happened were with Agassi ... and I don't want anyone sayn' the name of the djoker, he isn't funny at all -. -

  • loved it! brilliant!

  • LOL the guy jumping over the net!

  • I miss Sabatini :(

  • me too

  • unforgettable

  • although great vid.

  • Graf-Navratilova 10-10 Graf-Evert 8-6 Graf-Sabatini 29-11 Graf-SanchezVicario 28-8 Graf-Seles 10-5 Graf-Capriati 10-1 Graf-Davenport 9-6 Graf-Hingis 7-2 Graf-Venus 3-2 Graf-Serena 1-1 From the mouth of Steffi: "I don't think I have anything to prove." Steffi Graf, the greatest woman tennis player of all time!
  • though one has to wonder the 'what if' Monica wasn't stabbed, who was consistently beating Steffi at the time of the stabbing. Steffi also had problems against Amanda Coetzer, who lost to just about everyone else, lol

  • That is not true. In those years Seles could win majors in most tournaments they didn't met each other. when u imagine what happened in grafs family u know why she had problems in some years.

  • since she left, i never watched tennis again like before, lost my interest, all you have to do watch he physice her movments her forheand and her slice and enjoy it at maximum

  • "Graf's motivational forces were internal, not external, and she never longed for the sort of rivalry shared by Navratilova and Chris Evert because her main opponent was always herself. Perfection was Graf's goal in every match, and her consistent pursuit of perfection left her with a 902-115 won-lost record and a winning percentage of .887, second only to Evert's .900."

New York Times, August 14, 1999

  • Wow! amazing info.. thanks for that.. women's tennis will never be the same without steffi.. miss her a lot!!

  • 1:30 LOL!!!

  • At the end of the film

Sampras passes his victory trophy to competitor....and fellow passes it back to him... beautiful indeed

  • I don't think is a matter of talent: ther has been a big change in the way of playing, so contemporary tennis is more influenced by muscles, tv, and materials than the old. That's all.

If you see the style of Martina Navratilova or Gabriela Sabatini, Mc Enroe or Becker, and you try to compare to Sharapova, Roddick or Williams, there's no comparison, from the point of view of the elegance, the style, the show. But nothing to say about the fact that they are all the great champions.

  • Nice seing Gaby's Gran Willy.

  • HINGIS!!

  • very nice music video!! Really enjoyed it ;)

  • great vid.

  • estel74, Where do you get these images?

  • All images are from Wimbledon Official Films

  • Nadal is ruining modern tennis with his boring ass game, and his asshole attitude.

  • Asshole...:-)

    yes, he's an asshole kid.

I think that he supposed to be a great champion but the truth is that his game is terribly boring and limited. he is only able to beat the ball and scream. he wins so much because he hasn't good rivals at this time. If Nadal had played tennis 20 years ago would never have been in the top ten.

  • Totally agree. Federer can beat him easily if he just would play as good as he used too.

  • have you ever heard the name roger federer?

  • Hey Nadal isn't a bad player and certainly has rivals, you never heard of FEDERER, DJOCKOVIC and MURRAY! Hes been beaten by them all and will be again...especially MURRAY! Come on!!!

  • have you ever heard od LAVER, ROSEWALL, TILDEN, GONZALES, BUDGE......and more recently BORG, CONNORS, MCENROE, BECKER, EDBERG, AGASSI, SAMPRAS???????????

Guy, there is no comparison between this Giants and this modern tennis player! Another style, another talent, another tennis, another world.

I've already said it: beyond Roger Federer ther is nothing!!!!

  • ok how many of them have played nadal!?! I meant Nadal has competition like the other big 3, hmm can't remember when becker went against Nadal...when was that!?!

  • nadal isnt a bad player, its just his style. there is no touch or talent, just running and hitting until the other guy misses.

  • are you seriously saying he has no talent? so i guess anyone can be number one in the world then

  • I would like to remember you that also players like Munster and Rios became n. 1, and for sure you can't say that they were talented players!!!!

  • how stupid to suggest that a player who is now dominant on all surfaces has no talent..

fool of a took. he just lacks some of federer's elegance

  • he just beat hard the ball. I can't see any talent in that. You can say that he's a great athlete, he's strong, fast, powerful, no doubt. But a true tennis player must be something more of a great athlete.

For sure he's a good, honest and funny guy. In any case, those are always good qualities.

  • Nadal is just a "pallettaro"! if you like him even if is always stuck on the bottom line and is just able to hit hard the ball....well, it's a matter of tastes.

In my opinion this is not tennis!

  • I agree!!!

  • Before the days of hot balls and racquets when you had to play tennis and not just serve fast balls.

  • The tennis' Golden Era. We will never see anymore such tennis players. They didn't hit the ball, of course they weren't muscled, maybe they weren't so fast and powerful like modern tennis players. But they didn't need to be so. They were true artists. The racquet in their hands was like a brush in the hand of Raffaello. They were full of grace, elegance and talent. Now, beyond King Roger, there is nothing......for me real tennis is died

  • estel74 ,

These new kids may be a little bigger but none of them , including Rodger, could rally as long as the guys back in the 70s or 80s. Give these new guys a wooden racquet and they would get beat like a rug.

  • you're right. for example when I'm watching playing tennis Nadal or Roddick or anyone else of these kids, it seems to me that, instead of a racquet , they having a stick in their hands. They hit the ball so hard and so fast, but no one of them is able to make a demi-voleè or a short ball or lob....

  • Thanks for this video! Tennis sure has changed a lot. It's nice that you only chose Wimbledon scenes. Classic looks to classic players.

  • Why isnt this more popular?

  • :-(

  • gotta love the progression of the strokes and the athleticism... tennis sure has come a long way

  • Great! I love tennis

  • yes is Sabatini!

    anyway, nice vid :)

  • 2:24 is that sabatini doing the 'tweener?
