I bought him one of those KONG Extremes, the largest size they had, and he will have nothing to do with it. I have a Border Collie and she loves hers.
I tried putting a leash on him but he is so strong I can't get it on him and when I go into the back yard with him he knocks me over. I will try the knee thing trick. I think I took on to much, I did not realize he would be so difficult, but all I can do is take one day at a time. Thanks for your advice!!
I am taking care of a Bloodhound for a friend of mine while they are visiting family, and he is very lonely. I try to play with him but he is still a puppy and he jumps up on me and won't stop. He is so strong I can't handle him, all I want to do is play fetch with him, but I feel I am being attacked and I leave, I know he is not trying to harm me but I can't handle him. Does anyone have a technique to stop this jumping?
@catchlightdame The puppy needs something to play with. Get him a chew rope or a stuffed animal. Bloodhounds like lots of attention. I turn or lift my knee to try to break the habit of jumping. If you could walk him on a leash that would help.

Wow! I've never seen work done with a Bloodhound. I would think they are one of the hardest breeds to work with in getting attention.
