Too bad the government doesn't have an analyst this effective. I bought his movie too. I have heard 330,000 U.S. dead and the Iraq/ Afghanistan death count stands just under Pol Pot's 1.7 Million dead in Cambodia. Way to go Obama, surrender your Peace Prize and quit living the lie.
What United my people(Afghans) r that we dont want our children to be baptized,Taken away their land.If u come as an invader u will die but if u come as an investor or friend u will enjoy our hospitality.USA and pakistan brought us into civil war decades ago.Talibans r bad bcz they r Pakistani agents.USA is bad cuz they with the help of Pakistan build them against soviet under Mujahideen name. Its same ppl two names.u american gave guns to Afghans and made them fight against one another.
we already completed our mission in afghanistan. we killed bin ladin and most of al- quaida. besides we can always use nukes. with nukes we can turn afghanistan into radioactive dust. amen.
so this ellsberg knows more than our generals and military? the u.s. military is far different now than in vietnam. far different. ellsberg cant predict the future. no one can. if he can predict the future he should play the lottery.
so this ellsberg can predict the future???? he can't predict the future. no one can. he doesnt know what will happen in afghanistan in the future. besides we can use nukes in afghan and win the war in 10 minutes.
the soviets lost 14000 soldiers in 10 years in afghanistan. the u.s. lost 1000 soldiers in 10 years. .....you do the math. we are doing much better than the soviets.
afghanistan is not another vietnam. just look at the numbers. in vietnam we were losing 1000 dead soldiers every month. in afghanistan we are losing 1000 soldiers EVERY 10 YEARS. WOW BIG DIFFERENCE.
I saw a vid of him being arrested for protesting with veterans just before Christmas, but haven't heard anything more about him since. Does anyone know what's happened to him?
@adevezar Except Saudi Arabia and others including Iraq in the 1980's get there arms tech from the West whereas Iranian weapons systems are retrofitted 1980's American systems plus what they've been able to buy from North Korea and build from scratch. Then theres the problem with the Afghan and Iraqi governments both of which have strong ties with Iran.
What makes America so different from past 'EMPIRES' (Roman, British, Russian) who also had superior weapons & money who tried to conquer Afghanistan?

@d4vstone The only people he's a hero to are the evil leftist and islamist retards around the world. Israel is one of the greatest countries in human history and is by no means racist in the sense that you're implying. It's the critics of Israel who are in reality the racists, fascists and genocidal monsters as are Israel's barbaric arab and muslim neighbors. Israel is by far the most enlightened and diverse country in that entire region. And the leftist Obama regime hates Israel.

Personally 3,000 Americans killed does not justify the loss of tens of thousands of impoverished Afghans, plus Pakistanis given now that Obama has dictated they don't do enough.
As if they weren't being killed and brutalized by the former regime. It seems that you are advocating bailing out like we did in the 80s and that didn't turn out too well now did it?
This guy speaks the truth. Especially about the Afghan Army. We could "train" 2 million Afghan soldiers and the Taliban would still be able to retake the country.
@csrocker101 Not true. Almost everyone on the Marxist left said the exact same thing about Iraqi forces in order to promote a defeatist narrative. They were obviously wrong. Most Afghan soldiers are quite good. Especially compared to their terrible taliban enemy. It's the police which are the main problem in Afghanistan but of course none of you know that because you're complete retards.
Uh oh! Looks like we got another you tube politician and a keyboard warrior. Whoever said I was a "Marxist liberal?". Stereotypical third grade name calling from some douche bag with ugly tattoos.

This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I see... well why don't you save the whole-world from the suffering & injustice your going through by getting a hold of a gun, putting it in your mouth & blowing your pathetic brain all over the back-wall.
Wish Ellsburg would be interviewed on the mainstream news networks. We are not going to stop or end this war if people don't hear the truth from someone of this caliber.
@chellamia Why would you want to stop the Afghan War? We're in a global defensive war against evil islamofascism and success in Afghanistan is a key front in winning or losing that war. And it's a war just as dire as WWII and the Cold War but the leftist media covers that up. And this retard has absolutely no idea what he's talking about and is widely known as a leftist nutjob.
this man is very well educated on the issue of afghan war, he should be in the lead, no one will win in afghanistan it is not because afghans are heros, it is beacuse of Afghanistan's structure, it is full of mountains and....
a man from london , newyork or copenhagen will never make it up to the end,
The main difference between VietNam and Afghanisthan eras is: Unitedstaters are too busy getting fat, drinking tasteless beer and watching Fox to fight for their own liberty and demand to bring their kids back home.
BlondeNursesOral In what way is Ellsberg a 9-11 truthing moonbat? Most Americans know that Bush Admin was , at the very least, aware that terrorists were going to attack USA before 9/11 ever happened . And if you google PNAC, you'll see that they were HOPING it would happen at least a year before 9/11
waltereg0 Puh-leez, PNAC (now renamed Foreign Policy Initiative), is merely a shadow lobby abusing non-profit /tax exemption laws, and a wish list of the Military Industrial Complex... the primary author of PNAC manifesto "Rebuilding America's Defenses" is Thomas Donnelly of LOCKHEED MARTIN!
Ellsberg can see through the bullshit: "...where will the money go...Switzerland?" Priceless! I hope Ellsberg has convinced some people with equally high-level clearances, to collect the evidence + to come forward eventually. They will be risking their lives and those of their family and friends, if they do so. This will not stop via mere character assassination...rest assured.
"War is a racket. It always has been. It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. Only a small 'inside' group knows what it is about. It is conducted for the benefit of the very few, at the expense of the very many. Out of war a few people make huge fortunes."
I'm glad Ellsberg talks about how the media was better during the Vietnam War about defying the government, showing real images of war dead and wounded, etc. People say "it's always been this way" but it hasn't. The media has gotten more censored and more right-wing over the past two decades.
The only recourse for the Prez is to copy Joseph Stalin. Have all his Officer Corps shot. That way he avoids a coup, can do a break out of Afghanistan, get rid of a bunch of assholes, and show the world he has the testicular fortitude to do the right thing..
Its pointless really, this discussion. The war was lost with the invasion. The only thing left is withdrawal and the question is when. Focus on that, as nothing other than that is just stalling the issue. When you have a king left on the board and a shitty pawn you dont go for checkmate
I can think of many reasons not to be in Afghanistan. But a similarity to Vietnam isn't one of them. The differences between Vtnm & Afghstn are SO stark, in SO many ways, that Ellsberg's analysis is irrelevant.
Nevertheless, I agree that--in the very long term--US interests would be best served by getting out of Afghanistan.
The expansion of the war in Vietnam has many similarities and many differences from Afghanistan War.
Many of the fundamental assumptions about who, why we are fighting and for how long were barely addressed in the Mainstream media during both wars.
The Viet Cong has Giap and Ho Chi Min himself and had more conventional formations than the Taliban ever organized. Afghanistan is even more divided, ethically and geographically than Vietnam is
Getting out of Afghanistan is the only thing to do =\
the differences are.....apparent to anyone who takes some time to study the situation in Vietnam. Paul Jay pointed out a key one, Ellsberg himself gave a long list.
I can't write a book for you on the subject in the youtube comments section.
Success is not the motive! The MIC wants a long drawn out conflict that the American Taxpayer sponsors so the corporations can make enormous profits. The US ran out of integrity a long time ago!
that would make sense if our M4's would quit breaking during fire fights and our smart bombs had better then a 27%-36% percent hit rate.....it is too expensive to "de-populate" the world the way you are claiming....de-population would not be conducted by Germ war fair, combat, or nukes as it would take too many resources, would make areas unusable is unpredictable and makes little to no sense. Who benefits from depopulation?
Imagine our technological level with only 500 million people on earth. They could all maintain a western lifestyle with cars, big houses, pools, boats, planes and it wouldn't make any difference for the planet at all.
So where are they housing all the very smart people with all the technology and the craftsmen and the people with specialized training to maintain all of this? Because if what you are stating is true then you would need people who are not only complacent with this plan but you would also need to keep them well paid, cared for and most of all quiet. Ever try to keep a secret? Ever try to keep 500 million people from telling a secret?
Lots of "imagination" in your plot very little practicality.
While by no means do I support such speculation, you are wrong to assume that such an effort would require the kind of monolithic organization that you assume. 500 million people would not be in on any secret. It would be a small cabal of insiders pulling the strings of large, compartmentalized private and government organizations.
Some very powerful people have publicly and privately advocated depopulation. That doesn't mean there is a real conspiracy, but it isn't wholly implausible either.
I agree with you and I too have read the same statements and I would like to see the population brought under control for many reasons....however this person is not thinking threw the process and he gave the 500 million number so I was staying with in his critera for the sake of his arguement.
I agree that his argument was oversimplified, but I'm not sure that bringing population under control is the same thing as depopulation. Populations in developed countries level off naturally. The US, Europe, and Japan all have falling populations without resorting to policies like that of China. "Depopulation" implies something much more drastic than relying on economic growth or reproduction controls; it implies directly or indirectly causing deaths.
Again I agree with you. I however did not set the ground rules for this debate I am trying to answer the persons question. I in fact never said I would like to see "depopulation" he did. I said I would like to see the population brought under control. Big difference. I am only debating with in the confines of the posters statements and not about to throw variables in as this poster has not thought out his post so why muddy the waters?
the debat is flawed but I want to see if a light clicks on.
imperialism is not particular to this or that president. undoing it won't also come 'from above' by well-meaning or righteous parties, leaders etc. and every president promising to undo the horseshit has become an enemy of the people once in power. because it isn't democratic: the interests of generals rule.
the structural organization of state and capital is the problem. it is inherently warring.
it isn't nixon or bush or obama on their own that's the problem. nor was it brezhnev!
I agree with you that the use of war makes lots of cash for the elite while the sheeple rally round the flag. You can see Obama equivocating now.But Ron Paul is not part of the existing paradigm. He has virtually no support within his party. He owes no favor to anyone. Many consider him revolutionary. Is that good or bad? Dr. Paul says that it is the central banking system that funds war. He got that right! Real-time communications changes the paradigm. I remain an optimist. View Zeitgeist.
Ellsberg is right. I remember Vietnam and there is no way an interventionist power such as the US or France or anyone else is going to overcome what is essentially a civil war. Sadly, it is the arms industry and the real "powers that be" that perpetuate the violence. And now we have Drones, which only serve to bring the war to us. Are we destined to have a new regional conflict every 30 years, when the memories of the last war are history book fodder? GET OUT NOW!
jesuschrustpizza : the United States is not fighting the Afghan army. It is the same as Vietnam in that the enemy combatants are continually replenished from outside.

Ellsberg: can't figure, nor any american, that the war in afganistan has nothing to do with oil, or Bin laden or fight against terrorism.
the war in Afganisthan is about political strategie to surround Iran, the great menace to USA, Because Iran is bacame a an emergent power.
look at the map, as Iran is surrounded by USA
And why Iran is a menace? because Iran is the most powerfull country in the muslim world, technologicallym politically, and socially.

Personally 3,000 Americans killed does not justify the loss of tens of thousands of impoverished Afghans, plus Pakistanis given now that Obama has dictated they don't do enough.

This guy speaks the truth. Especially about the Afghan Army. We could "train" 2 million Afghan soldiers and the Taliban would still be able to retake the country.

Daniel Ellsberg & Col. Lawrence Wilkerson should be on every network 24/7. These guy's are true Americans.

Wish Ellsburg would be interviewed on the mainstream news networks. We are not going to stop or end this war if people don't hear the truth from someone of this caliber.
chellamia 2 years ago 10
@chellamia Why would you want to stop the Afghan War? We're in a global defensive war against evil islamofascism and success in Afghanistan is a key front in winning or losing that war. And it's a war just as dire as WWII and the Cold War but the leftist media covers that up. And this retard has absolutely no idea what he's talking about and is widely known as a leftist nutjob.

BlondeNursesOral In what way is Ellsberg a 9-11 truthing moonbat? Most Americans know that Bush Admin was , at the very least, aware that terrorists were going to attack USA before 9/11 ever happened . And if you google PNAC, you'll see that they were HOPING it would happen at least a year before 9/11
Yankhadenough 2 years ago 4
That's not what the PNAC said. It simply said that military reform/tech upgrades would have to be implemented faster in the event of a catastrophe.
waltereg0 2 years ago
waltereg0 Puh-leez, PNAC (now renamed Foreign Policy Initiative), is merely a shadow lobby abusing non-profit /tax exemption laws, and a wish list of the Military Industrial Complex... the primary author of PNAC manifesto "Rebuilding America's Defenses" is Thomas Donnelly of LOCKHEED MARTIN!

Northern5tar 2 years ago 4
I'm glad Ellsberg talks about how the media was better during the Vietnam War about defying the government, showing real images of war dead and wounded, etc. People say "it's always been this way" but it hasn't. The media has gotten more censored and more right-wing over the past two decades.

Great Video. I remember the Vietnam war and all the arguments for the war are the same. History just keeps repeating it self over and over again.
Pnkbong 2 years ago
Its pointless really, this discussion. The war was lost with the invasion. The only thing left is withdrawal and the question is when. Focus on that, as nothing other than that is just stalling the issue. When you have a king left on the board and a shitty pawn you dont go for checkmate
AbtinX 2 years ago
I can think of many reasons not to be in Afghanistan. But a similarity to Vietnam isn't one of them. The differences between Vtnm & Afghstn are SO stark, in SO many ways, that Ellsberg's analysis is irrelevant.
Nevertheless, I agree that--in the very long term--US interests would be best served by getting out of Afghanistan.
GetMeThere1 2 years ago
The expansion of the war in Vietnam has many similarities and many differences from Afghanistan War.
Many of the fundamental assumptions about who, why we are fighting and for how long were barely addressed in the Mainstream media during both wars.
The Viet Cong has Giap and Ho Chi Min himself and had more conventional formations than the Taliban ever organized. Afghanistan is even more divided, ethically and geographically than Vietnam is
Getting out of Afghanistan is the only thing to do =\
micahgee 2 years ago 2
And the difference is?
sansez 2 years ago
the differences are.....apparent to anyone who takes some time to study the situation in Vietnam. Paul Jay pointed out a key one, Ellsberg himself gave a long list.
I can't write a book for you on the subject in the youtube comments section.

darrellmellissa 2 years ago
then why the fuck would they go for a country with only 30 million and not india, china, indonesia?
one doesn't have to assign a dedication to depopulation to the military-industrial-political order to see the motive behind war.
that's giving far too much intelligence and premeditation to the ruling class!
it's all about money.
mikezephyr 2 years ago
that would make sense if our M4's would quit breaking during fire fights and our smart bombs had better then a 27%-36% percent hit rate.....it is too expensive to "de-populate" the world the way you are claiming....de-population would not be conducted by Germ war fair, combat, or nukes as it would take too many resources, would make areas unusable is unpredictable and makes little to no sense. Who benefits from depopulation?
mynameisbobtoo 2 years ago
The few that are rich enough to survive.
Imagine our technological level with only 500 million people on earth. They could all maintain a western lifestyle with cars, big houses, pools, boats, planes and it wouldn't make any difference for the planet at all.
The REAL conspiracy is still rich against poor.
durstwurst 2 years ago
So where are they housing all the very smart people with all the technology and the craftsmen and the people with specialized training to maintain all of this? Because if what you are stating is true then you would need people who are not only complacent with this plan but you would also need to keep them well paid, cared for and most of all quiet. Ever try to keep a secret? Ever try to keep 500 million people from telling a secret?
Lots of "imagination" in your plot very little practicality.
mynameisbobtoo 2 years ago
While by no means do I support such speculation, you are wrong to assume that such an effort would require the kind of monolithic organization that you assume. 500 million people would not be in on any secret. It would be a small cabal of insiders pulling the strings of large, compartmentalized private and government organizations.
Some very powerful people have publicly and privately advocated depopulation. That doesn't mean there is a real conspiracy, but it isn't wholly implausible either.
hasatum 2 years ago
I agree with you and I too have read the same statements and I would like to see the population brought under control for many reasons....however this person is not thinking threw the process and he gave the 500 million number so I was staying with in his critera for the sake of his arguement.
mynameisbobtoo 2 years ago
I agree that his argument was oversimplified, but I'm not sure that bringing population under control is the same thing as depopulation. Populations in developed countries level off naturally. The US, Europe, and Japan all have falling populations without resorting to policies like that of China. "Depopulation" implies something much more drastic than relying on economic growth or reproduction controls; it implies directly or indirectly causing deaths.
hasatum 2 years ago
Again I agree with you. I however did not set the ground rules for this debate I am trying to answer the persons question. I in fact never said I would like to see "depopulation" he did. I said I would like to see the population brought under control. Big difference. I am only debating with in the confines of the posters statements and not about to throw variables in as this poster has not thought out his post so why muddy the waters?
the debat is flawed but I want to see if a light clicks on.
mynameisbobtoo 2 years ago
That was just my point: clarification. I'm glad to see there is some critical thought on YouTube.

Good to see this, I've been saying the war in Afghanistan will be the next Vietnam for a long as time...

Yet another reason Ron Paul was the best choice for president. GET OUT NOW!
coldiane 2 years ago
imperialism is not particular to this or that president. undoing it won't also come 'from above' by well-meaning or righteous parties, leaders etc. and every president promising to undo the horseshit has become an enemy of the people once in power. because it isn't democratic: the interests of generals rule.
the structural organization of state and capital is the problem. it is inherently warring.
it isn't nixon or bush or obama on their own that's the problem. nor was it brezhnev!
mikezephyr 2 years ago 2
I agree with you that the use of war makes lots of cash for the elite while the sheeple rally round the flag. You can see Obama equivocating now.But Ron Paul is not part of the existing paradigm. He has virtually no support within his party. He owes no favor to anyone. Many consider him revolutionary. Is that good or bad? Dr. Paul says that it is the central banking system that funds war. He got that right! Real-time communications changes the paradigm. I remain an optimist. View Zeitgeist.
coldiane 2 years ago
Ellsberg is right. I remember Vietnam and there is no way an interventionist power such as the US or France or anyone else is going to overcome what is essentially a civil war. Sadly, it is the arms industry and the real "powers that be" that perpetuate the violence. And now we have Drones, which only serve to bring the war to us. Are we destined to have a new regional conflict every 30 years, when the memories of the last war are history book fodder? GET OUT NOW!
coldiane 2 years ago 4
War in Afghanistan and Vietnam are not the same. Afghanistan was weakened considerably from its war against the Soviet Union.
