  • No Video! So?

  • Captain Beyond forever. Light years ahead of their time. Amazing progressive music. Hooked since Iron Butterfly.

  • way ahead of their time!

  • This song gives me flashbacks. ;0)~

  • Nothing left to live for ... Great music indeed !!!

  • I have the original album since buying it in about 1972. Strangest mix of southern rock blended with Calif. vocals and folkie ever. Very little space rock out there besides Captain Beyond unless you know of some? I hear Marshall Tucker, Allman Bros. CSN&Y & America in this; wonder who inspired who?

  • Still have my original vinyl - " Drifting in Space " Trippy album art .

  • Still have this on vinyl in storage . Really spacey album art .

  • CLASSICAL ROCKING

  • sufficiently breathless, one of the greats, also what a great name for a band.

  • Back in the day I played it until the vinyl started turning whitish. Just a great album, well crafted music, totally tripped out artwork.

  • remember this record came out in 1971!!!!!

  • They were there right around the same time as Spirit. This song reminds me of Spirit. A magical confluence of the best talent of the day all met on the same street corner and knocked this shit out. The Captain is something special. Thanks for the post!!

  • my first and only planned acid trip

  • Totally love this one. Thanks for posting.

  • A friend left me all his 33s and 45s before he died of a terminal illness, and two were captain beyond LPs. This music will always remind me of the gentle hippie i knew.

    R.I.P Rusty

  • theyll never be another 70 s...the first half of that decade brought us some of the best music ever!...great post ty

  • 2:28 just floatin!

  • @wilhoitsux LOL! :')

  • transcendant tune.

comes into my head each time i get to that right place "sitting on the doorstoop watching all the multi-quasar people pass me by..."

    yeah..........

  • @MrKirkenstein

    sorry dude-

    Sitting on the doorstoop

Watching multiples of people pass me by

Look through the windows, through the houses

    Oh, they're made of sky

  • Had the album in '73 while stationed in Hawaii .

  • The Crown Royal has been joined with a little leaf...even mellower than before. Follow me to Remember the Future by Nektar. Be aware it is a fairly long song. It may make you aware or make you nap. It may be my last stop for the night.

  • five motherfuker stars to this krazy art!!!

  • Magic song!

  • Very underated. Never a big following but so much talent.

  • Thank You for posting this song. I first heard this song in the 70's and for the longest time I tried to think of the name of the band that sang it. I found it a couple of weeks ago and have really appreciated the music

  • I heard this on an oldies station late night last week and had to look it up and download. Really tight band with much talent.

  • Talent over image!!!!

  • One of my favorite songs. They more than rocked. I think I'm about to blow out my speakers. Crank it up. I wish they would come back but at least I have all their CD'S. Thanks so much for posting this.

  • The intro sounds like the Beatles 'Mother Nature Son'

  • This band was Amazing!! A Clean, pure sound, original. You would think they would have been more popular since Ryno & Dorman were from Iron Butterfly & Evans from Deep Purple.

The Captain, I think was better than both those group. Bobby Caldwell could play. I can see by the views not too many people...

  • It all most makes me cry, the music years ago was so touching and beautiful. These days its all rap and X factors and strange people 'singing' stuff.

  • I first tripped to this album when I was 20 in 1973. Had to get the CD, wore it out to. Now it is on my iPod. Aint technology great? And aint we old? I had this on lp, 8 track CD and now ipod.

  • great acoustic guitar busk... i'll post a video of the tune soon...if i can find someone who can sing

  • I bought this cd in 1991 Japaneze when came up to the market ,, I paid a fortune something 90,00 bucks

  • i have the first 3 cds on jap...and waited till they went to the delete bin.. only paid $4.99 canadian...dawn explosion was only 3.99...ripped them many many times since then...

  • holy shit that's a lot of money

  • those of us that experienced this are so lucky...

  • a great song ,from a great record, this song takes me back to 74 (i think) summer in the mountains of western Pa. beautiful hippy girls ,no worries ,,, i sure miss those days ..

  • Out here in Wyoming it was windowpane, mescaline and hash and oh yes there were hippy girls. It wasn't as redneck as one would think.

  • man my dad used to play this when i was like a little kid and i only recently realized how good this shit is

  • This was made for microdot. I loved this whole LP. I "lost" the album back in '75. Still remember it note for note.

  • This song really reminds me of my youth. Very psychadelic. Point the way with your hand....gun.

  • Talk about drifting off listening to this track. A classic. Efin timeless. Thanks for posting. Still have the album and still love it.

  • in 72 we'd never heard a guitar sustain like that!!

    it was majic

  • I had a friend who played it on a 12 string ,love this song

  • Thanks for posting - love this song - love the album - always thought this one would be good at my funeral!

  • The chorus to this song has been running thru my mind for decades,,brings back memories of long lazy afternoons floating on mushroom clouds

  • Damn I miss circa 197x.

  • could someone please pass along the tabs/ chords, i've always wanted to play this. i think it's open D but would like some direction on it, please!!!! thanks

  • what a great tune.the words with many interpretations and the great lead and rhythm cords and backing vocals.man what a tune.maybe the best song ever????

  • Great song - I still hear it on Sirius satellite radio from time to time.

  • Great song from the Simpler days in St Louis!! Dedicate to Dan Niestat, a hard working stiff who deserves more. RIP Deniese, class of 79!!

  • This song absolutely mesmerizes me and always has. Classic. Like someone else said, hard to believe it isn't more well known than it is. I get in a Little Feat mood and for whatever reason I think of this tune too and end up pulling out the CD to hear it. THX for posting!

  • These guys put out 2 incredible albums.

  • 2 really good albums! this is a great song. I played the heck out of this one when I was young. still love it today!

  • Music from the golden age rock! Freedom!!

  • what a great song...too bad it's not well known at all. I played it today on the radio though

  • THANKS!!! I've always loved this song.

    Sooooooo.......relaxing

  • lead vocal, Rod Evans former lead singer of Deep Purple (sang Joe South's "Hush", smash hit). Lee Dorman also in this band -ex-Iron Butterfly.

  • their guitarist Larry Reinhardt was also an ex-iron butterfly member

  • great stuff! <3 this band and im a young cat...makes me wanna drop and fest! laugh love and live

  • I still say this is the best band most people never heard of. Brings me back to the days of hashish, mescaline and Berkley Four-Way windowpane and being a free-range hippie.

  • absolutely!!even if you`re an aging freak like me.

  • probably influenced me more than any other song to play guitar way back in '73

  • The best !!!!!!!

  • Great accoustical sound,I love the song....groovyness to its max....
