@cartoonygurl13 It took me a year to be any good with my other hand...

Use acrylic paints cause you can wipe them off if you make a mistake, and try using your right hand for other things, like....

Try using dotting tools first, then brushes

& try the plastic bag method like in my how to paint domo tut :)

I liked the design, kinda different from all those polka dot designs we're used to see. I have one question, though. How long does the acrylic paint dry? I mean about how much time do u have to wait before applying a top coat or another color on top?

@SugaryGirlx If it's too thick it can takes ages to dry so I water it down a bit, then its not too bad at all.  If it's thin it quicker than nail polish, and if it's thick it takes longer.....

@Nbr1qt I buy FolkArt and DecoArt bottles of acrylic paint either on ebay or from a little art shop I know......the quality of the FolkArt is wayyyyy better than the DecoArt :)

I've just found all these awesome nail art videos on YouTube... and the entire time I watch I'm wondering - HOW IN THE WORLD do you get the polish to DRY completely so it won't smudge? I am old school, bottom coat, 2 layers, top coat -plain old painting nails. EVEN THAT ends up with BUBBLES and not drying so I get fingerprints/smudges all the time. HELP! I'm so inspired by your nails - what do you do/use?

@inspire32me Ok, I made a video called topcoats that don't smudge nail art.....in the comments section I answered a question about bubbles so check that out it may help.....

I paint very thin layers of polish with at least 5 minutes between, thin base, 2 thin and streaky layers of colour, and then ALWAYS a quick dry topcoat. Essie Good To Go is my favourite, it dries really quick, and then 10 minutes later I put hand cream/oil over the nails to help them dry quicker.

The nail I used in this video is a Nailene Short Active Fit Nail, which come in a box from the drugstore. In other videos when I use longer nails they're from ebay :)

@lyndaaries It just takes practice really, the more you do it the better you get. I started out with dots, getting good at using a dotting tool with my left hand, and then I moved on to stripes.

You can also use the plastic bag method that I used in my how to paint domo tutorial.

Other than that the only advice I can give is to try to use your other hand more, to clean your teeth and open doors, draw and write etc.etc....gradually it'll get stronger but it takes a while :)

@Mauiohwowie It takes a lot of practice to be good at doing your other hand, but I can also give you a couple of tips.....using acrylic paints helps cause you can wipe them off if you make a mistake without ruining the polish underneath.

Also, it really helps to try and make your non-dominant hand stronger. Doing everyday things with it like brushing your teeth or holding a spoon or drawing etc. will gradually give you better control over your nail art brushes. Takes a long time tho :)

If you don't know what to use for the dots, i use the end of a bobby pin.

and if the dots arent large enough, then you dip the bobby pin in once.. let it dry... then again.. let it dry.. until its a big enough ball-tip to make a dot

@ShadowSpirits1 The striper brush is from ebay, and I just chopped off half the bristles to make it extra thin. I've bought dotting tools from ebay too, and I made the large dots in this design with the end of a wooden kebab stick (very glamourous, lol). I have 2 tiny brushes from the art store that I use when I paint with acrylic paints, and a set of 3 nail art brushes from vivalanails.co.uk to paint with polishes :)
