  • I have this LP! My uncle Mike left it in his bedroom at Grandma's house and I snagged it when I was 12!

  • @ChrisYonts Kinda sucks for your uncle because this is a very collectable album...and shame on your youthful sticky fingers(Ha! Ha!)...thanks for the comment!

  • the tone of the instrument playing the melody reminds me of the one in the original Munsters theme song...

  • @Shewolfen Okay...to each they're own perception, this is what makes our world go round...glad to see you enjoyed it all the same!;-)

  • @stupullen I think it is cool, I love the munsters! :P

  • :)

  • canyon deep cool

  • @73ddub Right on! Glad you enjoyed it!

  • Thanks. I've often wondered since this effect was never replicated on any other album of theirs that I've listened to.

  • @706jim so true, if I happen to chance on one, I'll upload it(Ha ha ha).

  • Does anyone know what effect they used on the lead on this song? Sounds kind of like a speaker distorting an octave below the lead, mostly on the lowest notes.

  • @706jim I was told that it was a 6-string bass guitar, with standard amp reverberation (Marshall(?) ) set to the 3-4 mark.

This told by a member of the band...hope it helped.

  • @stupullen it may have been a baritone guitar. It was very common in 60s surf to play a muted baritone guitar in so-called "tic-tac bass" style.

  • @PhearOner please read my above comment.

  • Really nice job on cleaning up the song. I never heard this one before.

  • @ventureelect Thank you, it does take some doing to clean up some of these tracks...and as far as you not hearing this before, check the rest of my videos on my channel, or should I say you are welcome to do so.

  • My older brothers had every Ventures 45 and album . . . grew up listening to this music (born in '58) and loved every note, still do! Thanks so much for posting these excellent tracks =)

  • @Brighid45 I don't know how I missed your comment, love the story man and you are welcome!

  • My favorite Ventures album. Glad it finally made it to CD.

  • yes, a few years back, I however did this from an album & cleaned it up on my computer...Thanks for the comment.

  • No pueden decir que permanecen indiferentes ante temas como este! Ahora comprendo por qué es que los llaman "grupo de Surf"...vivían cada estilo que interpretaban.

  • @bst8035 how true ...the surf band that never was

  • This music frees one's spirit... transports

you to another place and time - awesome!

  • 1964, I really don't remember...surfing...yes!

  • Nicely done!

  • 1964 - the best years of Surf music, the best years of America, the best years of my life. If only I could relive it.

  • Re-live 64???

were you not born in 74, i guess it does not matter as long as you enjoy the music.

  • oops. I think we had the same idea at the same time!

  • better than lack of idea like so many out here, It's all good to me!

  • The first time I ever heard "The Ninth Wave" was when my dad played the "Surfin'" album for me when I was about 3 or 4 yrs. old. This song and "Diamonds" are my favorite selections on this LP. Yes, in my opinion, better than Pipeline and Surf Rider !?!?!? Even though these two songs are totally awesome. The best version of "9th Wave" I've ever heard was when I saw The Ventures perform it Live at a casino in Cabazon, California. EXCELLENT JOB ON VIDEO and SELECTION STU!!!!! 5 Stars !!

  • thank you !

  • :-)

  • Lucky You!

Thanks for the comment & check out my others, not too poppy.

  • got this album at garage sale it was shot but for 25 cents what the hay i still have it but don't play it i made it more shotty it was nice to here it without the pops thanks
