This 2 year old video was posted to show that Win 7 is usable on lower end machines, though maybe not for "transparent stuff", however this is due to it not having a proper graphics card - not because I felt like cheating you.
I'll post a followup video at some point of my current laptop booting with Win7 - it has the transparent stuff.
@hammy6427 The company I work for is a large Microsoft partner, so this was basically an early Beta build ( milestone release). The Beta came out in early 2009, but performed about the same as this on boot. I never got round to testing the later builds because I ,lost the laptop :)

I've found the opposite in fact. Windows 7 is faster than Vista, comparable to XP and has excellent driver support (anything not on the disk is either on, or has something compatible within Windows Update)

Vista's slow. I put Windows 7 RC on a core2duo with 2gb. Boots in a little less than a minute, far faster than the 3+ Vista would take. I'll put a video on here soon, been meaning to.
dude...you need more ram...vista takes up atleast 1gb of ram because of all its looks and fancy stuff just get some more ram...if that doesnt help you might need a stronger processor

I'm using build 7100 now, obviously, and although it boots quite a bit slower I'd say it's still quite a bit better than the latest version of Vista - it still has a way to go before being production ready though (which from what I've seen of later build, it really is going to be a good product)

There are around 70 viruses(oldest from beginning of 1990s) out there that could infect linux but only around 2-5 could make damage. Most of the viruses just wait people making mistakes or some noobs to click crab. And that's possible because of ie. Firefox is the securest browser.. and it's more secure with linux.

Meaning, hackers can't even get into the system. There are viruses out there for Linux, they just can't do much damage. 1. 512MB of ram will allow 7 to run, but it will rely too much on swapping out pages. That makes for a slower boot time, since windows will load stuff from the drive into memory, and immediately swap it out to the pagefile.
2. Laptop hard drives are a lot slower than desktop drives, which also means a slower boot time.

Mac and Linux are both based off of UNIX.

No, Linux is safer because it doesn't make the default user the superuser. Windows let's your average incompetent user do anything to the system out of the box, whilst Linux safeguards against any such changes by deaf ult. It's simply not worth exploiting a linux system then.

Nonsense. XP was good 8 years ago, but that was a long time, times have changed, XP isn't secure enough and simply not well optimized for all the latest hardware.
As for Server 2003; it's nothing compared to Server 2008, trust me...

that is not even build 7000, it isnt even near to their final release and you are rediculing them on an unfinshed OS them on crap hardware. MIcrosoft recomended 1gb not 512mb. I have 1gb of ram, and it boots up pretty fast

1. 512MB of ram will allow 7 to run, but it will rely too much on swapping out pages. That makes for a slower boot time, since windows will load stuff from the drive into memory, and immediately swap it out to the pagefile.
2. Laptop hard drives are a lot slower than desktop drives, which also means a slower boot time.

Nah it really does run on 512MB's of RAM. I ran it for 2 days straight almost and it hasn't crashed yet, I think Windows 7 is a good deal, fast, smooth, I tried everything to crash this thing.
