  • I'm speechless.

  • Worse technique? But then if it works maybe the traditional technique is wrong or needs to be broken away from.

  • Perkins should not have won this. The show was rigged.

  • INCREDIBLE breath-taking

  • this is great. music comes from the heart and not from the head. sir roger (i worked with him and the stuttgart radio sinfonie orchestra) is pretty amused. i love that!

  • Goldie is always moving forward and keeping things interesting in his life.

  • I CAN'T HELP BUT FEEL THE RATS CRAWLING ALL OVER ME EVERY TIME I HEAR THIS TUNE. WONDERFUL - WONDERFUL TUNE. BRILLIANTLY CONDUCTED BY A MAD MAN. BRAVO! GOLDIE BRAVO!

  • Maybe he did direct with his elbows... but the band responded... IN SPADES! They exploded! into all the power written into this piece.

  • how do you play this with a chamber..and make it sound powerful? ok...if that dude was so great he would havd a bigger orchastra right? am i right??!?

  • COMPLETE RUBBISH!!!

  • like teaching a monkey tricks. good monkey, good.

  • am I see Clive from whose line?

  • @stefanband ahaha

  • The thing with people who only have passion and not enough knowledge - instead of conducting music, the music conducts them - they're just doing a form of choreography. Plus the fact that none of these conductors actually rehearsed with the orchestra - they're not truly imposing their interpretation of the piece on the musicians, which is the fundamental, defining task of a conductor, besides waving his/her arms - makes the whole competition just a show of choreography.

  • So codename 47 finally decided to turn over a new leaf? Well he sucks at it

  • This no talent hack understands nothing! except maybe pushing buttons on a console. It's an insult that he is in front of a competent orchestra, with nothing to offer, but "I can make machine go boom duh". I have performed with talented musicians who do not read music, this has nothing to do with conducting, you must be able to read to know where you are, and he got lost big time at the end!!! If you want to see how this is done check out the real performance on this page (peer gynt).

  • @jagang31 You sir, are an absolute FOOL. Not only is Goldie one of the all time best prodcuers in the Drum and Bass scene, but his album Timeless is regarded within the wider music scene as being one of the best works of producing in modern music. So for a 'fool pressing a few buttons', he's not done badly. I understand you are some old-dusty dinosaur who wants to keep his music stale and unaccessable to people you don't deam worthy, but in all honesty you are just showing what a snob you are

  • @hollandfocus Whilst I agree with you in principle, in reality if he hasn't rehearsed with the orchestra, then he is essentially just performing amateur (good mind, but still amateur) choreography, as physphilmusic said. I have no doubt he's great at Drum 'n' Bass, but until he has properly rehearsed and learnt the music (which involves more than just listening to it a few times), then in my eyes he's no conductor.

  • @BoJanglezzzzzz Absolutely. I don't even think Goldie would attempt to say he is a conductor. What I admire him for is his ability to compose. Being a conductor is an outright skill in its own, but when he was given the chance to compose his own orchestral piece he showed imagination and flare that alot of people who dedicate their lives to classical music would kill for. THIS is where he is truly talented

  • Nice

Pretty bad quality of video though

For some reason 1:25 always sounds like some kind of choir...

  • 2:04-2:08, the most fucking crucial moment of the piece, he's just flailing his arms around and making faces. Looking at that segment alone, you'd have to conclude he doesn't have any rhythm. The orchestra saved him at the end. Being "really into it", having "passion" won't save you.

I'm not saying he couldn't learn how to do it, but he'd after to learn. Blowing sunshine up his ass and fake orgasmic enthusiasm (1:51) don't fool me.

  • deberia darse un tiro en la cabeza, y hacerle un favor a la humanidad...!! ya tenemos muchos traficantes..... y por lo visto usted es uno de ellos, traficante de la musica..!!

  • Hitman lol

  • lol, looks like hitman

  • clive anderson's like wtf 0_o

  • Some hard crack cocaine helped him there. But he truly just wanted to sample it for his newest Drum and Bass track.

  • @UltimoImperio

    Kidding.

  • This is crap!!! Someone who can't read music, also means he can't play anything either!!! This makes him more than worthless to an orchestra, as he never knows where he is on the music. As a person who reads music, and has had a baton in his hand I can tell you he lost control at the end, on the breaks, if it were not for the musician's, it would have ended badly!!!

  • @jagang31 So what you are saying is a person who can't read music can't play anything that is crap Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughn could not read music but were some of the greatest guitar players in the world there are alot of people who can't read music but can play so be careful what you say. Have a nice day.

  • @bigguy4570 Yes but that's different- they're guitarists, not people in charge of an entire orchestra- people who NEED to be able to follow the music, so that they a) understand where they are and b) know exactly who they're conducting and when! Without that, they're lost, and basically flapping their arms like idiots like he does at the end.

  • PHAHAH LOL! He was really INTO IT.

  • Sure did. :D Think of how hilarious it must've been for the rest of the audience behind him.

  • Yeah. But thats how it must be done! If everybody did theyr jobs with the same passion the world wouldve been a better place!

  • You are right, of course. I never said I didn't like it, I only said it must've been hilarious, seeing as how cynic and stiff and cautious people are these days, afraid of being passionately keen of someting. As you said, that's the way must be done!

By the way, I presume that by your post you meant the conductor or the bandmaster? I, on the contrary, originally meant the man in the audience (seen at 1:30).

  • No I mean the Maestro lol. I think most ppl reacted in their mind with this: WTF is he doing? Than came the LOL part and finally BRAVO! haha I always enjoy watchin new approaches to anything creativity is a great thing to have. The guy in the audience you are talking about reacted most apropriately for this lol

  • Goldie is the Mountain King!

  • Am i wrong.... but isn´t he (Goldie) left handed? if that´s so.... even better!

  • 1.45 - lower the volume and watch Goldie perform a techno dance.

  • @ffnnmmm

    HAHHA

  • 2:16 LOL

  • I agree...

  • YEAAAAAH! I need to make some video karaoke too! :)

  • goldie with his bass face on

  • yeah goldies wicked...but his mentor was acting like a prick behind him

  • Hah, Goldies a fucking legend.

  • you obviously have no idea what good music is then, do you?

  • Goldie has always made classic tunes! :P

  • almost cried. lol

  • healey

  • hahahahha.awesome!!!

  • I am absolutely impressed. There is no depth to Goldie. Amazing. And one of my most favorite masterpieces.

  • hahah r u trying to be a expert or something?

this is not drum and base man XD

  • this is the drum and 'bass' man..

  • is this just drum and bass? i think there are also violins and flutes and that is not bass nor drums....

  • He handles the acceleration well.

  • i like the way he conducts very much.

  • lol

  • god he's a stunning conductor

  • technique stops being relevant when the music takes over. this guy loves what he does and it shows! screw technique! how else did the Fosbury Flop get invented?

  • fifteen ponts for the high jump reference

  • Comment removed

  • i am a tool

i had no idea it was Goldie who was conducting

ive never like him...until now...this is tremendous :D

  • simply a god...

  • I honestly prefer them to the great conductors. It's like what we do in our living rooms, Fabulous

  • Goldie so shoulda won this show. Seriously. XD

  • @rdtcp ahahaahahahahahahah i couldn't agree more!haha...but nice song!:D

  • @rdtcp I think he did.

  • metalheadz ftw !!11!!

  • goldie = legend. i wanted sue to win from the start but this dude is just fantastic. what a dude.

  • Goldie is the man. He is fab.

  • arise SIR Goldie ......

    RUFIGE

  • brilliant

  • Sir...whatever your name is - Goldie proved that music has nothing to do with 'reading' it. Goldie totally understands music, internally, externally, intellectually, spiritually and physically...and that's what he's demonstrated in this one piece. Music should not be elitist, it's a leveller and Goldie proves that...I hope you win Goldie!

  • Well said! Goldie FTW!

  • @ellajo1209 agreed... and i think goldie can read music

  • Like Paul Pot .... a more than natural talent. This is the way Edvard ment it to be performed. The Cave King has become Mountain King

  • I didn't know he conducted orchestras whilst conducting the Khmer Rouge! :P

  • lol!

  • and yeah, this is some cool stuff

  • that is why he is what he is - Genius (considering he cant read a note)

  • He isn't the only one who can't read notes. Besides, at this level of conducting, notes aren't necessary. He had the best performance though, he deserves credit for that.

  • only one what who cant read notes ? on the show? or in life?

  • On the show of course.

  • im being sarcastic buddy - I hope you enjoy the rest of the show

  • do you know or understand much about Goldie?

  • badman time

  • This was one of the best things I have ever seen ever, thank you for posting it :)

  • This hands down has to be one of the signs of the apocalypse... Are you sure rob playford's not in the back somewhere pulling his strings?

  • haha

  • hilarious
