Well technically Jecht was both good and evil. He was good before he became sin. When Braska, Auron and Jecht went to get the Final Aeon, Jecht gave his up his life to become Sin. So when Jecht became sin, he became evil.

I saw the ending of the game but I thought that was Golbez, but then Golbez was the one talking to the group so... but I had thought he turned over a new leaf at the end or something. Anyways, I think it has to do with the relationship of the villain to the hero. Sin was the villain X right? Could SE have really put in like a something-foot(90-feet?) whale inside a game as an opponent? Jecht was Tidus's father and Cecil and Golbez are brothers (right?).

Yes the final boss of Final Fantasy 4 is Zeromus, Cecil and Golbez are brothers and Golbez did turn over a new leaf in the end. He went to the moon with Fusoya. Then each character goes back to rebuild their lives and their kingdoms.

I agree if you jump at the right moment with Kain he just come back after Rydia's Myst Dragon blew the Shadow Dragon away and it's indeed an easy fight just keep using Titan and strike at him with Cecil while Kain keep jumping...piece of cake the Calbrena before him was harder when he keep reconstructing and tearing appart into many dolls

i know that Golbez has his elemental barrier and still is by far one of the easiest battles in the DS

i thought the first rubicante battle was far easier.

rubicante is easily my favorite elemental archfiend. all the others used some underhand trick to try to kill you when they lost, but rubicante fought well, and took it like a true warrior when he was defeated.

i sort of respect him for it.

Back in the old SNES days the stun attack came much faster, but if you got Kain's jump off it was a HUGE asset. He retuns from the jump but misses the instant kill. Having Kain in this fight made it a cakewalk

Because it's completely different. Golbez has a shifting elemental barrier and you have to find out what his weakness is each time he shifts so you don't accidentally heal him, while also being Bio'd like crazy at the same time.

Not really, just use beastairy and the summon that he's weak againast XD I beat him in 2 hits, excluding the mist dragon blow.

When mist dragon hit him it did about 1700 damage

That is still way more difficult than in the original and GBA versions. You can pretty much just blast him apart in those versions without much effort.

an old trick that worked for me back on the SNES was to have rosa cast wall (reflect) on herself and anyone else besides cecil. Demolish (black fangs) was reflected back and the characters didn't die.

Yeah, kinda. Leon as the Dark Knight always made a Golbez like entrance, and of course all the Knights and Soldiers of the Palamecian army had that Armored look to them. The before that in the original Final Fantasy, you could say that Garland was the origin of that theme.

This is probably my favorite scene in the whole game. I remember being a wee eight-year-old with a huge crush on Rydia playing this on the SNES. I was nearly shitting my pants thinking Golbez was gonna straight-out kill me and remember being sooo overjoyed when Rydia showed up. I was sure she had died earlier in the game so I loved it when she showed up all heroic and saved my ass. :D

Same here, I got the SNES Version of this game for like my 6th or 7th birthday but I can still remember this fight so well. It's funny though cause I remember having a crush on this pixelated character as well. But then again she did save my ass from that Shadow. Plus, she was probably my most useful character.
