I used to have this toy but at night, it moved by itself, so I locked it in my toybox and the next morning it was on my bed O.O so I threw it right away down the shoot. LOL
Has anyone else noticed that when the "Smeagol/Gollum" talk together while the Hobbitses are asleep, there is a difference in the eyes when the two speak(in the books, when Gollum was speaking, there was green light in his eyes). It's the black dots in their eyes. When Smeagol speaks, the dots are huge. When Gollum speaks, the dots are little.
wow that was cool, i didnt know anything about lord of the rings except the stuff you get from the movie until looking at the comments. but i have one question. how did Gollum/Smeagol loose the ring to Bilbo in the first place, and how long do you think his temper tantrum lasted? lol
@TW1ZTYarms Over the years after getting the ring, one effect of Smeagol's transformation was that he didn't like the sun's light, so he went to live under/inside the Misty Mountains. In the Hobbit, Bilbo stumbled across the Ring in a cave under the mountains, and as he tries leaving Gollum essentially tries stopping him, moaning that his 'Precious is lost'. Then, Bilbo uses the Ring to become invisible and escape the caves, and Gollum curses Bilbo as he slips past him.
I recently watched the movies and fell in love with them! They just capture your mind emotion and whatever there's left of you. It was as if I were right with them, walking, crying, stressing, fighting, winning, laughing, then crying again before falling back to reality. One thing still confuses me though. Does the ring extend on your life? Why did Sauron only come back then and not before?
@xoxrandomgirlxoxlol Yes, the ring extends life; it kept Gollum alive for 500 years when he had it, and even after he lost it, and same with Bilbo for about 50 years. In the movies you also would've noticed that Bilbo looked very old by the end, because he lost it after depending on it for so long. It wasn't exactly clear why Sauron only came back after more than 2000 years, it just said that in the 50 years or so before LotR he regained some power and physical form and returned to Mordor.
@AL3X1412 Wow I completely forgot about Bilbo- so true! It's enough to know it took 2000 years for sauron to regain some physical existence. Do any of Tolkien's book speak of sauron's past in depth?
@xoxrandomgirlxoxlol Actually, Sauron himself was immortal for different reasons, the ring just enhanced his power and influence over other people (the leaders of elves, dwarves and men that he gave rings to). I believe The Silmarillion goes into some depth of Middle Earth's overall creation and history, including a fair bit about Sauron and his own master, but I haven't actually read it myself.
for some reason, I felt Gollum was the one who saved everyone.. in the movie, Frodo almost put on the ring and left... good thing Gollum was there... dunno abt the story from the book tho..
@StRapier He did save everyone in a way, but he wasn't really trying to. He only stopped Frodo because he was trying to take it for himself, and if he'd succeeded it would've been just as bad as Frodo taking the Ring.
@AL3X1412 It wasn't him who wanted the ring. He wanted help but then was beaten by Faramir and his people and felt forever neglected, therefore decided to only live for himself and himself being that "precious" of his. Sorry I know this came out of nowhere but smeagol is just so...so.. not sure how to put it but there's something about him that just makes me want to step right up there give him a hug and tell he needn't to feel neglected. And then I'd adopt him :D
@StRapier In the book he slips and falls when he's jumping around with the ring so he's directly responsible for destroying it, whereas in the film Frodo kinda knocks him off.
@eiricm No, he was a hobbit: his name was Smeagol. His friend Deagol found the ring, and Smeagol killed him and stole it, and his looks changed over the next 500 years as he became Gollum.
@eiricm You kinda right according to the books he wasn't a technically Hobbit but nor was he a Elf, but rather a early genetic relative of the race that evolved into Hobbits known as the River folk it's explained better in the book, there's a section in the end of the Return of the king which shows the genetic line of the Hobbits from the earliest days of recorded history till the fourth age of middle earth, and Smeagol's race is a part of that line.
"Dummer, fetter Hobbit"
best story/movie made! agree?

Cool - how did you shrink the ring at 0.54?
Obviously Sam was very sensitive about his weight!
