AWESOME!!!!! In Keppel Road, Barry Gibb said the drumbeat was exactly the rate of a heart thumping after an evening of dancing...and that's why it's still such a fave on the floor as the last song. Love the horns at 1:53 and 4:40 too!
Where did you, karlospatriot, find this promo 12" version of "Stayin' Alive"? I like this version for its extended horn instrumentals at 1:53 and 4:40, and I first heard it on the radio around four years ago. Thank goodness that I found it!
Its on the promo 12" from the movie that also has the extended Nightfever. However it is also found on a recent best CD that has the 7 min extended version.
The difference is, this version is slower than the regular 45 version. As described on wikipedia :)

Great version, I recall my teenage days when disco was at its peak. Unfortunately I couldn't dance, but I liked listening to the music.

Travolta was a badass MOFO, that combined w/ this movie and the music is a truly inspired combination.

Damnit, I knew I heard this decades ago. When I asked around people were like: extra horn flourishes...extended version... wha????!

I've known about the extended "Stayin' Alive" and "Night Fever" for at least ten years.
A good friend of mine who was a DJ had a neighbor who had been a rep for RSO Records.
A shame the longer versions haven't been in wider circulation.
Same tunes, but more of 'em!

This version is a couple minutes longer and there are two sections of the song with extended horn sections playing. My favorite!
