  • Now that was history on film!!

  • why is the accompanist not following her?

  • The original cast... this is truly a gem!

    Thank you for posting

  • i remember in the early 90's when NPR announced that Larry Kert, the actor who originated the roll of Tony in WSS had passed away from AIDS they ended the segment with this song........ still makes me cry thinking about it.

    thank you for posting this.

  • thank you.

  • When in the show did she sing this? i looked online and it only mentioned tony and maria singing it together...does it happen offstage?

  • In the original 1957 production this was sung by Consuelo (Reri Grist). See also Reri Grist's original 1957 recording of this song here on Youtube. Only later it was changed into a duet for Tony and Maria.

  • Reri is one of those rare specimens of women that should be cloned, if the technology and times would permit such breakthrough... her legacy shouldn't be forgotten. She's such an inspiration, she made me cry...

  • This almost madem e cry.

    Ah reri grist! <3

  • Wow! This is simply stunning.

  • Francis.... THANK YOU for sharing this. It brought tears to my eyes... Chita, Carol, Reri. Wow!!! (you are an excellent hoofer yourself- are you in anything currently??) Please keep Posting 2 videos are no enough.

  • Not sure about Broardway but this woman is a hell of a coloratura soprano. listen to her Caro Nome'.

  • This is precious...thanks so much for sharing

  • wow she still sounds very beautiful

  • This is a great moment to see Reri Grist and her castmates from the original production. Although, I believe Ms. Grist was "marking" her solo part as we singers often do during rehearsals, at 75 she still sounds youthful, and you can hear the lovely coloratura quality she had in her prime.

  • Bravissimaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thank you again, Francis. How lucky you were to be a part of this--and how lucky we are for your videos.
