Another yet classic. Have you noticed that TPOK JAZZ troops did not only produce sweet music but delivered some meaningful message to the audience? Oh boy and the strings? Luambo could pick them. The guy is gone and we are in for a very very very long haul before Africa can see (probably never) another genius on both vocals and strings like him. A rare kind.
This is practically the song that launched Sam Mangwana. What a tune! They used to play it a lot on Radio Tanzania's "Hongera" programme in the evenings and I'd tune in just to hear it. Still gives me the shivers. Thank you for keeping these African/Lingala classics alive!
Mate. When I get married, me and my missus will have this music playing.... and kick open the door at the back of the hall at precisely 2:59 above. And fucking boogie....
This the music my late father loved. i was not born when this music existed, but it reminds me my father. C'est ce genre de music qui me fait rappeler mes origines. Merci beaucoups Nzuzi pour ce service.
According to Nzau Diop the song "Ou Est Le Serieux?" was Franco's jab at three musicians who were not serious about their work: Youlou, Bitshou and Mosese. The trio had left OK Jazz the previous year to join the competition, Vicky's Lovy du Zaire.
