Arthur got... a key lunged through his chest, a broken leg with the bone ripped out of the skin, arm cut off, half of the head blown off, and much more... yeah that is a lot for him.
I thought it was a great ending. I liked how new Arthur ends up with Leaf and The New Architect/ Art ends up with Suzy, lol. But, if new Arthur is really part of the New Architect like the Old One was part of the Architect, he'll be immortal. He'll watch everyone he loves on Earth die, he'll start resenting Art, they'll fight, Art will imprison new Arthur and the whole process of destroying the House will repeat itself. Maybe this process happens every 15 billion years.... :P
am i missing something, or does the ending make out the heroes to be the bad guys? the big reveal is that the architect and the will engineered everything to explode, and intentionally corrupted the trustees, who only refused to obey it to save themselves and the universe from destruction, and in the end it works, killing almost all denizens including the ones who helped arthur.
Yeah, exactly. I hated the ending. I actually wrote about two pages, just for myself, analyzing WHY I hated it, and you've summed it up pretty well. The Elephant- he kills it off, with all that symbolizes. Plus his mom dies, and he won't bring her back because she would be different, just based on his memory. So what does that mean for everyone else Arthur does re-create? A cheap copy is okay in their cases? Keh. >_< It was a poorly thought out ending, in my opinion.
@ZoozaTheBink Everybody else was exactly the same, not copies. The only reason the New Architect couldn't remake Arthur's Mother was because she was in the House when it was destroyed, as one of Sunday's exhibits, and the NH only had a record of the Secondary Realms. I didn't really get the ending the first time I ever read it, and I didn't like it, but I read it again recently and loved it, because I actually understood it this time, lol.
I have to say, I love Garth, and the Keys to the Kingdom were my favourite books ever. But I did not like the ending to Lord Sunday. I could see it coming right at the start, and I had hoped that this ending was too obvious and it would not be the acual ending.
I just finished. i am in tears... So Good thank you so very much I love this series I have been with you from the beginning. I loved these books. I hope you write a short story to these or maybe continue them. But however they are awesome and thank you.
I'm on chapter eight now only having bought the book yesterday afternoon. I didn't even realise it was out. I normally get an e mail telling me the release day.
I love the keys to the kingdom. It's an amazing series.
Can't wait to see what you come out with next. Keep up with the good work. Love you. XxX

Just finished it and it's such a bittersweet ending. On one hand it's happy and the other it's sad. I'm not sure how I feel about it.

I recently finished reading Lord Sunday. I don't remember when I exactly started, but it was an excellent journey.

agreed it did feel like a cop out, and it seemed like arthur completely forgets the mercy that is recommended to the trustees from mister monday.
I was dissappointed but it was still a wonderful series.

Yea, he really DOES put Arthur through hell.....seven times.
