It's a crappy bike. My little brother has the same model in black, and I'll tell you this: Trek does not make bikes like they used to. For a bike in the $500.00 range, the components are sub par. Shimano acera derailleur, and suntour suspension are crap, very low end. And the brakes suck, they could of at least put avid bb3's on it for that price. I remember buying a Gary Fisher back in 05 (which is owned by trek), and I payed $450 for the bike and it came with better components.
I was just at this shop over the weekend. I can't say enough good about the guy who helped me. I really didn't like this bike though. It just felt cheaply put together. The fork is a piece of s**t, and it just felt like something was off. Maybe its just the way it felt for me. I ended up with a Cannondale Trail 5 for only $100 more. This is a great shop though, very helpful and they don't give you crap if you have a smaller budget.
What's the difference between the '09 and '10 model of this bike? And how much cheaper (about) would the '09 be? Really thinking about picking one up. Thanks!
I just bought this bike for myself today. My first Mountain I ever owned. I went for a nice ride earlier and it was fantastic smooth ride. Although I don't have disc brakes... =( but I got mine in Copper/black.
this is propaganda

I like disc brakes better because they brake smoother not as jerky a transition. Good for when you want to light brake to keep your momentum.

@RawStylus909
You're fine with V-brakes. You'll probably need disc brakes only when using in extreem terrains. Mud, lots dirt, puddles, etc....
